Kellen Winslow Jr done for the season

Wonder if he picked up his Rookie of the Year award on his way back for XRays? He was annointed as the ROY by the media wasn't he? Oh wait a minute...
 
I can't tell you how upset this makes me! Now Winslow Jr. can (and will) play the coulda, woulda, shoulda game on how great he "would have" been this season. eek:

That was one heck ofa trade down by the Lions and a smart move by them, IMO.

Anyway, the Browns are really in trouble, I just heard on ESPN that the Browns DE Courtney Brown is done for the season.

Under terms of his six-year, $40 million contract with the Browns, Winslow gambled he would achieve one of 10 supposed easily achievable performance incentives. Those standards ranged from having 41 catches or 801 yards receiving or the simplest standard -- playing time.

and to think he had the lengthy hold out and worked it out so he'd get paid and now he will lose 5.4 million, or 13.5% of his contract. Not to mention it makes it much harder for him to reach more of his incentives. I wonder what the Postons are thinking now?

I hope he doesn't rush back onto the field to try and get to 35% of the snaps, he could hurt himself worse, and give himself a reacurring injury if he doesn't let it heal.

In what has to be one of the dumbest controvesies in sports, Winslow was criticized for describing himself as a soldier while he was at Miami. Folks said that was disrespectful to real soldiers. Of course Winslow was only following the lead of thirty years of NFL films describing soldiers and warriors on the grid-iron battlefield. Silly controversy--he has some personality issues but that was just controversy so people had something to talk about.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. The 5.4 million gives the Browns even more incentive to put him on IR. I believe they're already searching for a replacement, and he could end up on IR soon.

I wish I could dig up a script of his post-game interview where he called himself a :baby: ing soldier. He sure made a fool of himself that game.
 
Nevermind...found it...compliments of the examiner.com:

"It's war! They're out there to kill you, so I'm out there to kill them! We don't care about anybody but this U ... I'm a f***ing soldier!"

Those were the post-game comments from Winslow, following the Hurricanes' second straight loss, which ended the nation's longest home winning streak.

Not to mention his (Winslow's) contention that ALL Miami players are "impact players". Then you have this rookie in training camp yelling at all the veterans...

Winslow was tagged as the greatest risk / reward player since Randy Moss in terms of his personality being an issue.
 
Maybe he will take the time while he's out this season to rethink his position on some things. It sounds like he has a ego that is out of control. Sometimes karma has a way of knocking you on your butt.
