Michael Bush VS Adrian Peterson

I've heard in the past that alot of ya' were high on this Bush kid. If so, how does he compare to AP? Would it be wise to go defense in round one and pick up M. Bush in the second? I don't know alot about him, so hopefully you guys can fill me in.

he's big and powerful and hard to bring down, but he doesnt have peterson's speed and he isnt as punishing as peterson is. id rather have peterson at 8 than bush in the 2nd.

On one you're gambling on the broken leg. On the other you're gambling that you can coach him to change his running style so he doesn't take so many IR hits. Punishing...not finishing a ten game season in three years...someone is getting punished alright.

A high ankle sprain and a broken collar bone from landing funny after diving into the end zone have nothing to do with running styles.

I think he was referring to Bush there. He missed all of last season IIRC, due to an injury...

He was talking about Peterson.

Here he mentions Bush:

Then he goes on to talk about Peterson:

If all it takes is him diving into the endzone to get hurt then I'm even MORE worried when he starts taking NFL caliber hits.

I'm not against AP but I'd like to see us go Defense first but then again I'm not in LOVE with any of the Defensive player's. The one I like MOST probably wont be at 8 so i'm going to just let the dice roll.

I will be highly upset though if we draft offense in rounds 1 and 2. I don't see that being Kubes style so I'll have faith.

Regardless where Bush ends up, I see him being similar to Frank Gore. Gore did nothing his first year with the 49ers coming off multiple injuries in college. I don't think Michael Bush will do much his rookie year and then will surprise the entire league his 2nd year.

The thing with Bush is that he is extremely athletic.

Petrino used to talk about how Bush doesn't look that fast, but that defensive players rarely caught him from behind.

He really is a freak, and in the NFL I'm not sure how important break away speed is for a RB. The Bears didn't have a single 30 yard run in 16 games, but went 13-3.

I'm not saying he should go ahead of AP, but he has HUGE value in the 2nd round.

That could very well be the case if the Texans pick him up in the 2nd round. We're still getting used to the whole zbs and the olinemen. next year i'm not expecting anything phenominal but expect some improvement. By the 2008 season we should be clicking and can see Bush excelling.

I would be happy if we pick AP, he would be really exciting to watch and having him would shut every single person up about passing on reggie. He could be good trade bate though if he's there for us and wouldn't mind trading or getting a stud DE,DT, FS in 1st. I'd be happy with Bush in 2nd.

Wouldn't that go against Denver's history if we got AP in the 1st and then MB in the 2nd !! lol

I'd prefer AP not be on the board at 8 honestly so we wouldn't have to deal with that mess. I like the idea though it'd prolly be reachinga lil but...so Did Buffalo last year with Donte Whitner on Laron Landry. The kid is just all around a solid safety.

Then i reallllllly...REALLLLY like the idea of landing Bush in the second. He'd have a complete offseason to get healthy and might be ready to go when the season starts. I think it'd be like getting first round talent in the secong round...and maybe i think it'd be great if he ended up being more of gamer then......

What mess is there? He doesn't have any off field issues and the injury this year seemed to be a freak type injury if that's what your refering too. I'd love to have AP there at #8.

I think he meant the mess as in deciding to pick somebody else instead of AP. The whole mess as in the media being like omg the passed on Peterson, they really are dumb! Instead if he's not there then we can draft someone else.

Yea, from everything I've read he's seems to be a real classy guy.

I think Cleveland may be in a good spot for them. They will be either drafting 3rd or 4th. With that they may have Joe Thomas fall to them, Calvin Johnson, and Adrian Peterson. They might be able to find a trading partner that really want either Thomas or Johnson because those guys should go fast. Peterson like many people believe will probably either go to Cle or us. So if Cleveland can trad down a few spots all the way to minnesota they can still grab Peterson if thats who they really want. Washington, minnesota might jump arizona to grab thomas....or minnesota may really want Calvin Johnson so they move up to grab him instead of Tampa Bay. Could be really interesting come draft day...we could see some trades

Good point.

As most will agree, the draft isn't a particularly deep overall draft this year, so w/ fewer "star" prospects than normal, more teams may be vying for position. It should be fun regardless.

yep pretty much it. I'm not against the AP pick...if he falls to us and 8 and we get him great. Won't hear one peep out of me on that. I just think there is more pressing needs on this team then RB. Namely OL and secondary. the Front Office last year showed me that it is willing to not take the sexy pick and build something good.

I think we can adrress some of our weaknesses in FA but.... how much though? I don't see us nabbing a real big name in FA. If we shore of up OL and Secondary in FA and still have cash left for the draft then.....i'd wait for Michael Bush for the second :P
