HELLO TEXAS.....Anywho you might want to know why me Bengalguy is posting on your website....It's not to tell you that the Bengals are going to the Super Bowl this year (but they are of course) No it's nothing like that at all. I saw that your team had the fortune of getting Mr. Kendrick Starling. I really think that kid is the real deal and has the potential to be a great football player. He's extremely fast, has great agility, he seems to be confident, he's aggressive and has great hands and can make great catches but needs to work on his consistentency. I really thought he's more naturally gifted at corner back that's not a knock on him as a reciever but moreso a compliment to his willingness to mix it up with LB and such in the run game. Anywho, I think if this young man really dedicates himself..listens and works on what the coaches tell him, does his work in the weight room, studies and learns the play book through and through and gets in the film room, he has the physical skills to be a great NFL player. I'm not sure he knows how to go about getting this done, but I think he's smart enough to ask the coaches what he needs to do and do it. I was really hoping that the Bengals could have got him, because I thought he would have been able to learn a ton watching the work ethic and technique of Chad Johnson, but unfortunately he signed with the Texans. He's definately a good sleeper and is a player to keep your eye on this training camp. To Kendrick.....Dedicate yourself to what you're doing and get done what needs to be done. You have the skills to make it and be great in the League

well thanks bengalguy for your imput...i saw sterling play on tv once for san jose and thought the same about him...hopefully ya'll can finish re-signing rudi and make a run for the afc north...we are both two really young teams on the rise...the recent battles between our two teams have been fun to watch and i expect with marvin lewis at the helm things to continue to rise for cinci

Thanks for the hospitality Yeah I'm not sure about the Kitna deal either....But when you really think about it, it just has to be done. Kitna is good and what happens if he goes out and has another great year?? Then you're right back in the same situation as this year, and Palmer who has great potential is still wallowing on the bench and not learning. I was never a very big Kitna fan myself but he earned a lot of respect from me last year, and finally started to play within himself. And as long as he's not trying to do too much and force throws he's a good QB, but he still has a tendency to force the game during crunch time it seems. He did improve a lot last year though and as he improved he proved that he has the ability to be good in the league. I really would like to see them trade him to San Fran though. One, just because I think it would be easier on Palmer because if he struggle I'm sure all the sports show callers and pundints will be calling for Kitna. Two, I really think Kitna wants to start and he deserves the chance to, and if we can get a 2nd or 3rd round pick out of it, I think it helps both teams. Anywho back to the Palmer thing. I think the guy is the real deal, and the team is setting up to make the transition as easy as possible on him. The team looks to be setting up for a run heavy offense with the addition of Bobbie Williams a big masher at guard and drafting Chris Perry to go with Rudi Johnson. Plus the rest of the line is good and the recievers are good with Chad Johnson, Peter Warrick and Kelly Washington (who is rumored to have been working out like a madman this off season and might push Warrick for the other starting WR). Anywho the Palmer seems to have a good attitude and the ability to let mistakes roll off his shoulder and not effect his game, and he has a strong and accurate arm. Plus he has Ken Zampese (who seems to be a great QB coach) to help him learn to read defenses. So I think Palmer has all tools on offense to succeed and they aren't going to ask him to go out there and win games with his arm right away. In the long run it's best for the Bengals to get him on the field. He's going to make mistakes like any rookie, but he'll learn. It's still their ability to stop the run that concerns me.......I think they'll figure it out though, and I'm sure we'll have a Texans vs Bengals matchup to see who goes to the Super Bowl this year

Yeah but Chad wasn't making what Palmer gets. That is what I believe is the real reason Palmer was named the starter. Can't have that much money riding the pine.

IMO, either way, they are going to have alot of money riding the pine. You have two good QB's. Even though I think its harsh to sit kitna after the year he had, im sure the fans want to see palmer.

did you see coach ditka on the best damn sport show period a few days after they named palmer the stater...he seemed hot about the whole issue...you could tell he was pulling for kitna himself...but oh well back to starling...anyone hear how he's doing in this rookie camp we just had?

I was a bit aggrivated when Starling did not get drafted, because I know that he has winning attitude in addition to unbelievable talent as a wide reciever...rarely does one see a wideout willing to sacrifice himself to make the kind of blocks that Kendrick does, or catch the ball over the middle undauntedly; dbs could drill him and he would just get right back up. I had the privilidge of playing highschool ball with him, and he was unstoppable then...he certainly wrecked shop at Navarro J.C., and he made a name for himself during his tenure at San Jose. Im glad he has gotten the opportunity to play at the next level, and I know with the sincerest of convictions that 'Smiley' will do good things in the the NFL.

Its nice to here so many good things about him. I sure hope he makes the team and motivates other players to elevate their game. (Bradford and Gaffney) I would like to see how he does in preseason.

I hope he can still keep coming across the middle. We need an Ernest Givins type receiver that can just flat out take the punishment of going across the middle and frustrate defenses.

I wish I had a nickel for everytime I held my breath hoping that Ernest would get up...

Remember the time against Buffalo that he somersaulted (he had to) into the endzone, and although he had the stuffing knocked out of him, he still did the slide and the Dome went nuts.

I thought that was against The Browns. I also loved the way he used to make those tip toe catches on the sideline or how he would slip out of tackles and gain more yardage after the catch. He was by far my favorite receiver of the Fab Four!

Houston Highlight: Although Houston lost in overtime to Buffalo, 47-41, (that other overtime loss had yet to happen), one play captured the essence of Ernest Givins. It was September, 1989. Moon found Givins in the flat near the sidelines at the Buffalo 18. He practically did the splits as he slid to avoid the ankle tackle of safety Mark Kelso, spun upfield and eyed the end zone.
