Marcus Coleman extension, Jay Foreman status?

Anyone know the terms of Marcus Coleman's contract extension?

Is Jay Foreman a free agent after this season?

In my opinion, signing re-signing Coleman was a mistake for a team building a youthful foundation. Other than the TD return vs. KC, Coleman has been no better than Matt Stevens. And the defense has gotten better since he and Foreman went down.
 
Marcus got a 3 year (which I believe included this year) extension for $9.3 mil including a $5 mil signing bonus. It is silly to say he is no better than Matt Stevens. He provides a back up if needed at CB--remember Glenn was out quite a bit last year. The new deal actually saved money on his cap number for this year.

Foreman has played two years on a 5 year $10 mil deal he got after the 2002 season. His signing bonus was $2.2 mil so the Texans have lots of flexibility on keeping him for depth or letting him go.
 
I think Coleman is the new prototype FS. With today's open offenses you have to have a Safety that is a solid coverage guy. I think he is going to have a big year next season.

I'm not a big Foreman fan. He makes a great front line reserve though.

You're Kidding Right. And even though the Defense has gotten better without Coleman and Foreman. The D with them out also has not yet seen a top 10 offense either.

The new prototype FS is someone like Sean Taylor and Roy Williams. 230 lbs and will knock you out. You see it more now with colleges moving linebackers to the safety spot.

Did anyone see Pinkston looking for both Taylor and Roy Williams? I don't think Coleman will ever cause someone to flinch like that.
 
This is Colemen's first year @ FS give the guy a chance... The moves the front office has made have been pretty good... i mean they know what they are doing.

Roy Williams is a SS and while excellent over all is a liability in coverage. He is currently playing out of position because of the Cowboys' other problems. It would be nice if Coleman would be more physical.
 
No one compares to Matt Stevens. He is that bad.

Houston really hasn't given up too many long pass plays, and there's a reason for that - Matt Stevens is sitting at home somewhere watching the game.
 
I agree with both sides about Coleman. On one hand I have seen him cover well and make some decent plays but on the other hand our D has been sacking QBs because of the coverage in the secondary, then you do have to think about the fact we haven't faced a real offense.

Can anyone remember if Coleman played in the last Indy game?
 
I've seen every snap the Texans have ever played, at least twice.

Maybe the Matt Stevens comparison was a little unfair, but Coleman has not been very good this year. The Texans are last in the league at giving up passing touchdowns. In the first 12 games, how many times did we see receivers get behind our secondary? A lot of this is on Coleman.
 
There will be a lot of issues again this coming off season for the defense. I hate that because we need to get ourselves into a groove and stop tweaking this defense all time when it takes so long to get acclimated. Babin and Sharper are set. Wong is having a fanstastic year at ROLB, there is no denying that. He's ranked 7th right now in sacks amongst Linebackers and 5th in interceptions as well. Now Peek is doing a great job in creating plays on passing downs but he still needs to hone his skills to be a an every down guy. Peek needs to bulk up to be an every down player too. I'd like to see Wong stay outside for now and have Peek bulk up a bit to play inside. If not then Wong won't be happy and may move on.

Unless you find a freak of nature in player like Taylor a guy like Coleman will be what more and more teams play at the FS in the years to come. Coleman has corner skills, along with good speed and quickness for a guy who is 6'2", and the newer offenses are throwing a lot of slot guys in patterns with great size and exceptional speed now. He was burned early as he adjusted to the position but he is going to be a playmaker and ball-hawk back there next season after this full season of play and his second training camp at the S spot.

What is with all this he needs to work on the skills again? hes shown he can make tackles against the run, he would have just as many if not more sacks that wong if he played full time, maybe not all the INTs but a couple. And the guy weighs 250, how much weight do you want him to put on? Wong is an experienced ILB, and the defense has played better with him inside and peek on the outside. Peek is not going to switch inside to learn a new position again in a contract year, it would be another year of not playing much, and he would leave. Wong is a veteran, and if he really is a team player and believed in this team he would be willing to move inside to allow peek to play outside next year. This is the NFL, if someone making millions complains about what position they play or dont play, they dont deserve anyting. The defense has improved the last few weeks with the changes, so why mess with them again. Sharper and Wong are at years 8 and 7 respectively in the NFL, so they arent going to be around forever. If they are smart they would try to keep Peek and Babin around for their careers.

hmmmm so they didnt see the colts a few weeks ago and hold manning to 2 TDs and keep the colts O to the lowest scoring total of the year ???? I must of been dreaming that :loser
