Hall of Fame
1.) Jonathan Hankins DT. I have been going back and forth between Hankins and Short for a while. Today it's Hankins. Hankins is big but has the talent and versatility to play anywhere on the DL.

2.) DaRick Rogers WR. Just like I did with the first pick I have have gone back and forth with this pick. Only I have three guys here that I'm struggling to choose from. Patton, Dobson and Rogers. I feel Any of these guys would contribute right away and would at the very least become the #2 WR almost immediately. I went with Rogers because I feel out of the 3 he has the most potential to eventually become AJ's replacement as our #1 WR.

3.) Travis Kelce TE. He fits our team better than any TE in the draft IMO. He is the best blocking / receiving in this draft. This allows us to trade OD now or let him walk after this year helping to free up cap space to sign Watt and Cushing to extensions. Kelce was used a lot like we use our TE's. He went in motion a lot and was very good at being a lead blocker and an H back out of those type plays. Because of this he should be able to not only pick up our offense quickly but excel in it.

3.) Kenny Stills WR. Stills is the best WR that no one talks about in this draft. I know people will think this is high for him. I don't! He reminds me a lot of Kendal Wright Baylor in last years draft. He is that good. Watch his highlights and what really stands out is that he gets very good separation and he is very conscious of getting BOTH feet in bounds on sideline and endzone catches.

4.) Zac Dysert QB. I love Dysert. I wanted him to come out last year so we could draft him. He is the perfect QB to groom behind Schaub while he plays out his contract.

5.) Reid Fragel OT Ohio St. Has the athletic ability to play in this system. Former TE who could be our future RT.

6.) Kwame Geathers NT. I know people will say I already drafted a NT in the first so why another one here. I watched a lot of Georgia's game tape and Geathers when on the field surprised me with very good hustle and agility for a guy his size. There were plays where he ran 35 yards down field chasing plays.

He played his best when playing against bigger OL. When he went up against smaller guys who went low on him is where he had problems. He won't have that problem in the NFL. He would of been a full time starter next hear and surely improved his draft stock greatly. We are lucky he came out early and we have the chance to get him with a 6th round pick. Great size, willingness to hustle, good bloodlines all add up to him being a quality player once he gets some pro Coaching and develops more technique.

I could easily see him being a very good starting 3/4 NT in the near future. A DL of Watt, Geathers and Hankins would look a lot like a younger version of Baltimore's DL of the last several years.

6.) Zac Anderson DE/OLB northern Michigan. My biggest sleeper In this draft.

School: Northern Michigan University (Division II)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 280
40 time: 4.62
Bench Press Reps: 33
Vertical: 35 inches
20-Yard-Dash: 2.69
10-Yard-Dash: 1.68
Broad Jump: 10 feet
Squat 750
Highlight Tape:

Notes:

- Has elite get off.
- Uses his hands very well to eliminate blockers quickly.
- Has elite intangibles and is apparently a very intelligent guy.
- Has an amazing motor.
- Very raw in his technique at times and would need continued development.
- Only had 1 sack his senior year but played through an ankle injury that should've ended his season (that game tape is him WITH the ankle injury).

7.)George Winn RB. I fell in love with this guy while watching Film of Kelce. He is a very hard high effort runner that is hard to bring down Nd fights for every yard. Watch some of his film before you judge this pick. I bet you will be surprised.

I know it's not the most common names but I have really latched on to these guys and hope we get as many of them as possible. In the first and second round I would be very happy with any of the alternatives I listed.

Let me have it! :doot:

At just a quick glance, I don't like that there's no safety. I'm really hoping we pick someone this year to groom behind Reed

I would also like to see a pass rusher a bit earlier as I think we need another guy for the rotation, and an ILB. We need more there after Cushing.

I really wanted all of those but these guys just seemed like perfect fits at the time they were available. I know most people try and fill all holes with their mocks, I just wanted to find guys that I thought fit well and were good value at each pick.

Real drafts never fill all needs. They go after BPA that fits the team. As I went through players that should be available per round these were the guys that I thought had good value and fit the team well.

The offense got an injection of youth and talent that should help it for years to come. The defense got an injection of youth with size and athleticism in their front seven where it was needed the most. I hate that I didn't get a you g safety to groom under Reed And an ILB to grow with Cushing but you can't realistically expect to fill every hole with one draft. There is still FA and if these guys pan out there are two huge contracts that they could replace next year allowing us to finally have some money to add a really good FA or two.

glad you posted something concrete but yes badboy owns them, guess that's why three amigos mock bombed this year, well that & my own fault.

grade wise your both right. does he fit? will he be available? is Nose Texans biggest need? three biggies. It's not a bad selection, it's just that you can address stop gaps for inside every round & develop. If Rick & Company decide he is their man, then I have no problems with pick, just not my personal flave :fostering:

lightening in a bottle with DaRick. This is contrary to everything Texan worthy ever preceding. best talent maybe, but worst head :pinned:
Kelce maybe a keeper, pretty early for Texans to address a position of medium need. must be a special player. like fact his brother is already a player (center) for Philly, that's always a plus. I just don't get the OD hate? hope he remains a Texan dude is just money anyone who thinks different is seeing another product on & off the field.

Like Stills would be a little late to address pressing need but could fill in the rotation. I really prefer Stedman Rodgers is waiting this long to add impact player probably the most underrated wr in this draft.

love Zac Dysert here. great pick, means Kubiak is serious about transition.

former buckeye? certainly NFL worthy swing tackle I'll buy here.

really prefer you addressing nose here. Geathers is the type Wade could mold & develop not polished obviously as Hankins but could serve & do his thing helping solidify interior.

sleeper pick for sure know nothing about him.

Winn is off the map mussop, guess that's OK cousin of Derrick Mason.

I still don't understand drafting a NT at 27. Yes, it's one of the top needs, but the fact we only use them on base defense and not nickel/dime packages tells me it's not worth drafting one in the first. Drafting a safety at 27 makes a lot more sense than a NT even though we already have our two starters.

Depends on the quality of NT

Best guys will play. If you draft a NT that's really good and can rush the passer really well he'll be on the field.

If you had Vince Wilfork, you aren't taking him off the field just because of the position he plays.

True but dominant NT's like Wilfork don't make it to the bottom of round 1 either.

I wouldnt complain with this haul. Fills some immediate needs with quality players.

Much like my TT picks , I'd like to have gotten an OT earlier ....

Zac Dysert is an interesting prospect .... and I doubt Schaub is under center in 2015.

Would like an ILB and a safety somewhere along the way. Just not enough picks to solve all the issues on this roster.

I think Wilfork was drafted in the 20-22 range the yr he was drafted. There were concerns about Wilforks weight and that he took plays off. Sounds a little bit like knocks on Hankins and Short?
