Linebacker Coach?

Koolaid Time

Drink Up!
Think Mike Singletary would take the job? After all, it looks like we are going "hometown good ol boy" on Defense.

Oh why not? Got any hometown candidates for DB coach? As a matter of fact why don't we just make it an employment requirement from now on. At least we can blame the "home town heros" when the team continues the suckage.

i think its highly doubtful that a former HC would immediately demote himself to a linebacker coach, if anything he will take up a coordinator job or take a year off then find another HC or DC job

You may be right .... I may be crazy .... but it just may be a lunatic you're looking for ....

He's not originally from Houston, but UH defensive coordinator Brian Stewart is the favorite for the DB coach gig. And he was the assistant DB coach for the Texans in 2002-2003.

Then Singletary might consider a job with the UFL. Because no NFL team will be giving him the keys to their team anytime soon.

YUP..... Lester Hayes!! Aaron Glenn, oh but the mother of all defensive backs for a coach.....

Wait for it...

Wait....

Darrell Green!!!!
Done! Game over!!!

To hell with it, why stop with football players. Could non football players be any worse than what we had this season?

How about some ex Astros or Rockets for Texan coaching positions? Bring Kelvin Cato in. He got a buttload of money from Houston for doing absolutely nothing...

I don't know - Rod Marinelli spent a year as the Bears D-Line coach the season after he was let go from Detroit before being promoted to their DC at the beginning of the 2010 season.

Granted, Singletary doesn't have the stench of an 0-16 season on him, but like Marinelli, he never spent a day as a coordinator before getting a HC gig, and for my money, Marinelli can coach circles around Singletary.

How about letting the fans coach the D! On each play, a fan gets a mic to tell that player what to do: stick in man coverage, zone, blitz, drop back in coverage. Think how fun it will be when the entire Defense goes on constant blitzes!!!

While not a native Houstonian, he is a Texan; how about Jerry Gray?

Sweet idea!!!! If it's anything like me on Madden 11, it will be all blitzing!!! Or FG Block if I know they are running...

I agree, that HC gig in SF surely bumped Singletary down quite a notch, but to the level of position coach?

I guess it depends on how bad his 'leadership abilities' really were, and how much of a egomaniac he is, because if the word in the league is that he's useless with any sort of stripes on his shoulders, then it would be the smart more to revert to coaching the LB position only.

On a serious note..

He did coach ray-ray for a season in 2003 as lb coach
And not sure how much of an impact he had on Willis in sf

However, he is probably a little too firery or the texans taste

Jerry Gray did a nice job in Seattle as a DB coach. Maybe he'd take a lateral move to his home state.

hE MAY BE OUR dc, OR AT LEAST A CANIDATE. hE IS A PRETTY SOLID DEFENSIVE MIND, IF I REMEMBER CORRectly. Sorry about the caps, but I noticed half way through the post and dont want to retype.

He won't be our DC. Our GM and owner are going to pretend to look at options and then hire Wade Phillips. It was a done deal as soon as we read the name "Bum Phillips" in recent headlines.

I think Jerry Gray has interviews here before, or was requested to and denied by his team at the time. He would could very well be a candidate if they put a serious list together for DC.

OR how about Craig Biggio? Football was always his first love coming out of high school. He could put
Some heart into the D.

You think Biggio could get get Bagwell to come also?
