Let Kubiak Do His Job!

footballguy69

Practice Squad
I am an avid Texas fan and a PSL owner. Let Kubes do his job and lets support him. If he thinks Carr is the man so be it. Kubes qualifications are certainly better than probably anyone on this board. I really like Vince but I also remember the A & M game where he was very rattled and almost lost his composure. I think it will be like that everyday in the NFL. Remember Kubes only has a 5 year contract and needs to win now!:)

I don't see anyone stopping him. I hope he does well. I think he is off to a good start.

Dead on post. We have to give the man our support and confidence. If he thinks Carr is the one...then let's see what they can accomplish together. Regardless, I think this will be a fun season!

So Kubes is a QB friendly coach all the more reason to consider taking the most gifted QB talent (Vince Young) in a long long time as well rejuvenate one thats been shell shocked in decline (David Carr) thats excellent value & a direction I'd support :ok:

Of course you're right Football. Here's a guy who played QB in HS, college, and was in the Pros for 10 years or so. Played with and or coached Young & Elway. I think that's a pretty impressive resume ?
But guaranteed, we will still will have people on this Board who work in a Bank,
a credit union, practice law, even sell cars for a living come out and dis
Kubiak like they have a clue what they're talking about.
Hey, but they've got their opinions though. Right ?

I like this hire as much as the next guy, but come on now. Nobody is perfect, and there have been several instances where us lawyers, bankers, and poker players (me) have been right about a prospect or position when the so called "experts" have got it wrong. I agree, let the man do his job, but he isnt above criticism or alternate opinions. His opinion that he can save carr doesnt make my opinion that carr is unsaveable invalid, just different.

Although I will reserve my comments on our situation after I see our hired coaching staff, the schemes that will be applied, and what we do in the draft; That was an excellent and a very articulate post...thanks SWT for your input and opinion.

Anyone has the right to speak thier mind even if it is contrary to your opinion. When it comes to coaching, particularly football in Texas, getting second guessed is part of the job.

I agree that we all have our opinions....BUT....

...wouldn't you agree that certain opinions carry more weight than others? idonno:

More specifically, if a talented, well-respected offensive coach like Kubiak has things to say about one David Carr, doesn't his opinion carry a little more weight than us mere fans?

Last time I checked, none of us were being interviewed by NFL teams for our opinions! ;)

We are going to need everyone to stop getting in Kubiak's way. He can't do his job if we don't allow him. And while everyone is being congnizant of professional space, get off Carr's back as well. Since they are professionals they will not be able to perform due to fans having opinions.

If Kubiak can't take the heat of the fans then he should not have taken the job. I am sure he will do fine, but if a coach needs "coddling" how does that bode for our high priced shell shocked QB? Hugs for everyone, yeah!

heh-heh, funny! I bet in reality Kubiak is oblivious to what fans think or want. I doubt he spends a second of his day thinking about fan desires....which is a good thing, of course. Heck, he put up with rabid Broncos fans for a long, long time. H-town fans have nothing on the passion that Denver fans show for their team.

Carr has got his own problems, and he's on a very short leash in 2006 with the current mood of Texans fans. Some of us will give him some leeway to learn the ropes of a new offense, but I have no doubt that many other fans will fill Reliant Stadium with boos when he makes his first mistake. It's not a moment that I'm looking forward to.

no i dont think any opinion has more weight than mine. Im the most qualified person i know to make an opinion as a fan, and kubiak may be the most qualified to have an opinion as a coach. However, after 4 years of sub-500 football, where i didnt really protest any decisions the organization made, thinking it would be in the best interest of the franchise, im not quite willing to go blindly down the rabbit hole again.

As far as Kubiak's "qualifications," let's get real. I have just as much experience as an NFL head coach as he does and just as much experience at being an NFL sidelines coach as well.

Kubiak has more qualifications than every person on this board combined. He'll forget more about football than we'll every know. I think Kubiak gets the credit that he deserves.

So I guess you have three superbowl rings too, right?

Exactly!

I plan on giving DC the benefit of the doubt on the field for the first have of next season, but he doesn't show progress by then, the boos will come out and I will be one of them.

As far as this board is concerned, there are opinions that should carry more weight then mine, like Kubiak's. Since none of us are named Kubiak and since none of us know anymore then the other person, all weights are equal.

If you don't like it either don't read my post or there are filtering system you can use.

What does this have to do with HC experience? I do believe even the ground crew gets playoff shares.

As a HC, he gets and deserves no credit whatsoever because he has never held that position. He might be good as an OC. But a HC, he will be a disastr.

Nice. Not even one offseason, let alone a game, under his control and he WILL be a disastrer? This is great. Maybe we should forget about it and fire him already. Lets start a thread now. Ill make a pink soap avatar and you get posting. So whos front runner in your book? He needs to be a former head coach cause there the only ones who deserve any credit. Jim Hasslet for H/C. Or maybe Mike Tice? As long as Im invited to his boat parties Im cool with him on board. :sarcasm: Really let the guy sink or swim befor you proclaim him a "disaster".

Is Bobo being serious?

At the risk of redundancy:

(a) Who should we have hired instead?
(b) What are the qualifications we should be looking for in a HC?

Shanahan, Holmgren, Belicheck, Billick, Gruden, Cowher(sp), Saban, Parcells, Gibbs, etc..... none of them were head coaches before they were head coaches. I'm really not understanding what you are getting at.

Anywho, We've got Sherman on our team. He's got some headcoaching experience. I guess Kubiak is trying to appease you, and meet you half way. The least we can do, is give him a chance.

It also wouldn't be a bad idea to recognize what he did in Denver, and try to extrapolate some of that to what he might do with the Texans.

I think I understand what Bobo is saying. People like Norv Turner were good OCs, but never seemed to make it as HCs. I'm not saying that Kubiak isn't going to be a good HC, I think he will, but I can get an understanding where Bobo is coming from. JM:twocents: .

And u call ur self a fan. I believe McNair has made a great decision by bringing in a young bright mind into the organization that will be hear for years. Most assistants brought in are fairly young, with the exception of Sherman. The Texans are on the way up and i'm excited about next season no matter who they take in the draft. I'm on the side of drafting Bush and i would like to see the rest of the draft go this way.

2nd rd= OL winston USC/Giles Georgia
3rd= TE Dominque Byrd USC/ OL Stenavich Michigan
4th=S Donte Winter OSU if we are lucky.

This board has spawned alot of TO's lately. As he's a cancer to any team he joins, these TO's have been a cancer to these boards. Someone mentioned in a posting the other day you can put posters that ya don't like on ignore? I can't find that option, anyone care to help me. It will reduce my bloodpressure, and make me a happier reader :)

Thanks in advance

Click on the member's name, and go to their profile. You'll see "Add [member's name here] to Your Ignore List" on the red bar. Click it and it'll be taken care of accordingly. :)

I'm sure if McNair and Kubiak really wanted to bring winning football to Houston they would get Belichek to come to Houston as the OC and Cowers to come to Houston as the DC. Since they've gone another route it's apparent that they want to lose.

Obviously this is said in total sarcasm. Half the people are complaining about Kubiak's hires, but nobody has a reason. I'm beginning to think that they are life long pessimists. Who should they look at. They can't bring in coaches that are already at the OC or DC position without the consent of the other team. They can't look at coaches that are position coaches unless that team gives them permission (Bush at Arizona). Sure, there are a few retreads out there, but I'd rather go in a different direction than grab someone that was recently fired or has been out of a job for awhile. If Mariucci, Martz, Sherman, Gray, Bates, etc....were the greatest coaches in the world and were no doubt guarantees to lead their next team to the Super Bowl why is it that nobody hired them as HCs? So far only Martz as Lions OC and Bates as Bills DC have even been offered Coordinator spots.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there are no members of this message board that are current or former NFL owners/general managers/coaches. I trust that the group we have will make it work and have faith in them. If it doesn't work out, the team will look for another answer.

1. Kubiak was definitely the right man for the job.
2. I look forward to many succesful years here in Houston.
3. Not JUST because he's from here ...but that certainly is sweet.
4. Not only that ...but I, for one, won't stand for any Kubiak bashing round here.
5. Unless, ofcourse, he doesn't draft Vince Young ...then all bets are off ...and I'll even cast the first stone!

I'm going to have to go to my dredge tailings and send you several bushels of rocks so you are prepared. Just return any gold you find in the tailings, however. It would be very much appreciated.
