Merriman holdout (and more)

I recall Merriman whining about the Cowboys not drafting him when they told him they would if he were available.

Now he fires his agent one day after the draft, signs the Prostons as his new agent and refuses to show for rookie camp because he feels he won't be protected if he gets injured.

Before the draft, I would've flipped a coin over Merriman or Ware. I wold've taken either one of them. Glad things have worked out so far.

The Postons are the worst veteran agents around. They not only piss off teams but manage to harm their clients at the same time. I really wish the media would make sure Joe Public knows that they botched the Winslow situation on several levels. :dangit:

Merriman and Poston are complaining about some contract talk about being injuried before getting a contract. Make you wonder if he is hurt?

gotta hand it to your boys HUGE, Demarcus Ware is gonna be fun to watch develop. Marcus Spears & Julius Jones for trading with the Rams so they could pick Steven Jackson a win/win situation. your gonna enjoy this coming season, the Tuna can tune a fish :fishing:

I won't truly enjoy a season until we've got a QB that is playing well and is under 30 years old.

Until then, we're just trying to rent a championship.

But the front 7 on defense (no matter what the alignment is) should be stacked for quite some time.

Cocky *******, talks trash about Eli Manning, says some **** about the Cowboys, then he is gonna hold out, hes gonna get kill by O-Linemen....

OK, so Merriman knows if he gets injured in camp, he could end up with peanuts, so he decided to wait until his rookie contract is signed to report.

If you worked your whole life towards one goal (playing in the NFL) wouldn't you want the assurance that all your work was worth it before you reported to camp on good faith (knowing a team will never extedn the same to you if you get injured)?

He hasn't done anything I object to, but cowboys fans especially seem to think he's a bad guy because he was mad about being lied to about being drafted.

Well, if any of you remember the ESPN piece on the Poston Bros., you'd remember that they are notorious for screwing over their clients and the teams of their clients. They call it good business and they like to use the RACE CARD whenever the media jumps on them for screwing over people. They also use the race card when trying to get new clients....."keep it in the family", and "take care of your own" are famous phrases they throw around when "recruiting" new clients. Guys like that and agents that are too cocky for their own good (see Willis McGahee's agent) get on my nerves.

I find this amazing. How many of us would go into work if we weren't being paid?

Even when we go in for orientations at our jobs we are GETTING PAID. So why could anyone be mad for him wanting to come into his JOB and know he's going to get paid?

You going to have him come do work for FREE basically. Crazy.

It just goes to show how spoiled these athletes are now a days. If you are injured before you get to rookie camp, then come straight out and say it. Jerk should not get to play any regular season games unless they are signed by a specific date. Besides...they are making more money than everyone on this message board combined to play a game.
yeah, a game that can take your health from you. All this guy wants is insurance, just like anyone else.

And that is what he has been offered. The same insurance that SD has used for Rookies for several years while the contract is worked out. The Bit@h seems to come regarding amount. Interesting that it is the Poston's who are holding out vertually all of their players. Has the look of another Poston BS play to strong arm the SD folks.

You are correct. However, that still doesn't change that he is/was offered the same thing that SD has done for rookies. It's not that it isn't available, he just wants something special for him.
