Mario and Texans verbal agreement on contract

MorKnolle

All Pro
Mark Berman just reported on Fox news flash during Simpsons that the Texans have agreed in principle to a 5 year contract, just need to sign it. What now Mario doubters, are you willing to finally accept that he is our pick?

All I'm going to say is that he better be the second coming of Julius Peppers, Reggie White, and all the other DEs he's being compared to. And if he's not highly productive from very early on you will see a huge fan revolt over passing over Bush and VY. I still can't believe the Texans are screwing this up so badly...Pretty sure won't be going to the draft party now tomorrow. No wonder it's going to rain tomorrow...

McNair and Casserly are flipping idiots. What a joke if this is true and not smoke. :brickwall If they were concerned that not picking Vince would be poorly received, how do they think this will go down?

I think the "draft party" at Reliant could turn into a "draft riot".

agreed and signed are 2 different things..

Im sure if someone asked me if I would like to do my job for a million bucks I would say Yes...

100% on the money... this is the first time it was believable that we are not taking Bush.

Now the NFL will sit up a little bit and take notice of uncertainty.

Makes one wonder... which is bigger?

(a) The hole that Reggie's agent will have to dig himself out of for losing the #1 money in the last three days leading up to the draft.

(b) the smile on Mario's face

(c) the backlash of not drafting VY

(d) the backlash of not drafting RB

(e) the size of McNair's n*ts

this is begging for a poll.

My answer is (e).

OK I was hoping for a "trade down for defense" senario. I didn't mean take one with our first pick. If Mario becomes official tommorrow my blood pressure will shoot up and i'm just 23.

Texans | Team telling Williams' people he will be No. 1
Fri, 28 Apr 2006 16:42:14 -0700

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Houston Texans are in intense negotiations with the agent for North Carolina State DE Mario Williams to become the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. The Texans have even gone as far as telling Williams' people that he is their No. 1 choice. Texans general manager Charlie Casserly denied to FOXSports.com that Williams was their direction, but the source insisted that such talks are very much going on and the two sides are huddled are intense talks. Agent Ben Dogra did not want to enter intense talks unless he was confident that Houston was genuinely interested in his client for fear that they would use such a negotiation in dealings with the USC RB Reggie Bush's camp.

This is like a really bad dream. . .

I wonder if the same people who were abusing Casserly about telegraphing the Bush pick are the same people who are soiling their britches right now.

I can see this playing out any number of ways...

1. The Texans use the "verbal" agreement with Williams to light a fire under Reggie's **** to get him to sign before the 11:00 tomorrow.

2. Hold on to the Williams verbal until 11:14 tomorrow morning in hopes of a lucrative trade down.

3. If 1 or 2 doesn't play out take Mario

Signing either one before the draft leaves no possibility for the trade down. This is what I hope will happen. If it doesn't I am just fine with Bush or Mario at #1.

AGREED!!!

I just pray that they better win because the reason Houston is always down is because of crazy moves like this. Why would you pay so much for him? Mario, you better be good! Work on your consistency!

We let the Rams drop 14 points on us in under a minute with a Harvard grad QB for this????

Actually...I am o.k with Mario...he could singlehandedly give us some sort of pass rush, a healthy DD is only a couple hundred yards worse than Bush over the course of a season.
