Some of the updates posted on the webpage in the OP indicate that Winston is suspended until he completes his community service.

He has 7 days to complete the community service, he can't play baseball until that's done. This won't effect the football season.
 
It's the pattern that's developed, folks......the pattern........that is what is somewhat disconcerting.

Winston is talented enough that he could be the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. (For that matter, he could be the first overall pick this year, if not for the NFL rule requiring players to wait until they’re out of high school for three years before they can play professionally.) But NFL teams may be wary of Winston’s off-field issues. Last year Winston was accused of rape by another Florida State student, although prosecutors did not press charges. Tallahassee Police have come under criticism for failing to thoroughly investigate that matter. Winston was also questioned by police in November of 2012 for an alleged BB gun battle with teammates, and a Burger King employee called police on Winston in July of 2013, saying he had stolen soda.

Google the ny daily news on the winston rape charges and its pretty disturbing. Combine that with the news today and he's raising red flags with his character.

For the purpose of this thread, I want to stick to his present issues with the law. Rape is an unfathomable crime that is completely unjustifiable under any circumstances and, as such, I'd feel uncomfortable making comments on accusations that weren't substantiated in the court system. This is a hot button issue and I get that it's not anything to joke about so don't think that I'm trying to make a scene here but I'm a firm believer in withholding judgement until all information has been gathered. Having said this, in the future you might want to suggest media outlets when referencing contentious stories such as this that don't create their value by appealing to the masses through creating excessive hype surrounding pop-culture issues. For example, I just checked the publication's site and the Daily News has three stories on its home page referencing Lindsay Lohan. Doesn't that kind of call into question the legitimacy of its motives in printing and promoting a story? I mean, I love Mean Girls as much as the next guy but how much newsworthy material can you really regurgitate regarding an actress (let alone one that hasn't found steady work in the last five years)?

But I digress to the matter at hand and, again, I want to stress the benefits of my wait-and-see approach. The fact remains that we don't know what kind of finances this kid is working with and, as a fellow college student with an admittedly similar and ridiculous scholarship, I can tell you that finding the spare capital required to splurge on crab legs is still damn near impossible on my budget. I mean, I have a part time job waiting tables and I still struggle to justify McDonald's after paying my bills. I can't even imagine trying to juggle the obligations that being a member of two division 1 sports teams entails, let alone to do it on top of a full course load.

You never did anything stupid when you were his age? I'm 22 and last week I blacked out when I visited my buddy's school and apparently offended a girl who was like 4'8" and sensitive about her height. My roommate just got his first DUI. **** like this tends to happen in the lives of college students. The kid's like 20 years old, tops, and he's living without adult supervision for the first time in his life. He's going to take a couple wrong turns along the way but I'd argue that this singular case (still not commenting on the rape charge here) doesn't provide enough evidence to write him off as the next Jamarcus Russel just yet.

P.S. For those of you wondering why my age is listed as 29, its because I made my profile when I was 15 and thought lying about my age would, in some way, validate my credibility. I've just been too lazy to change it since I stopped caring about such trifling matters.

I Decided to run a few of your different quotes together for comparison's sake.

A. Here's a media outlet suggestion. How about the Times? Please enlighten us on the Grey Lady's "pop-culture" fascination. Link

B. Jameis Winston quite literally has no excuse for "going hungry". If you'd ever eaten in a Division I athletic dining facility, you might be taken more seriously. As it is, you're trying to compare your "regular" lifestyle to that of the defending Heisman trophy winner.

C. Nobody is saying he's the next Jamarcus Russell. I for one don't think he's headed down that kind of weight gain trail. Crab Legs aren't all that fattening. :kitten:

D. You stopped caring about such trifling matters as telling the truth, but have an issue with others judging Winstons character? Might want to think that one over again.

Let's hope that players that are staring down multi-million dollar contracts lack the character issues (blackouts and DUIs?) that you and your roomate currently possess.

I have little doubt that he did it and it was swept under the rug because of his revenue generating ability to play football.
