Johnny Jolly reinstated

I had no idea before today, but apparently Johnny Jolly has been released from prison and is set to be reinstated by the League. The Packers still have rights to Jolly, but it's unlikely that they'll keep him at his current $2.5 million salary. Not a Texans move whatsoever, but it would be a good story to see this kid get back on his feet.

I wish we could give the guy a chance because he's gonna come cheap, but he needs to get as far away from Houston as possible. Too many friends, too many temptations still around. I wish him the best because substance abuse is something I'm far too familiar with within my family.

Stay clear Johnny and make the most out of it!

NFL to reinstate Packers lineman Johnny Jolly

I would be very surprised if he's in football shape. I think at best he will get a minimum deal to be a camp body for a few weeks, and then wind up in the UFL or something.

It wouldn't be hard for a guy like him to get in shape. We're just in the beginning of March so he has plenty of time. For a skill position player I would normally agree with you, but not for a 5 technique given 5 months to work with. If he's able to stay focused on football and stay away from the purple stuff he'll be able to stick on someone's 53 man as a 2 down player in a 3-4. The guy has/had that much talent in my opinion.

What makes me skeptical re. his staying clean. at the time he was last busted, he was already trying to come back from being caught with the same the year before. He was on the verge of being reinstated. It seems that left to his own during the Lockout, when testing was not performed, his internal "conscience" and personal morals did not overcome the pathologic portion of his brain that continued to send the message that "anything's OK........if your're not caught." Almost 80% of persons who end up in prison for similar reasons with similar philosphopies, wind up repeating their actions and end up enjoying a repeat vaaction in prison. I'll be hoping that Jolly somehow beats the odds.
