I'm posting this because this is one of my best and closest friends from home. He is a complete stud and I'm very proud of him. I actually stayed with him and lived on his couch when he was the D-Coordinator at Stanford so I owe him.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Tom Williams has been hired at Yale, becoming the first black head football coach at the Ivy League school.

A person familiar with the decision confirmed the choice Monday on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement had not been made. The school called a news conference for 2 p.m. ET Wednesday to introduce the new coach.

Williams will become only the second black head football coach in Ivy League history. Norries Wilson was the first when Columbia hired him in December 2005.

The 38-year-old Williams has spent the past two seasons working with the Jaguars' defense and has been an assistant coach at Hawaii, Washington, Stanford and San Jose State.

"I am happy for Tom," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said in a text message to The Associated Press. "He has shown strong leadership qualities and is a very good communicator. This is a great opportunity for him."

Williams replaces Jack Siedlecki, who retired in November after 12 seasons to become an assistant athletic director at Yale. Siedlecki was 70-47 at the school, including 47-37 in the Ivy League. He led the Bulldogs to a share of the conference title in 1999 and 2006, but was just 4-8 against rival Harvard and had lost seven of the past eight games against the Crimson.

Yale went 6-4 this season, including 4-3 in the conference and a 10-0 loss to Harvard in the 125th edition of "The Game."

Siedlecki became coach after Hall of Famer Carm Cozza retired in 1996 after 32 seasons.

We will see. The guy is as smart as the come. I think he has a shot, yet not anytime soon. He was greatly influenced by Bill Walsh while at Stanford as a players and a grad asst. He also is young and is the type of guy people rally around. We went to a SPC private school that was in the same conference as St. Johns, Kincaid, Austin St. Stephens and the other privates in Dallas, FW, San Antonio and Oklahoma..Cassiday and Holland Hall. Yet he and a few other guys brought a big time feel to our team when we played. We were tight as a team and the group of maybe 7 of us were best friends. We beat 3-A bigger schools and were 27-3 in 4 years..undefeated our senior year. I bring all this up because the guy was a Captain, played running back and linebacker and was Dallas Morning News top player despite our school size. So he has that ability to teach, be intense and for others to look up to him. He can change programs in my book. I could see him as a Big time college program head coach first because I think recruiting and the ability of student athletes to look up to him will be his strengths. I will say, and I just talked to him 2 weeks ago, he loved his time with the Jags, loved that he could be home with family because there was no off season recruiting and seemed to connect with players. So the pros could happen after some experience.

Sorry to babble but he is off the charts capable of doing whatever and he has the mentality of a guy people would look up to. I think he will command respect whatever path he takes. But to answer your question....YES, but it may be some years. I can actually see a progression where he is HC in college, top coordinator in NFL, then a head coach candidate in Pros.........depends which one he chooses...college or pros. I'd like to see him stay in the college ranks because I think they will love him.
