So several things I wanted to talk about here...
1. I like this guy. Was thinking our round 2 pick. What do yall think?
2. I think Derek Newton sucks** (come back to this later). I also am realistic and know that the way his contract is structured he WILL be a Texan until at least 2017 when it's easier to walk away from him.
3. I like Duane Brown. I'm not going to say that his career is over because he suffered an injury late in the season when everyone goes on IR, but I will say that I don't see more than 2-3 more good years in him and after 2016 we can walk away from his pretty sizable contract with no dead money.
4. I think Hawkins can step in as maybe a rotational Tackle and get some good football experience and step up when injuries occur his first year and with a bit of molding take over for Newton, then with a bit more molding take over for Brown. Am I off base here?
5. ** Back to Newton... I love these PFF guys, but they actually said Newton was "consistent" last year (at run blocking, no mention of pass blocking). I'm obviously not an O-Line aficionado, but I take a lot of this list with a grain of salt. Yall think I'm way off base here or what?
