Junkie or Quitter

pv1999

Waterboy
Quincy Carter was cut for "drug" abuse.
Ricky Williams quit so he could abuse his drugs in peace.

I personally have more respect for QC because of the idea that maybe he was trying to beat his demons. Ricky is a loser because he quit.
NFL teams in serious need of talent might consider trying to work with either player, which would you choose the quitter or the junkie?

Tough one...Depends on what my team needed I guess...I agree at least Quincy was at least maybe trying to get help or maybe he was just hiding it for awhile...I guess if I am looking at talent, then Williams, although he is kind of a nut job...

well lets see, using your wonderfull line of logic, if either one of them would have been a QUITTER of the DRUGS, then they wouldn't be a JUNKIE.

which one would I take? NEITHER. They are BOTH Junkies, and they are both NON-quitters. They both got caught on a DRUG TEST.

eek: This is like asking if you would like your head chopped off with a sword or axe. Yeesh.

I'm extremely dissapointed in Carter. This was the second time he failed it. The first time he did it he went to a drug rehab center type of thing. Only people deep in the Dallas Cowboy organization knew about it. He just couldnt hold is addiction the second time and had more coke. Now according to the NFL rules if you're caught the third time thats when the suspensions start coming in. But Parcells and Jones made the right call of 2 strikes and your out. I really hope Quincy can get the help he needs to get rid of his awful addiction. Carter not only let me down but all the Dallas Cowboys down.
I'll have to go with Carter because he didnt quit

Williams made the choice.

Carter lost his job, i feel worse for him, i feel like for as long as ricky wanted to play he could have gotten past the tests.

The thing with both of these young men is their lives are in danger if they continue to misuse drugs. Eventually that will catch up with you physically and even an athlete in prime condition cannot be immune to the physical toll on one's body.

I heard a drug counselor on the radio today that said if one is "addicted" to pot the odds are eventually he/she will go onto other "hard" drugs. That may be the next step for Williams if he's not there already.

I think they both need to have counseling, professional rehab care and get their lives in order before they ever again worry about football. Their lives are far more valuable than the Cowboys or Dolphins ever could be.

I am a bit confused by the Carter situation because he denies the cocaine charge. Denial I guess.

Ricky Williams, even if I needed a QB more, Ricky Williams, weed isn't cocaine, and you have to be a pretty hardcore addict to fail 2 coke tests.
