Mock with trade from#27

Dolphins are in negotiation with KC offering a second (#42?) for LT Brandon Albert who was franchised @ about $9m but wants long term deal. I thik Dolphins would trade second round # 54 and third round #82 for our #27. Miami could use a CB, DE and an OG. Warmack could be theirs #12 to side with Albert to protect Tannehill and a good selection #27 for either a CB or Werner could slide. If not Moore could be enticing.

2nd: #54 WR Da'Rick Rogers #57 CB/S David Amerson 17 INTs last two years

3rd: #82 Nt Brandon Williams #89 WR slot Stedman Bailey #95 ILB/OLB Cornelius Washington

4th: OT Brennan Williams
5th: ILB Steve Beauharnais
6: #195 RB Cierre Wood #201 OLB Quanterus Smith
7th: TE Jake Stoneburner

I would not be surprised to see using other lower rounds to trade up into second where good quality exists.

Do you realize how many lower round picks it would take to get a second round pick?

I Like the guy's you have chosen - Rogers is my #1 WR , Amerson is intriguing , especially at one of the S spots , Washington I took in the TT mock with #95 obvious value there.

Brandon Williams and Brennan Williams would be solid selections in the mid rounds ...

15-60 seems to be really flat talent wise. I really think it would be ideal to trade back , just have to find a team willing to move up and pay a premium price for doing so.

The Texans really have to nail this draft with all the losses they had in FA and the holes that were exposed thruout the season or run the risk of taking a step back. Indy will be charging hard .... damn them for having a decade of Manning and then falling into Luck.

Are you still using the old draft evaluation chart?

Wouldn't the new CBA make top picks even more valuable meaning that it would take more picks than implied by the old chart since they can't get massive contracts anymore?

BB, like TexansSeminole said the Dolphins have lots of holes to fill and upgrades to make they need lots of help and most likely won't be looking to trade up.

What if instead we trade with the 49rs'. They currently have 1-1st, 2-2nd, and 2-3rd round picks. They're an elite level team looking to get back to the Super Bowl and realize that they can't stay on top forever so they're making a push to win it now. They also need a new backup QB. We give them #27 in exchange for picks #34 (a high 2nd) and #93 (a low 3rd). Now they also have pick #74 and I'd be asking for #34 and #74 but I'd settle for #34 and #93 which I think is more realistic. That would give the 49rs' 2-1st, 1-2nd, and 1-3rd so that they still have selections in each round and thus aren't feeling like they're left out of a round. It would also give the Texans 2-2nd (#34 and #57), and 3-3rd (#89, #93, and #95). We could then get our WR and OLB in the 2nd and a DT and lots of value in the 3rd.

I really like your idea here .... WR , DT , OT , OLB and ILB all in rounds 2 & 3 .... I'd be as happy as a punk in a peter patch.

If things fell just right , I might take an OT with that #34 pick and a WR at #57.

The trade with the 49ers is much more feasible. I would be in favor of this trade if it were a possibility. The problem is, who do the 49ers want at 27 that they can't get at 34? It won't be a QB. Someone would have to fall far, like a Jarvis Jones.

I don't mean to shut down the idea for the Dolphins trade up, but I drafted for them in the TT mock draft and, even with their plethora of picks, I couldn't get everything I wanted to get done.

I doubt you could pick a team and address all the positions you would like. Between the war of attrition that is the NFL and free agency .... Thats tough to do.

I doubt the Fins would move up and have to question whether or not the 9ers would either .... But I believe "some team" would be willing to make a similar move up and give up similar assets.

We see movement in the draft almost every year .... I just hope the Texans can find A) a serious contributor at 27 or B) a partner willing to move up.

That's true. Anything is possible.

The Bucs just acquired Revis from the Jes and lost their 1st rounder. They have the 11th pick in the 2nd and 3rd round and two 4th rounders. They'd have to give up alot to move up to our pick at 27, but anything is possible. They have a need for several starters including at DE. They may value someone there at 27, like the Dolphins.

I can see the 49rs possibly trading up to get either a DE or CB. At DE Justin Smith is getting old and although they just signed Glenn Dorsey, he's done nothing special since coming into the league and added high quality youth is always a good thing. They could also use a young quality CB, Rogers is getting old and although they signed Aso he's getting older as well and coming off a bad year. CB is a position where quality youth is always needed to restock the pipeline.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but a trade with the 49rs at least makes sense for both teams.

Texans have to add another high quality pass rusher. I just can't envision them going into next season with merciless and reed and a mid round rookie. Reed generated very little pass rush last year plus he got hurt, and merciless didn't generate a lot of pressure on qb's in the pocket, but did a good job once they started to scramble.

They have to get watt more help up front in the pass rush department...specificall from the edges. I like Washington, but I don't know if he'll be enough in his first year.

Bet on it. A bunch of folks are thinking WR in the first. I'm thinking Wade gets another toy, just like last year. OLB is my bet/guess.

Can't wait till Thursday! (to see them trade outta the first and pick up more picks!)

Same principal as my trade so yes. Dolphins have been in negotiations with Chiefs for Brandon Albert OT. The offer on table is a Dolphins' second round. Two firsts, their remaining third (after trading with us) would allow them to bring in quality to fill their holes especially if ALbert signs. Three starters + a very good third round player is about all a team expects in a draft.

I think Washington will beat out Reed by mid season. He discovered his foot placement was wrong towards end of season and you could see him getting much better.

I am making a change only because Stedman Bailey has move out of our range in third. I replace him with Aaron Dobson.

2nd: #54 WR Da'Rick Rogers #57 CB/S David Amerson 17 INTs last two years

3rd: #82 NT Brandon Williams #89 WR Aaron Dobson #95 ILB/OLB Cornelius Washington

4th: OT Brennan Williams
5th: ILB Steve Beauharnais
6: #195 RB Cierre Wood #201 OLB Quanterus Smith

I keep forgetting about da'rick...

I'd consider trading up to the top of the second and grabbing him or just take him at 27. Dude is a beast.

Think Rogers will be there where I am picking and Smith* is indicating he is open to trading down "been on phone all day" per Chronicle as usual. Patterson really sliding supposedly with one of ESPN guys mocking him to Texans. I have him ahead of Rogers by a bit but would love either or both. lol.

*“Gary (Kubiak) tries to stay neutral because he’s got the role of the head coach, (but) if I were to sit here and say that coaches don’t try to influence me, I wouldn’t be truthful,” he said. “That’s just a part of the process.”
“I think there’s only one draft (in which) I didn’t execute a trade,” Smith said. “We’re always open to trades, moving up and moving back. We’re open to doing that again this year.”

“I think the 27th spot is attractive from the standpoint that, historically, you look back and there are teams that come back into the latter part of (the first round) if a player’s there they’ve targeted earlier. I think we’ll have some flexibility, but I’m confident if we don’t, we’ll get a good player.

What's crazy is that Tennessee had all three of those guys...And they also had a decent QB throwing to them...

Do you realize how many lower round picks it would take to get a second round pick?
April 25th Vikings traded 2,3, 4 and a 7th for PATS 29th pick. I think it is safe to say a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th could then get a low second round.
