How long do you think it will take JFF to beat out Brian Hoyer for the starting job in Cleveland?

Just the preseason.

I think Manziel is going to be the week 1 Starter in Cleveland.

I´m not a fan of Manziel, but i think if you have him on your team, you got to start him.

I voted week 1 starter. We know what he can do with a playmaking WR and now he will have one of the best in the game in Josh Gordon. But I think he is going to make Cameron a superstar.

To think had they kept their pick and taken Watkins they could have had Manziel with Watkins-Gordon-Cameron.

I don't know anything about Hoyer, but I can't see Manziel being ready to start for a while. I was OK with taking a chance on him, but he needs to learn a lot or he's going to learn it the hard way.

I can't decide between management caving to pressure or him just sitting. He won't win it on his own yet.

I think Hoyer starts week 1 and will continue to start until he has a bad game or two. At that point the Browns will install Manziel as starter.

I liked Brian Hoyer before he went down w that injury. If he's healthy I'd consider offering a late pick for him. Can't be worse than our current scrubs.

I don't really care if he does well or not. I'd be hoping he flopped if he went to Dallas or any division rival. I'd be rooting for him like crazy if we had somehow wound up with him. Cleveland? I don't really care.

Round 1 QBs start, way more often than not.

I'd prefer Hoyer if I was a Brown's fan just because he has NFL experience.

Couldn't vote... Where's the option "I don't care who wins what, both play for the Cleveland Browns". :)

lol! yeah, I'm pretty indifferent to it, as well.

Funny story this morning. My dad has always said "taking the Browns to the Super Bowl" when going to the bathroom for a certain break. So my sons have picked up on it over the years.

So I tell my youngest son this morning that Manziel got picked by the Browns, and he immediately said "Johnny Football is taking the Browns to the Super Bowl!". :D

I don't wish anything bad on Manziel, but I don't care either way. Should be good entertainment...well, 'cept for the overwhelming hype machine...look forward to seeing him face the Ravens defense in week 1, tho'.

This. So I voted VY just to be contrary. FTR, I'll be rooting for Hoyer. Well, as much as I can give a damn about the Browns, anyway.

I went VY, too. He's learned that he needs to study the playbook, so he's already improving! Plus, he's a winner.

Me neither, but only because the New Black Panther Party wouldn't let me by.

I forgot Vince Young was there too. Now if only The Browns trade Hoyer to the Texans for Keenum they'll have the axis of evil. I like Hoyer, but I think he'll have a short leash and the 2nd string QB VY or JM will get the nod.

Nah, they need to get Tebow. JM, VY, and Tebow battling it out for the starting job in CLE would be worth watching.

I don't expect him to begin the season as the starter as he's got some things to clean up mechanically and a few other things to work on .... How long it takes to polish those flaws I don't know , maybe its half a season , maybe the entire season but its obvious he's their QB of the future.

No reason to rush him into action with Hoyer on the roster.

But, don't you understand........it's the Browns.......:spin:

Because they're going to start Manziel & have Vince Young as their back up.....

I know it's the Browns, but c'mon....

Not sure why you find that incredible. Hoyer has 4 starts. He is not some vet QB like Fitz. Heck VY is much more of a vet backup.

I think VY can really show Manziel the ways of the sausage. Sort of like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, except with meat products instead of lightsabers. :hothboy:

I'm still dumbfounded that people bought into this Manziel stuff hook, line, and sinker.

I realize that he's exciting and compelling. But I just don't see it at the next level. Seems like a lot of NFL teams agree with me.

Belichick's comments on the "leaked" Pat's scouting report are quite entertaining.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked about the situation on Friday night and issued the most Belichickian non-denial, denial that you'll ever read. In short, he doesn't confirm or deny if the 'Manziel Report' actually came from his team.
"With all due respect, I hate to admit this but I don't think I've been online in a couple days or weeks or whatever, so that's not really an important thing to me. I don't even know what's online and what isn't online," Belichick said. "But I would say we probably have, I can't even imagine, 10,000 pages of information. It's a lot of information. There's no way I can sit up here and tell you that I've read it all. I've read a fraction of it. But we have a ton of information on all the players that are in the draft. What's online, you should go talk to the geniuses that are online. I don't know. MyFace, YourFace, InstantFace. Go talk to whoever you want that does that stuff. I don't know."

So basically, the answer lies somewhere on MyFace, YourFace and InstantFace, we just have to find it.

Haslam to Johnny Manziel: 'This isn't Hollywood'

Johnny Manziel entered Cleveland drenched in celebrity and immediately became the most popular man on the team. His selection provided a suffering fan base with brief euphoria -- some went a bit loco.

The team, however, plans on reining in Johnny Football's expectations.

Owner Jimmy Haslam said Monday that the team told Manziel to act "like a backup quarterback," per ESPN.com.

"We were frank with (Manziel) on Friday that's the expectation, you're the backup quarterback," Haslam said while speaking at a Pro Football Hall of Fame luncheon in Canton, Ohio, per The Plain Dealer. "This is a hard-working, blue-collar town, this isn't Hollywood. We want you to come in and go to work."

The Browns open rookie minicamp Saturday, with organized team activities to follow next week. Haslam said the team plans to begin with Brian Hoyer as the starting quarterback.

"It's his job to lose," Haslam said of Hoyer.

Manziel's teammates said before the team's annual charity golf outing that the rookie wouldn't be automatically granted the job.

"I think good old Johnny Football is going to be a good addition to Cleveland," center Alex Mack said Monday. "Don't know who the starter is going to be, though."

That is the man snapping you the ball, Johnny.

"There's no handing over the job," tight end Jordan Cameron added.

At the end of the day, the players acknowledged that Manziel's off-field popularity is meaningless as long as the team wins.

No this is not Hollywood.........it's a circus.

Why do you feel the need to tell your QB you just drafted in the first round: "This isn't Hollywood" ???

That's just funny right there.

I cannot recall any previous story in the NFL where an owner publicized his comments to a player that he needed to act like a back up.

Kind of bizarre, to be honest.

Perhaps for the first time in his life, Manziel has been told to sit down and shut up.

It could get crazy in Cleveland if Hoyer wins the starting job but makes any mistakes. I have no doubt that Browns fans will be chanting Johnny's name...maybe even if Hoyer plays well.
