My Keys To Beating Indianapolis

Our Houston Texans are showing small improvement steps each week, so thats always a positive.

Our team's attitude is superve, so we'll benefit from that this sunday in Indianapolis. We have an oppurtunity to make the second half of the season a big plus, starting with this game. Here's what I feel we need to do against the Colts to win.

-Start Strong. This will elimate the crowd atleast some, and swing the momentum in our direction.

-Find Andre Johson in the pass game. There is no doubt in my mind that, judging from the Jacksonville game, he is back and a legit weapon in our pass game.

-Good Kick Returns, to set up good field position. Hopefully, Jerome Mathis will get the go, as he obviously would put us in the best possible position to accomplish this task.

Hey, its the NFL- anything is possible on a weekly basis. And remember, your only as good as your last game, which we played very well in against Jacksonville.

Fans: Cheer us on like never before, be a true fan!

No one this season has yet to find out a way to beat them. Our poor little 1-7 team doesn't really have that much of shot. They played them well in the 1st half of the 1st game, so they got that going for them.

I will state this, if we pull out this game somehow, I think this would be a total turnaround for the team and we complete the season with more wins with the added confidence. Like I said last year when we played the Jags, I think this game is THE pivotal game for us. It's our most crucial game of the year.
 
My expectations were 8-8 and the Texans will most likely fall short. Therefore, I am more concerned about building upon our performance the last two weeks. Individual growth is very important as we assess who will be on the team next year.

My keys to competing are:
Keep Freeney out of the backfield which we did a good job of last game.
More blitzing.
Yank Coleman if he misses an assigment.
Go deep to Bradford early to either get him back or lose him for good.
Get Gaffney the ball early.
More shotgun.
 
Kaiser I was with you till you said go deep to Bradford early. Bradford has an injured hand and that is the least of his problems catching the ball. He is not a good receiver and should be completely phased out. go deep to Mathis and AJ early. Mainly hit Aj on cross routes like NE did against them and have Gaffney set up in the zone the way Deon Branch kept doing. Shotgun is a must, but will be difficult with McKinney switching back to center. We have to run the ball. We want to slow the game down meaning keep Indy's offense off the field. Their defense is undersized like ours and if you pound on them for a long period of time they will tire. That will negate speed, power, and determination. You are exactly right on yanking Coleman. Hell yank him now and just start CC/Simons at FS and Earl at SS.
 
I agree with Kaiser Toro's gameplan.

Use the shotgun and four wide-out look more often. Not every play, but mix it up and threaten the deep pass. If successful early in the game, it might make the defense hesitate before bullrushing 7 men at DC.

Use AJ early, but then spread the ball around. Keep the D guessing, instead of always giving him the first look.

Use that bootleg often, too, away from Freeney when possible. I liked the option of DC running for yardage or having a dump-off to someone on the same side of the field.

Blitz from every angle throughout the game. The Colts are a multi-dimensional team with many weapons, so we've got to show different looks in order to avoid constant exploitation. Manning will eat our 3-4/cover 2 for lunch if that's all we do all game.

Special teams need to step up, both to give the Texans good starting position, as well as make the Colts have to drive long every time.

Lastly, PROSTITUTES! Lots of them sent the night before to every Colts player. (j/k! heh-heh ;) ).

IF we beat the Colts this week, I'll remove my above avatar. I'll still be in the club, but I just won't advertise it for awhile. :ok:

Agreed. I think we are seeing the end of Coleman. I would love to finally see Mathis and Johnson on the field together and even have Armstrong in the game this week.

I threw that in there because as a former coach I tried to coach up or coach out guys for playing time by going back to the film, practicing the desired action/result that you want and then go back to them in a game situation. For guys that continually made the same mistakes, the best way to move them out, which many would like to see happen to Bradford, was to go right back at them.

Admittedly, I have not seen whether his injury will keep him out of the game.
 
It would be nice to have AJ, Mathis, and DD all out there. I think if they play the way they did the first half of the first time, and mkae the right adjustments at halftime for the 2nd half, they'll be ok. Here the keep it close mentality would be cool if thru 56 mins. of play this game is very close, just don't give Vanderjagt the chance to kill us - yeah I SAID IT, VANDERJAGT. Last time this game was close - 3 point loss I think in season 2 - Vanderjagt clinched the win. It would be nice for AJ or Mathis to put the dagger in their chest w/ a winning touchdown.
 
my key to beating indy is to have a good draft and a couple nice fa pickups. get new coaches. have a good training camp. wait till we play them at reliant and have everyone play at the top of their game. if all that happens then we got a chance.
 
Maybe it would help wake up McNair, who seems asleep at the switch.

Please tell me this. They just whooped the Patriots who not really a bad team. When you look up bad team int he NFL dictionary this year you see a Texans logo. Sure I hope the team wins, but as I posted prior to this. Our next chance for a win is when Arizona comes here. remember we almost lost to Cleveland.

I just want to see some good performances from DD and Gaffney. They on my fantasy league team. Also less sacks to David Carr.
