Joey and Travis

Do you guys think that we have a chance of getting either Joey Porter out of Oakland or Travis Taylor from Baltimore. Both are unrestricted free agents and would make great #2 receivers.

Jerry Porter, no.

Travis Taylor, yes.

The reason I say no to Porter is because he is going to be one of the more highly pursued free agents and will command top dollar. I expect him to be in a Ravens uniform next season since Moss will likely not be traded.

Taylor IMO is a good slot WR on a team with good Receivers. Porter would be nice to have, but the money is the ONLY issue.

AND FOR THE LAST TIME...ITS JERRY!!!! (i wish joey was avaliable) :heh:

I agree. Hey maybe Joey Porter can play WR...............

I see Travis Taylor maybe coming to Houston, he has the speed in the outside this offense needs but Jerry Porter? He is a good talent, but I don't see him in a Texans uniform.

If the texans some how got porter, they could make a playoff push since no team could cover both at the same time.

Yes but could either of them get open in the .074 seconds that Carr has to throw the ball? That's the real question. With pass protection that holds up the guys we've got at WR will be more than able to get the job done IMO.

our line can protect, they did it at the beggining of the year this past year, they just need to maintain it through a complete year, the only guy im not sold on is mckinney, and thats it... and no our receivers are not fine as of now... AJ is good, but we have no #2, like others have posted, Armstrong and Gaff are good slots, smart enough to pick apart a defense's core area in zones, but wont burn anyone with speed, and Starling is still developing... i doubt the texans even offer to porter... and i dont know much about Taylor... so i can not say what he will demand... i just know that we need someone that a defense is going to respect, whether it is free agency or the Draft... i have been a big supporter of Mike Williams in the draft, but that is just me... its probably not realistic but i just love wishful thinking

If we were to get a good receiver, then that would take something off our "needs" list and make it more probable to pick a center or gaurd in the 2nd-3rd round. In this article they think that we would pick a receiver over a OLineman iin the 1st Houston Chronicle Sorry for steeling your link Nunusguy.

Oh and can anyone guess in the range of how much Jerry Porter might cost us? And how much cap space do we have?

5 yrs./20 mil. is what the Raiders offered Porter. He may get a little more in the open market from a team like Baltimore, who is in desperate need for anything that resembles a wide receiver.

The O-line wasn't good at the beginning of the year. However, they were better than at the end of the year. That is what is disturbing about the pass protection. It went from bad to worse as the season went on.

I think we should spend the FA money on Kendrell Bell. This guy, although injured right now, is a great tackler, and would be a BIG jump up from Foreman.

Our first six games this past season, were against some of the absolute worst pass defenses in the league. That clearly factored in to Carr's big start.

I think you all mean Jerry Porter. Joey plays for the Steelers. I was confused for a minute there.
