MEDIOCRITY rules Houston sports!

fortunesfool

Practice Squad
This is one of the worst sports towns In America and they proved it again today. MEDIOCRITY rules everything in Houston ( and I dont care that its the biggest State). Theres nothing to do in this town and the sports here is and always will be MEDIOCRE. We snuck in threw the back door during Michael Jordans absence so dont even mention that!!!

How the H### DO YOU PASS ON REGGIE BUSH??? Vince Young is overhyped just like Michael Vick but REGGIE BUSH??

Pure stupidity!!! So much for selling out those seats boys! And a defensive end!!???? WHAT!!??

The whole thing is so crazy in so many ways. Lets just say this guy is the next Michael Strahan, Its pretty obvious from the Giants success that you cant build a team around a defensive end.

I had such hope for this city when I heard they were getting Gary Kubiak and Reggie Bush. I thought "with Kubiak, Carr, Johnson, Davis and Bush Houston would finally have the high powered offense that so many great teams have had through history like the 49ers and Cowboys". But Mediocrity would not be denied in this city!

You build a defense around the Middle linebacker everyone knows that, not a friggin DE.

Well now that Ive said my piece I will return to supporting NFL teams with a desire to be great. Not the morons in Houston. Mark my words the staff and fans will be regretting this for many years to come.

You must understand that turnovers are good for both the defense that creates them and the offense that benefits from them. Williams will force a lot more turnovers and this will lead to shorter fields for the Texans which will lead to more wins. The fans may regret hiring Kubiak, but they certainly won't regret the drafting of Williams. He benefits the Texans on both sides of the ball.

You Nailed it. You cant build a team around a DE. If you played sports at any level you understand that offence is the best defence.

2006 Super Bowl - Steelers over Seahawks. Both with strong defenses.
2005 Super Bowl - Patriots over Eagles - Both have strong defenses.
2004 Super Bowl - Patriots over Panthers - Both have strong defenses, but neither showed up in the 2nd half.
2003 Super Bowl - Bucs over Raiders - Well, the Bucs had a great defense.
2002 Super Bowl - Patriots over Rams - Pats had a very good defense.

Championship teams are built with defenses. You need to have a good offense, but a great defense and an average offense will beat a great offense and an average defense. I've played sports at multiple levels and I do know that.

I cant disagree with any of that but when you get a chance to pick up a STAR you pick him up. You dont pass on Michael Jordan to see what you can "build" with some unKnown.

Didnt houston have the # 1 draft pick that year... and didnt we take some guy named hakeem olajuwon... Different sport, different time, same situation. It just goes to show u that u need to let things pan out.

I agree. Especially when you're building a basketball team.

But this is football, and nobody is the 'Michael Jordan' in this sport.

Having a dominant defensive end is a huge cornerstone of a good defense. In the big picture, this is an awesome move for the long term.

You picked Sam bowie. The biggist flop ever. Even worse than Ryan Leaf.

Thank You!

For proving your lack of sports knowledge.
Sam Bowie was drafted by Portland and was NEVER a Houston Rocket.
We did, in fact draft Hakeem that year.

I'm sorry man but I fail to see how you think Williams is going to change the defense to the extent that you're claiming. First of all if he was that good NC State would have finished better than 3rd to last in the ACC. Why you're claiming he's going to have that big of an impact for the Texans at the pro level, when he couldn't do it for NC State in college. I can see him being a piece to a puzzle but ****. He is a high pick but number 1? Hmmm. But I'm still saying :fans: .

You seem to be the only one that understands. I totally agree. How can someone that comes from the ACC not a powerhouse division help the texans as much as reggie could.

Im not a fan of the Texans. Never was and with the decision making going on in their front office I never will be. When this town lost the Oilers that was it for me.

It was Idiotic to pass on Reggie Bush. He would have given the team what they needed. The Defense could have been supported through free agency.
But a player like Reggie Buush comes around only every few years.

The only thing that makes Houston a mediocre sports town, is the fickle owners and the lack of tv revenue, and the fickle fans

AND??

Those teams didnt pass on an offensive powerhouse to build their team around a ROOKIE defensive end.

Why are you here, you said your not a Texans fan and you said you never will be, why are you here?

I can't believe you're not seeing it man. Just stop for a second and think about what a great impact Jason Babin had..... oh wait.

Crap!
