The Houston Texans select with the #1 overall pick...

reggie_85226.jpg

Reggie Bush, from the University of Southern California

With no decent trade offers, and the Texans commited to David Carr, they opt for a shot of instant offense. The most explosive player in college football over the last 2 years, Bush will give the opposing DC's nightmares.

Lets hope he becomes the NFL star, that most of us think he will.

With the 2nd pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select...

2005-11-02-001.jpg

Matt Leinart, Quarterback, University of Southern California

Wanting a Pro-style QB, instead of developing another scrambler, the Saints go with Leinart over Young.

Tennessee Titans are now on the clock....

the titians select vince young qb from the university of texas.

with most of the staff wanting to select a lt tackle to replace hopkins. bud adams steps in and forces the team to go with young. hoping to stick it to his old fans back home one last time. after the draft bud kept mumbleing something about "twice a year".

Decided on Hawk because he is an impact player worthy of this pick. Reading on 49ers' MB, they said their needs were playmakers, depth on OL, pass rushers,LB ( everyone is a FA ) ,FS. Sounds like Texans,eh

The Atlanta Falcons Select

Michael Huff, University of Texas

With safety being the primary area of need, the falcons decide to move up and grab the highest rated player in that area. Huff will join Deangelo Hall in one of the premiere secondaries in the league.

The Buffalo Bills select Haloti Ngata, 6'5" 335 lb. DT from Oregon.

Coach Jauron has always done best with a big bad DT squishing the run. More importantly, our defense dropped from 2nd to 29th in one year after losing Pat Williams to Free Agency. Sam Adams just isn't getting it done.

With the 9th pick the Jets select RB Deangelo Williams, 5'10" 217 pounds, Memphis.

Curtis Martin is getting older, and the Jets RB problem is just as glaring as QB or LT. The draft is deep with tackle's and lets not count Chad Pennington out yet. The Jets didn't get Bush, but still trade down, pick up a 2nd rounder and still get a premier RB.

With the 10th pick, the Arizona Cardinal select offensive guard, Max Jean-Gilles, SR, 6-4, 340, Georgia.

The recent signing of Kurt Warner to longer contract than anticipated negated the option of drafting QB standout, Jay Cutler. The offensive was very suspect in the run last year finishing at the bottom half of the league in rushing. Gilles brings an immediate upgrade to the line to allow Arrington to take over the starting spot.

There has been a trade between the wags Rams and the TEXANS84 Vikings:
Rams get: Vikings 1st rounder (17th overall) and 2nd rounder (48th overall)
Vikings get: Rams 1st rounder (11th overall) and 3rd rounder (77th overall)

Vikins select:

RB LenDale White, USC

With no runningback to help the offense, the Vikings need a "bruiser" style runningback to control the clock with.

With the 12th overall selection in the 2006 houstontexans.com mock draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

cgreenway.jpg

LB Chad Greenway out of Iowa

The browns LB corps is pathetic. Besides Andra Davis there isn't a single LB on their team who even close to being a star of the defense until now. Greenway has great size (6'4" 239lbs), moves very well and is a great tackler. He has also proven to be a leader, which is what the brown's defense has been lacking.

With the 13th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select:
Jimmy Willaims - CB - Virginia Tech University
Virginia_Tech_-_Jimmy_Williams.03.ucf.jpg

The fins roll the dice that this kid is 100% again and select

CB from FSU - Antonio Cromartie
He's got that rare ombo of speed and size. Toss in the fact that when he gets the ball, kid can make plays. Only concern is the injury, but if Willis can come back I feel Antonio will do just fine.

And DAMN the Raiders :D

The Rams select Ko Simpson. He will be an immediate starter at FS and will improve a pretty bad defense. He excels in coverage and is a solid tackler. This guy will be the next Ed Reed in the NFL... at least the Rams hope so.

With the 19th pick, the Chargers select, Santonio Holmes, Wide Receiver from THE Ohio State University.

With Winston Justice going to the Cowboys the pick before, the Chargers knew going after a deep threat was their best option. Holmes gives Brees another target and should open the field for Antonio Gates underneath.

With the 20th pick, the Texan279 Chiefs select Brodrick Bunkley, DT, FSU.

281633.jpg

The Chiefs focused on their defense last season by adding Patrick Surtain, Sammy Knight, Kendrell Bell, and Derrick Johnson, but still need help in the middle of the line. The Chiefs used a 5 man rotation last season at DT yet no one player did anything spectacular at the DT spot and the 5 of them combined had 88 tackles and 3 sacks. In 2005 Bunkley recorded 25 tackles for loss which was #2 in the nation, recorded 66 total tackles, 9 sacks, and 15 quarterback hurries. He was named a FWAA team first team All-American and a CNNSI.com first team All-American...voted second team All-ACC...was named to ESPN.com first team All-Film team where they rank players based on game film and production. He gets good push up the middle contributing towards the pass rush, and he fills running lanes well with his constant activity, good pursuit and intensity and should give the Chiefs some much needed help in the middle of the defensive line.

With the 21st pick, the New England Patriots select…

Manny Lawson DE/OLB North Carolina State

The Pats inability to pressure the QB (23rd in sacks) was a large contributor to New England’s 31st ranking in pass defense. With Willie McGinest entering his 13th season and Mike Vrabel moved inside, the Patriots are suddenly thin at the Elephant position in their 3-4/4-3 hybrid defense.

Lawson is a 6’5”, 240 lb DE who played OLB his first 2 seasons with the Wolfpack. More than just a speed rusher, Manny plays the run well and has the athleticism to drop back in coverage. In addition, Lawson is an outstanding special teams player with 6 career punt blocks. I’m sure Belichick & staff can’t wait to begin coaching this former ACC long jump champ.

And look how happy Manny is to be a Patriot!

postgame200512315181-lg.jpg

With the 22nd pick of the first round, The Denver Broncos select:

Marcedes Lewis TE 6'6" 255 UCLA

The Broncos have lacked a legitiment TE since the days of Sharpe. Lewis is the most complete and still the best TE in the draft. He has size comparable to Pope, but is a much more refined blocker and reciever. He can stretch the field. The Broncos were looking to draft Bunkley at DT, but he went slightly before our pick. We took the next best guy and filled a huge need.

NFL Comparision: Antonio Gates

With the 23rd pick, the Buccaneers select Marcus McNeill of Auburn. With the need of an OT on the rise for Tampa, they try to fix that problem with this young man.

With the 24th pick, the Bengals select Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan.

Watson's stock rose after an impressive Senior Bowl week where he was said to completely dominate. Though the need for a SS is also present, Cincinnati's need for a run-stopping DT was greater. This monster 6'4 331 lb DT will help out a team that was ranked 20th against the run last year.

NY giants select Ashton Youboty, CB from THE Ohio State University

The New York Giant secondary is questionablr to say the least. Even though they had a major need at LB, drafting a top flight corner is more important right now. They select the 6'1 Youboty who plays physical and also has good speed to cover the deep routes.

With the 27th pick in the HoustonTexans.com Official Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select ...

Eric Winston, LT, Miami

Ht: 6'7" Wt: 315

EricWinston2.jpg

The Carolina Panthers are a team with a few positions where there is a glaring weakness. LT is one of those positions. The Panthers had previously drafted Jordan Gross out of Utah to secure the LT spot, but he has since developed into a solid RT. This past season the LT position was filled by Travelle Wharton. He preformed admirably, but he just isn't a long-term solution to the problem. Picking up Winston here helps to bring a LT with tremendous size, speed, agility, and awareness to the Carolina O-Line. In a division where your LT faces off against the likes of Simeon Rice twice a year a solid franchise LT is necessary to success.

Winston has the natural abilities to be an elite LT despite only playing the position since 2003. He began his collegiate career as a TE. He's an excellent run blocker and pass blocker, and he's got the mean streak you look for in a tough-nosed offensivelineman. Winston was responsible for making all the line calls at Miami, and that will surely serve him well at the next level. His major draw back is an injury concern stemming from his torn ACL in a game against Georgia Tech. The Panthers are confident that Winston is fully recovered, and that he'll continue to improve with good coaching to improve his techniques, and plenty of strength training to prepare his body for the pounding that a NFL lineman takes all year.

With the 26th pick, the Chicago Bears select Florida WR Chad Jackson. After a season of inept offense that was only saved by the Bears defense, it was clear which side of the ball needed to be addressed. Although some might consider it a little early, there's really no telling until the guys get on the field.
chad-jackson-09-03-05.jpg

Tye Hill, CB Clemson The freefall continues right into the club's lap. With world class speed and still being fairly young at the position, the potential for this young CB is staggering. Aside Rashean Mathis the club has what it now believes to be the next top CB duo in the league.

There has been a trade. The YoungTexanFan Broncos have decided to trade pick #29 to the Sarg01 Bills for picks #42 and #73.

Sarg01 is now on the clock with pick #29.

Can you send me the convo with the agreement??? I need to okay each trade...

I confirm the trade.

The Bills select DE Tamba Hali from Penn St.

Not sure what he's doing on the board at this point, but who's arguing? With Clements getting F-tagged the Bills biggest defensive needs (29th in NFL last year - ick) were clearly on the D-line. With Ngata chewing up multiple O-linemen, a guy like Hali should be a little shot of pure QB destruction. And he can play the run, too - how sweet is that?

The cap1 Colts have given me their "draft board" and with the 30th pick in the first round, the cap1 Colts select DeMeco Ryans, LB, Alabama.

Cap1 Colts chose Demeco Ryans at LB because we need some solid LB due to the Other LBs leaving in FA.

The NFL Draft--I sent you a pm before I had finished it and then when I tried to send the rest it said your pm box was full. Time to flush some old ones.

The surprised Steelers were hoping for Max Jean-Gilles, but nonetheless have a good talent fall to them. The Steelers are not looking for a backup to Willie Parker neither are they wasting the pick on a safety, they already have one good one. They go for Mathias Kiwanuka to take over Clark Haggans spot, which will truly give them a feared duo as Kiwanuka teams with Porter on the opposite side and this will keep Polumalu in coverage more to compensate for a possible loss of Chris Hope. Kiwanuka maybe too tall to play OLB, but his athletisism makes up for it, he also may have fallen off of draft boards at the Senior Bowl, ut keep in mind in the 3-4 Kiwanuka faces TE's and RB's as he has big DT's to eat up space. Kiwanuka also helps the Steelers on passing downs, giving them a true end to rush the passer. Good teams get better and the Steelers may end up being good for a long time.

With the 33rd pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the Houston Texans Select...

Jonathan Scott from the University of Texas

Height: 6'7"
Weight: 310
40-Time: 5.3

With tackle being a need for so many years, and 2006 having multiple franchise left tackles, Scott slips to the 2nd and is picked up by the Texans. I also looked at the middle of the o-line, TE, and Linebacker, but decided a franchise LT is something this team has been missing since day 1.

Projected starters, so far: ;)

LT Jonathan Scott
LG Chester Pitts
C Drew Hodgdon
RG Zach Weigert
RT Todd Wade

JonathanScott2.jpg

The Saints pick Daryn Colledge, OT, Boise St to go with Matt Leinart and the new, New Orleans Saints offense. Wayne Gandy is 35 next season and this will give the Saints two young bookend Tackles to go with their new field general.

The Driftaway Jets proxied the pick of the Georgia TE Leonard Pope.

49ers will select an OL to protect Alex Smith's backside.and open up running game....Charles Spencer OG/T Pittsburgh. Hope to get some weapons for offense, later.

the titians select olb ernie simms from florida state.

the titians are looking to add some speed to thier lb core and since thomas howard was already gone we decided to go with simms.

titians turned down an option to trade down and add a third because the 2cnd round pick was to late in the round.

The Arizona Cardinals select Rod Wright, SR, 6-5, 315, Texas.

Russell Davis is a free agent and may not be with the team. If he does sign however, Wright is still a welcomed addition to fight for a starting spot.

The YoungTexanFan Broncos select:

WR Sinorice Moss, 5-8, 185, Miami (Fl)

Moss has been rising up draft boards, and the Broncos are in dire need of a top reciver. Moss provides top notch speed, while being able to make quick cuts. He is able to find seams and has good hands. He is considered a first round tweener, and the Broncos are happy to see him fall.

With the 43rd pick in the 2006 Houstontexans.com mock draft, the Cleveland Browns select....

rcallaghan.gif

Ryan O'Callaghan, Tackle from Cal

Ryan Tucker only has a few years left in him and has been pretty injury prone. O'Callaghan is a prototypical right tackle. He has the size(6'6" 347lbs) to blow up defenders at the point of attack. Also once he locks on to a defender, its all over. He has experince at guard so he could probably do some spot duty there if a starter gets injured.

With the 44th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, The Baltimore Ravens select:
Laurence Maroney - RB - University of Minnesota
sm_maroney1105+Z.jpg

When a back this good slips this far you gotta take him, especially with the Jamal Lewis situation in Baltimore.

The St. Louis Rams select Dominique Byrd.....

The Rams lack a real pass catching TE and Byrd has great hands. He was a weapon in a high powered offense in college, so he will fit right in with the Rams and their new coach.
