Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested at 5:38 a.m. in Montgomery County, Texas, and is facing a felony assault charge, according to the Montgomery County Jail website, allegedly for family violence following an incident in Magnolia.

Ward is currently still in custody.

"We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward," Omar Majzoub, the senior director of communications for the Texans, said in a statement. "We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."

Not that it makes a great deal of difference but based on the charge, he assaulted a family member (which under Texas law, includes people he's in a dating relationship with) by impeding their breathing (which usually means he was choking someone). Clearly a crime of passion. I hope that if this is a legitimate charge that all people are safe and get help.

Will be interesting to see if the Texans cut him based on being one of the culture guys and his close ties to the HC...or will they cut him and make an example to say "no one is bigger than the team?"

Ward did not have a starting job after the CGJ trade. The Texans may let this play out and wait for the league to dole out punishment. But I can't see a path for Ward to be on the opening day roster.

Turns out Jimmie lives close to me. A little sleuthing on my part. Ritzier area. His home is worth a cool mil.

On some forum, i suggested steroids…mostly a joke but not entirely. Roid rage is a thing.
