It took Bud Adams 35 years to lose his fan base in Houston, McNair did in 4.

Mario Williams is taking Sam Bowie over Jordan (leave Hakeem out it). The franchise has just lost their fan base. I dont blame Charley because he wanted Bush, but he will be the scapegoat.

that "When" can be a looooooooong time to come:confused:

Here's what I don't understand.

We signed Moulds, Weaver, Cowart, Putzier, and Flanagan this offseason. After all of that we were all full of optimism. Was that because we were all relying on Reggie Bush being a Texan? No. It's because we had an awesome offseason. The offseason gave us a sense that the Texans were finally doing something positive. Signing Williams doesn't ruin the offseason. It probably helps it. All you bandwagon Texan fans were happy after our offseason. Now that we sign Williams you're disappointed? Somebody clue me in on you guys.

McNair may be losing his fan base, but surely not because he made this decision in the draft. Remember, when given a choice between paying Edgerrin James or Dwight Feeney, the Colts took Feeney. Good DL are much harder to fine than RBs -- especially when you need four DL and only one good back.

Mario Williams wasnt even the Best DE on his team last year. Lawson was. You dont pass on Bush, IMMEDIATELY makes your Offense (ranked 31 last season) MUCH beter.

If you have field level tickets on the Texans side of the stadium between the 30s, and are wanting to unload your PSLs for cheap, please PM me.

Thank you.

McNair certainly seems to be trying to set some kind of record.

The Texans are getting good at bringing a feeling of disgust out of me. That's not a good sign.

I don't consider myself a bandwagoner. As a matter of fact I thought the Texans would consider Williams for a long time. In a sense I am severely dissappointed. In 2002 we took Carr over Peppers and many would say this is redemption, but it's not because just like in 2002 we are now passing up on a better talent. What excuse will we have when Bush scores touchdowns what would we say when Bush burns Williams and scores on us. I don't mind rooting for an underdog, but to put ourselves in that position is unbearable. This really turns me off on this season because I was personally looking forward to seeing Bush in a Texan uniform.

And what happens if we don't win?

Well would Bush have made that big of a difference? Bush is one player. So is Williams. It takes the whole team. Bush wasn't going to win 5 more games for us. Neither is Williams.

Lets see....They allow (2 and 14)Casserly to hang around until after the draft..to give us the finger one last time.

No Bush ...no Young...Mario who? How exciting!

Resign David YugoCarr for a 3 year..not 2 year extension?

Who the Hell is running this operation?

McNair better stick to Horses.

Why leave Hakeem out of it? He was selected before Jordan and did OK. Maybe Williams is Hakeem.

I've always wanted us to draft a defensive monster like other teams have been doing the past few seasons, (Dallas, KC,). But I think the price was a little to high. At least we know DD is staying.

Yeah, maybe so. I'd trade Hakeems two rings for Jordans 6 any day. Particularly since Hakeem might not have even had the two if Mike hadn't decided to try and break into MLB.

If you look at our personnel, he is the best fit. I think Reggie is rapidly loosing value. We will see though....

How is he the best fit. We have a prototypical LE in Weaver so one of them would have to move to RE Williams has said he is more comfortable on the left side. Now we have two RE's in Peek and Babin and two LE's in Weaver and Williams. Only two RB's to carry the load in an injury prone Davis and that other guy? How can you even try to justify Williams over Bush.

What's up with this team? After suffering though that pitifull excuse for a season last year the only glimmer of hope left was the we would be in position to pick Reggie Bush. Now yall are telling me that we're not even going to take the hands down best player in the draft. A player that everybody agrees is a once in a generation prospect. I thought it would be an easy decision, and there was no way they could skrew this up, but obviously they found a way to do it. I've tried to hold out hope and warm up to this franchise, but it's obvious they have no clue as to what the hell they are doing. From ownership to front office. Bad decsion after bad descion ( Boseli, Hollings, Sharper, Glenn,) This is why this franchise is so sorry and last in every catagory. That's it! I'm through with them. I'm now a COWBOY FAN FOR LIFE!!! At least they have the balls to make moves, know how to build a team and know how to win.

GO COWBOYS!!!!! GO COWBOYS!!!!!!

Call me a bandwagoner if you want, but I'll be enjoying the playoffs and a shot at the Superbowl next year while yall Texan fans are crying about who's bright idea it was to pass on Bush and who to pick w/ the #1 pick again. I just hope they don't skrew it up next year or else Mr. McNair will really lose his entire fan base in record time! IDIOTS!!!!!

Actually yes, I expected Bush to be added to those players and this offense to be EXPLOSIVE. Even if Bush only touches the ball 16 times, he still demands attention when he doesn't get the ball.

BTW, I think the title of this thread is idiotic. I'll be at Reliant on August 12 ready to watch the rookies.

Wow, its sad to watch so many fans cry over one pick. Where are all the people who said Bush was to small to play in the NFL? People who wanted Young should have gotten over the fact that the Texans weren't going to draft him weeks ago. If you are going to quit on this team after one pick, then go. There are 31 other teams to cheer for.

And if there are more than one of you that meets the above criteria - PM me next.

Also, Thank You.

Williams is not worth a #1. Bush is a #1 RB. Young is a #1 QB. It was a stupid move to take him #1, we could have atleast traded down, got another #2 and whoever's #1, and still got Williams. We didn't have to waste a pick, and whole lot of money on him.

I'm not quitting on the Texans, I'm just very disapointed.

how many times have the colts made the superbowl with edgerrin james..none...a former top five rb pick that was good..made your offense great but didnt win any playoff games for u..defense wins games...now hes in arizona...greedy rbs...ill bet the colts make the superbowl next year now that hes gone..besides rb have the shortest career out of any position..i dont blame mcnair for not wanting to invest all that money in a guy who u might only get 6 yearsout of...already reserved my williams jersey......:redtowel:

Williams = less than 1 sack per game
(college stats)
Bush = 6+ points per game

Yes, I'm rather P.O.ed right now. Sure, defense wins championships. Last time I looked, it was more about elite linebackers than elite linemen.

u forgot reggie white....lawrence taylor...those guys brought titles to their teams...name their starting lb's...

what will YOU say if Williams stuffs Reggie for a loss in 4th quarter sealing a victory

Well guys, I think this move makes good sense. I know it is not a sexy or glamorous pick, but I would love to have seen Peyton Mannings face when he heard the news. I know Reggie Bush is talented but DD gained 1,300 yards last year. How many weapons can your put on the field at one time? We have two pro-bowl receivers now, a really good tight end, etc. But we do not have a really dominating Defensive player like a Dwight Freeney. This move is one I was hoping the Texas would make. I think you all should sit back and analyze this a little bit more. You may come to actually like the idea.

whats the over under on the length of productivity for bush..i say six years tops...williams will be solid for 10 plus years.....a better "investment" for you guys that think the pick was only about money..because it was..and im glad they did what they did...

I have a slightly different point of view. I like the Williams pick because we work towards dominating the defensive side of the line.

Then, in the 2nd round, pick Eric Winston at OT. And we move on improving our work on the offensive LOS. Winning games begins by winning the line of scrimmage.

In closing, I cannot say I am surprised at the pick. I am surprised at the price, though.

Rick

People who dog on McNair get put on my ignore list. All im gonna say before I start ignoring is that you are spoiled punks, ignorant of the situation, and pointing fingers cause its easier than looking at the big picture.

The point is that there are many exceptional players. This isn't a Bowie/Jordan thing, unless of course you think Olajuwan and Bowie are equivalent.

Bush isn't Jordan yet anyway - he might be, but what if he's Bowie??????? Wouldn't that be a kick in the head! And no, I don't think he is Bowie.

This part of it I'll at least fight against. Just because Lawsome made plays doesn't mean he was the best. It may help that Mario was double teamed. It also isn't a given that the MVP of a team is the best player. Detmer won the Heisman. So did many other guys. Casey Hampton was a Top 4 Lombardi finalist and is a 2nd-3rd rounder. They talked about this tonight. It is a crap shoot.

While everyone's crying a river, do me a favor and build a bridge for me. None of my pants flood, and I'm not really interested in getting them wet.

I'm a little sick to my stomach right now so I'm not going to go as far to say that I'm done with the Texans but I'm still in shock as to how they choose to run this team. I'm so angry right now that I can hardly type this message. I've been a season ticket holder for 4 years and have made every excuse and defended this team for countless dumb decisions and poor organization. I am now resigned to the fact this team seriously does not know what they are doing and that the are destined to be be another mediocre Houston franchise. Those of you applauding the decision for Williams must be an employee of the team or a family member of Casserly or McNair because no one in their right mind would pass up on a freak, once-in-a-lifetime talent like Bush. If you were to pick Williams, why not trade down...or at least wait until the actual DAY OF THE DRAFT to notify the NFL that you are making the craziest pick of the decade? Use it as leverage to move down and get extra picks out of it. This absolutely makes no sense. Words cannot describe how upset I am right now. I watched Casserly on ESPN making his usual asinine explanations for his dumb decisions and I seriously wanted to take a hammer to my TV. The Texans will be the laughing stock of the league for decades. We picked Sam Bowie over Jordan!
