Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas

My dad just let me know that he bought nine tickets for the game. Should be fun with the wife, kids, my dad, brother, and nephew. Gig 'em Aggies.

Kyle is bringing down some friends for the game. They got their tickets thru the student pull at A&M. I am looking for tickets for the rest of us - 3.

Who is tailgating and where?

I'll be tailgating where we normally are - I have both platinum spots C1&2

If anyone needs parking passes, get with me at the tailgate - I have two extra blues & one extra platinum.

Gma - I may have an extra single on the Aggie side Section 128 around the 30 yl. Let me know if you're interested.

I have 2 tickets for sale. If they are my Texans seats, then they are section 551 row B.

PM me if interested.

David, I'll take your extra platinum. I'll bring money to the tailgate. I might want a blue also. Will let you know.

I'm looking for four seats. Nothing too expensive, just taking my dad, brother and girlfriend. Was thinking of doing 4 ticket, 4 hotdogs, 4 drinks for $99. Not sure what section that is, but I'm guessing it's in the 600's. If you got a better deal than that, let me know :D

That's probably the cheapest way to go, Dutch. BTW - feel free to come join us in the Blue Crew spot for some tailgating.

Cool, thanks! I'll try to stop by, although I'm not certain we are going yet. My brother's birthday is the 30th, and anniversary with my better half is also the 30th. Busy couple of days...

Question.

Is the Meineke Car Care bowl of Texas profitable for the City of Houston? I see ticket sales have just now passed 45,000... Is that the kind of draw they expect? Do you expect to see many Northwestern fans?

Dutch, I have a line on 4 tickets in section 137 for $50 each. I'll shoot you a pm.

I have the plague, and am hoping to recover by gameday. But not looking good at this point.

Ah I already bought the family ticket pack last week, so I don't need them. Thanks for thinking of me though! :)

The Bubonic Plague wouldn't stop me from making this game.

(I'd feel sorry for the guys in 609, but.... )

Get well soon.

Thanks for the well wishes, I am a bit more optimistic this morning about making the game.

We have a pass in the platinum lot and access to what Ted brings to the Blue Crew tailgates.

11 am kickoff, what time are we getting there and what are we bringing foodwise?

David, are you bringing the grill?

Any idea what time they will kick us out after the game???

Lots of questions, so few answers.

Yes the grill will be there. I'll have everything I normally do. As for food, not sure yet. Just got back in town yesterday, so I have to hit the grocery to see whats what. Might bring the pasta salad, thinking about burgers, but not sure. Want to do something different & off ther wall since it's not as chaotic as the usual tailgate and I'll have more time to cook.

Silly me, the one year I don't even think about getting the MCC Bowl tix and the Aggies are playing! My dad is pi**ed at me. Oh well.

FYI to the tailgaters, I saw this in an email I got today:

Parking
$20 cash parking
Blue, Green and Red lots will open to the public first

Due to additional entertainment events at Reliant Park property on 12/31, No Tailgating will be allowed after Kick-off.

Looks like you can't tailgate past 11am.

Katie- are you bringing the tent?

Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk

I can bring the tent, but with no tailgating after the game, I am thinking just 2 easyups may be the way to go. It should be a pretty day.

We will have our table and the camping table.

I hope we get a fresh field for our game tomorrow. Always worries me to see two teams beat the crap out of our field the day before we play.

The turf looks awful, I really hope they replace the entire field for the Texans tomorrow.

It doesn't show up well on my phone camera but the turf looks like a quilt.

I'm seeing it from here too. You can clearly see panels and divots coming up all over the field.

Hope the Texans try to pick up Fuller in the draft. The kids got mad talent, but he's been hurt much of this year.

I turned the game on just to look at the turd* and I'm disgusted. We have one of the finest stadiums in the NFL and at the bottom of it sits an eyesore of a field that by mid-season is falling to pieces. I've lost count of how many times this year I've watched players slip on it as a big chunk of turf pops out under their foot.

I really think it's going to take a high-profile Texan getting messed up to get through to the team that this isn't cutting it.

*That's a typo by the way but it's so appropriate I'm leaving it in there. It was supposed read "turf"

Glad to see I'm not the only one whose main concern with this game is the turf. Can you imagine getting AJ back and him going out with a knee injury on that stuff?

Glad to see the Aggies making an appearance in the 2nd half so far.

Did anyone else hear both teams complaining about the shape the field is in? I heard the announcers on ESPN Radio saying the players from both teams saying it was the sorriest field they'd ever played on. 2 - 3 inch seams between the pallets and treacherous footing.

Great. :bat:

FIRST things first!! THANKS David for the opportunity to buy a ticket!! I had a FANtastic time! LOVED every minute of the experience!

Second: The field looked like crap. Players were slipping all over the place, and I don't blame them for being pissed.

Stemp said he heard they were going to replace the field between the 20s. THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!! Two major slips I saw was between the 10-20 yd line, on the north end of the field. Thing is, it looked bad before the game ever started. David pointed out that it might be the same field the Texans played on last. You could see where they painted over the Texan logo. NO way will they leave that field that way for the game tomorrow. Munchek(SP) and Kubiak would be pitching a hissy fit, and rightfully so!!

The field was a joke. You could see faint traces of blue paint near the Mineke logo at the center field. Ruts started coming up on the first drive. Players were slipping on the field with no contact. If the Texas Bowl wants to draw better teams, they should look at improving the field first.

All it would take is for one of the teams to refuse to play on the field and national tv would be all over it. Probably most PR we'd ever get.
