Linebackers

It was nice to see that combination of linebackers playing together, however I don't think they will be our starters this season. Foreman will probably retain his starting position this year, but that combo will be in on passing downs. I was disappointed with the pressure we got on the QB, even with our best pass rushing LB's in the game, although I think that can mainly be attributed to lackluster performance out of our DLine and good play from their OLine.

Foreman played horribly tonight and I think he is in danger or losing his starting position except for the small fact that Peek is no mensa candidate and is going to come along slowly still. Otherwise I'd say Foreman's starting days at the Buc are shrinking. He is getting abused in a power game. He was the furthest guy in the back of the end zone on the Bettis TD and didn't force much action in most of the other plays I could catch. He is only really good in pursuit and he really needs help when he is run right at.

Yea, the Steeler's Haynes I believe, 3rd string running back, made Foreman look silly on one play where Foreman had time to anticipate the catch and make the open-field tackle. Haynes just stiff armed Foreman and ran on by like it was no big deal. On the other hand, Peek had a couple plays where he didn't wrap up his tackles, and in general didn't look too hot. In the long run, I see Foreman losing his starting position, but I think barring passing downs he'll be our man at MLB for one more season.

It's hard to get much out of that beating. Everyone looked pretty bad. I do recall seeing that Foreman in the endzone play. He seemed like he was sitting in the best seat of the house. Unfortunately he was supposed to be playing. All kidding aside our front 7 looked like it got pancaked on every play. As for the Steelers Defense it looked as if they blitzed quite a bit and faked the blitz quite often too. That seems a bit odd for a preseason game. But perhaps someone else who watched the game more closely, and is more familar with whats usually expected out of a 2nd preseason game can tell me if its unusual. idonno:

Yeah, Foreman looked ridiculous. If they can't get Peek's head screwed on straight, I wouldn't be surprised to see Shantee Orr outside on run downs and Wong inside... or even Wong outside on run downs with Marcus Bell inside. Peek's containment and awareness is horrific, but he sure is disruptive!

I didn't watch Wong the entire night, but I thought he did a good job in Foreman's EX-SPOT. Foreman showed poor tackling ability. Although on the Bettis short TD, Sharper over-ran his gap responsibility letting the big guy through into the endzone. I'm just glad this happened in the pre-season rather than when it really counts.

I kept my eyes on Babin the whole night. He's coming along great. That play where he brought down big Ben, did anyone see a receiver in the area where he threw the ball? He was practically on his back when he threw that, and it didn't look like he was outside the pocket from my vantage point. They got flagged for illegal man downfield, instead of grounding.

If any of you are looking for something to make you feel better about the game, the defending super bowl champs got their hind parts handed to them by the bengals - 31 - 3, and the Dolts got beat by the Jets 31-7.
