Latest Trade rumours re DW4.

Why? The NFL made it a point to voice their opinion before the first regular season game that they don't have any reason to act on the DW situation (CEL or suspension). Nothing has changed since then.
They don’t want to make that mistake now. That’s why they haven’t spoken out on it yet. They messed up on the Eziekel Elliot case.

OK, it might have been before the camp, but still, nothing has changed...

Nothings changed because he isn't starting. We are not parading him about. As long as he's in the shadows the nfl isn't forced to make a move. I really don't see a problem with the quotes you responded to.

IMO, the only thing we have to go on when figuring out what the NFL will do is what they said, anything else is speculation. IMO, something would have to change with the investigations, such as indictments, charges filed, etc. for them to not let him play.

So, let's assume we trade dw to the Dolphins. All of a sudden he's the subject of every show and the face in every camera...

Do you think the nfl will treat it any differently then while he's here in the shadows?

Honestly, I have no idea, but I think the talk of every show will be how Houston got fleeced if he's playing well and how Miami got a bargain. The media hasn't focused on the criminal side of the situation yet, and if there is significant news on that front, maybe they will then.

His performance isn't relevant to our conversation. It's the action the nfl takes or doesn't when he's back in the spot light. He isn't in the spotlight here. He would be starting after a trade and the nfl would be forced in someway to respond.

Do you think they want a potential sexual predator as the face of the league?

They'll act to save face for the league. That is not speculation.

Why wouldn't they?

If a video pops up I'm sure they'll do something. But because of these allegations, I doubt it.

Dw's advertising possibilities have gone to nothing because of this fiasco. Does anyone really think the nfl will treat him any differently?

They haven't and won't address it until they have to. As long as he's not on the field they'll continue to plug their ears with fingers and hum stupidly.

Beg to differ. Yes it is speculation as to the timing of any action by the NFL. You say the NFL will take action before any legal issues are addressed and/or settled. Others, myself included, say the NFL will not act until further into the process. Both are speculation.

that’s right but also the reason why I’d be awfully nervous as a potential suitor. And the debate over what they would do to his status this season is peanuts compared to the risk that a Grand Jury ultimately indicts him. That devalues him greatly next season and beyond and certainly takes him off the field for the foreseeable future.

This article kinda fits with what you are saying. It's about IF Miami trades for Watson...it should cost someone in Miami their job. Which, after reading the article is something that could happen. However, not for the trade but for other reasons leading to the trade. Take a read:

It depends on who you ask. John McClain, for what it's worth, says Glazer is full of it and is being used by other teams. The Texans are not leaking any details. McClain claims this is a low-hanging-fruit story that lacks any sort of accountability, so these national media figures can pretty much just make things up or 'report' unsubstantiated takes.
Wonder where else you heard that .....

Jay Glazer is full of crap
That dude has played this thing for clicks 3 times already ....August 5th , September 12th and again September 29th.

Kinda funny he stated the Texans "Softened their stance" on trade compensation ..... then the next report is 3 #1's and and and ..... So much for the softening of .... anything.

Florio doing the same thing ..... I need some attention , think I'll post on DW4 : Dolphins interested .... bla bla bla.

well to be fair the softening was from 3 round ones and 3 thirds supposedly offered before all women came forward that was turned down by Houston to something less not stated months later IIRC.

yep this was posted yesterday I think. My hopes if true is SF trade pick to Dolphins at 1.27 and Miami's own in 2023 + the round one from SF trade = 3 1sts

X Howard CB to reduce Dolphins cap and absorbs DW's $10 m base salary.
Jaylan Waddell WR I doubt Miami lets him go as DW should want him desperately.
Tua Tag QB Miami can save about $3 m & I agree to him to leverage getting Waddell.

and either LB Jaelin Phillips or safety Jevon Holland as final "3 assets".

Final agreement three firsts + Howard + Waddell & Tua or neither + either Phillips and/or Holland.

Pancakes is a heck of a lot closer to the goings on of this franchise than Any other reporter .... and remember he was on the search committee .....
Wasn't someone from the San Antonio Spurs on the search committee too? And wasn't some firm paid 6 figures to do a search? Seems like all that mattered about as much as Pancakes being there.

That said, I don't disagree with the Glazer's and Florio's of the world trying to get their clicks with this. That's just the life after the death of journalism that the world is now.

I'm worried that if the off-season comes around, interested teams may want to call the Texans bluff. This year the Texans can hold fast because his salary is $10.5M, but in 2022 it jumps to $35M. The Texans' ownership do not want him on the team (IMO) nor does he want to be here, if teams low ball do you think the Texans will keep him on the bench next year if his legal issues are not resolved?
True and pressure on Texans to deal but purchaser looks at annual average which for next three years is only $22.5 which is great for DW stats/age/length of contract etc.

I think Stephen Ross is awfully nervous already as his round one Tua Tag is failing him for whatever reason & public opinion is throwing him in the crapper. IMO, DW makes Dolphins a division champion and a player in SB consideration. Most local fans like here will grumble but trophy eyes will take over. A trade also eliminates future grumbling by two season pro-bowler X Howard.

Texans didn’t choose to start Watson b/c he’s been found guilty of all accusations nor has the NFL chose to put Watson on CEL b/c he’s guilty of the accusations involved in his current situation. Now, teams could be apprehensive to make a trade at this point b/c of Watson’s current situation but absolutely no one from the NFL or team GM’s have guaranteed knowledge that Watson is going to be found guilty.

The potential trade and playing of Watson could push Goodell to make a decision on what to do but is he really going to suspend Watson on hearsay? If he felt that was possible, Watson would’ve already been put on CEL. Unfortunately, I don’t think Goodell can react to gut feeling and like other will need to wait for court decisions.

They made a big stank over some dogs, so we can best believe they will make a stank over some women.
There was a lot more evidence with the Dogs. There were protests outside the Falcons Facility.

The investigation into the dog fighting began in April 2017. Neither the NFL or the Falcons took any action until August after Vick plead guilty.

Just realized I posted this again, my bad

Glad you did , I was looking for that tweet and couldn't find it.

yet he supposedly misreported info on the DW situation since the beginning according to some on here.
The rap Pancakes gets around here is very unfair .... That dude's tied into this franchise as deep as a reporter can get.
Just because he doesn't report something doesn't mean he doesn't know what the facts are.

I am not concerned about the information that John McClain doesn't report only what he does.

Not sure why you posted the same article that I replied to. Going from three round ones and three thirds to now 3 round ones and three additional assets is a softening anyway you look at it.

Noah Igbenoghene, Tua Tag and Jevon Holland could be those three assets.

No - Cal , Watson , Easterby & Pancakes.

And wasn't some firm paid 6 figures to do a search?
Yes - Korn Ferry & might have been 7 figures but ultimately ignored. Their recommendations were Omar Khan & Louis Riddick.

Seems like all that mattered about as much as Pancakes being there.
Irrelevant , he was "on the committee" and 3 of the 4 had the same recommendation in Caserio while Watson flew off to Cabo San Lucas.

That said, I don't disagree with the Glazer's and Florio's of the world trying to get their clicks with this. That's just the life after the death of journalism that the world is now.
I just disagree with the blatantly false information they are giving just to keep the story alive so they can get continue to get clicks ....

The trade deadline can't come soon enough so we can put this topic to bed until the legal issues are resolved.

God, after listening to Riddick on MNF, I'm glad Cal didn't listen to the Porn Fairy.

Listening to this guy made me switch over to Peyton/Eli

Yep, if he was on the committee you would've thought it might be important enough for him to stay around for the GM hire. Of course this says more about his character (I didn't get my way I'm going to Cabo and BTW, trade me, even though I just cashed my signing bonus and I just signed a 156 mil contract.) than anything else, or lack there of.

Riddick makes me cringe… like Tillman.
If Watson goes to Miami, they can keep Tag. I’d rather roll with Mills and Taylor. Pilfer Miami’s defense for the “assets”

You know its funny when i hear folks talking about trading off all our assets for draft capital so that the rebuild & our competitiveness can be "fast-tracked". it almost never works out that way. The reality is when you take into account how you strip your team down of all the talent you already had on the roster before the tear down, you actually wind up setting your franchise back when the next regime eventually is brought in and has nothing to work with.

The most recent case study in all this. The Dolphins.

Been lurking on their website for weeks now trying to get a sense of how they feel about possibly landing DW4...and after 9 top 60 picks over the past 2 seasons...5 of which being 1st rounders...........................................................................fans there legitimately believe they are the worst team in the league right now :corrosion:. Its literally almost identical to our MB right now with the way they've started going after the HC/GM and owner...bad o-line........talking about how brittle WFV is who, surprise surprise, is hurt again...lol. They are literally no further along than us RIGHT NOW and are probably the 3rd best team in their division after all that manuvering for draft picks over the last 2 years. Actually they are a little worse off now with Philly having their 1st rounder for next years draft i believe, & their chosen franchise qb looking like nothing special.

At this point, many are hoping for the hail mary pass of getting DW4 in a trade to salvage what Flores/Grier have put together...

Pretty much sums up where we're with ownership, management and the Houston Texans.

Texans CEO Cal McNair speaks on Deshaun Watson trade (audacy.com)

So just to be clear a Caserio deal for trading DW4 IMO will likely end in a major disappointment for Texans fans. Unless of course you've a brain dead GM like Vikings had when they traded for Herschel Walker or a Head Coach type Mike Ditka FUBAR trade for Ricky Williams. That can still happen and would bail Caserio's butt out of hot water. If the Texans trade DW4 by the Nov 2 deadline then they have screwed this up.

I am hearing Miami is a go for 2 1st round, a 2nd, Tua and 2 3rd picks and a prenuptial for any legal problems. And the sticking point is that prenuptial. Because, no team has ever written something that will give some type of pick package back if a player goes to jail.

I heard this on "Turned up for Watt" podcast from Monday.

Let's see, this may not be bad. If the Texans give back picks, then the contractual rights should revert back to the Texans. If W goes to prison, he will be suspended and the Texans won't be out anything. Then when he's released, the Texans can trade him again.

So now John McClain is the true source of Insider information on the Houston Texans? I thought everybody here despised and ridiculed him.
I'm not "everybody". :fingergun:

McClain is about as close as we will ever get to a stable media source anywhere close to the Texans. Like I said, for what it's worth. . .

I'd give him more credence than someone like Glazier that is not even remotely linked to anyone in NRG. JMO
