Jets | Team liking R. Bush; but won't move up

Gary Myers, of the New York Daily News, reports the New York Jets are smitten with USC RB Reggie Bush, but will not call the Houston Texans about moving up to the top spot to get him, even with Houston willing to listen to trade offers. There are many smokescreens out and about at this time of the year, but Wednesday night, April 19, Texans general manager Charley Casserly insisted that Houston has not decided between the dynamic Bush and North Carolina State DE Mario Williams. Casserly said he hasn't received any offers for the No.1 pick. "It doesn't mean we won't," he said. "We are open to offers." One source believes Casserly is trying to use Williams to create leverage in negotiations with Bush's agent, Joel Segal. Casserly, naturally, rejected that theory and also said he is not trying to entice trade offers by talking up Williams.

With this being said Who would we honestly trade down with? The FO said there is only so far they would be willing to move down. The Saints are shopping their #2, but I do not believe they will move up to #1, they are in a good position, unless they absolutely want Bush.The Titans I believe are looking QB, so I don't see them moving up to #1,maybe #2.The Jets (well read above). Ok now we are at #5 GB. Do we dare go this far? If we do I think the BPA will be Hawk. I'm not saying he isn't good I know he is, but having the #1 position do you fall this far down and take a chance of not getting Bush, Williams or D'Brick?:confused:
 
I personally am in the Bush camp. Unless we get a "Ditka Deal". However there are alot of trade down enthusiast that I would like to hear they're opinion on how far is to far and is #5 a realistic spot to look at?
 
as i'm pretty sure the titans and jets will take leinart and cutler, ferguson could easily be available at #5. as well as aj hawk, michael huff, vernon davis, etc.
 
The Texans will take Bush with the #1 pick because he is bpa. But I don't think that is what they want to do. I think they want out of the top spot desperately.
 
Say we traded down to #5, the way I see it going would be:
#1 GB M. Williams DE (GB needs defensive )
#2 NO D. Ferguson OT ( Someone to protect Brees)
#3 Tenn M. Lienart QB ( McNair out? Norm Chow's USC connection)
#4 NYJ R. Bush RB (C.Martin getting old)
#5 HOU ???????TE Just signed two more Putz and Steele, have Bruner,Joppru,and Rivers. Thats 5 right now. As far as LB's we have Orr, Babin,Wong,Polk,Chamberlain,Cowart,Greenwood,Evans,Peek,Anderson,Pettway. Thats 11 if Peek and Babin stay at LB, 9 if they switch to DE.

The pick: +Reggie Bush, RB, USC
The Texans are surprisingly fielding far more trade offers for their pick than the Saints are at No. 2. If the deal is sweet enough, there's still a chance that the Texans could trade down a few spots (Jets?) and still get an elite player at a position of greater need, such as NC State DE Mario Williams or Virginia OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson. When all the dust settles, however, the Texans are still expected to take Bush with the first overall selection. Running back is not one of the Texans' top positional needs, but Bush is far more than just a running back. He's the most explosive runner, receiver and return man that this year's class has to offer. No other rookie will make a bigger impact than Bush will for the Texans next season.

why wouldnt the Packers pick Bush at 1? if they are trading up with us they are doing it for a purpose. If they want Williams they can trade with Saints.

Also no chance Bush falls to 4
 
Everyone is smitten with Reggie Bush. He is a highlight film waiting to happen on the offensive side of the ball. Why would you not be. Will people give up their whole draft for an offensive specialist? Hell No. They will give up for a franchise QB, or a 20+ carry RB. Even have been known to stake on an impact DE, but an offensive specialist is a little different. Now some people say Reggie Bush is Gale Sayers or whomever, I dont think so he is Reggie Bush, he is not even really Sayers like. They are Black and about the same size, but the bears worked Sayers, I doubt we will work Bush the same way.

Out of 80-90 plays each way how many do you think Bush will influence on offense. I would say more than half lets say on the high end 70% now that is alot of plays, less than DD, but I would put DDs on there if I could remember how much a part of the offense he was last year, but I cant. Out of those same plays vice versa Mario will influence go low end for a healthy high end DE and say 80%. Most DEs at least high paid high end ones are in the majority of the game on defense. So Mario will play more than Reggie, thereby just by pure thought have a greater chance to make more plays than Reggie right.

Let me know if I am totally off on this thought process.

Don't say no chance. If the other 31 Gm's are voting, they're currently saying
Bush isn't worth 3000 points. The Texans would've done the deal if there was a deal to be done. So...just because all the media/ draft gurus have crowned prince Reggie the best propect in ten years, better than {pick your icon}, the GMs are currently abdocating. No one has come to the table with the goods. So what is he worth ? I think it's beyond a ploy now. No one wants to tie up that much money into a part time back that's going to cost 50 to 60 million. And who's NFL life expectance MAY , not outlive his contract. IMHO, the other 31 Gm's are saying, nope ! Ain't gonna do it. I believe if their hand is forced, they take supper Mario, let the chips fall where they may. Tenn is to cap taxed to try and if Jax or Indi. attempt it, they will become the Detroit Lions of Berry years. I can see no down side to passing on Bush. What did Denver just do ? This draft is deep and wide, said it since December.

I think Babin & Peek are much too leaky a' vessels to put this much faith in. You get your pick of the most rock solid linebacker in this years draft. Or, the most dynamic TE prospect since Killen Windslow SR.. I mean if Davis will loosen up a two Deep for Smith why couldn't he do the same for Carr and A.J. ? And I wouldn't be surprised if Brick slips through. I would be down with Huff also. If he transitions to CB he would be a monster. Either way you're holding extra picks in a tallent laden draft. Outside of wide recivers, you can prety much stock pile tallent with the extra picks. A.J. Hawk would put somebody on the street and somebody on the pine.

I dont see the packers trading for Reggie Bush, they are implementing the Zone blocking scheme that could produce a 1000 yard, rusher of thier own, understanding that they already have three good backs with green/davenport/gado. The will probably stay put and see who falls or take Hawk as everone expects, wouldn't be surprised though if they scooped up D'Brick to complement thier new scheme however...
