Iso - Seth Wand (give comments)

I think the most telling aspect of Wand's performance was that no one noticed him, and when you're a LT that is what you're going for. If he were missing blocks, or not blocking effectively we all would've spotted him pretty quickly. I made it a special attempt to try and watch him as closely as I could, and I really thought he did a pretty good job. He and Pitts look like they'll battle Weigert, Wade for being the strongest side of the line. I really didn't see him make any major mistakes, and for someone who started as a project that's pretty good. Even the stud rookie LT for the Raiders Robert Gallery made at least one big mistake in his first preseason game. He got beat by his man, and was forced to try and catch and hold him before he got to Gannon or Collins. Can't recall which it was. If he keeps performing like he did saturday night, and if Pitts is as much a monster at LG as he was on Saturday, then our line will be set for the regular season and many more after it.

Wand did OK, as mentioned above, but a lot of us are waiting to see how well he plays against good DE's like Jason Taylor and others like him.

Wand played well and even took on linebackers on with 'second level' blocks in the running game. He did a good job and did what most OT's do in a ballgame when it comes to pass protection. You generally don't see OT's pancaking guys, they just wall them off and stunt the rushers penetrations on pass blocking. He had a solid game and I expected a couple of breakdowns. I'm sure he will have his moments of failure but he sure looks like a capable run blocker and has the length and the footspeed to be a solid pass blocking Tackle.

Wand did good. He was able to keep the ball heading forward with the rest of the line so thats all that matters. I think when he was in, there wasnt any sacks and only one run for a loss.

from watching the preason game against dallas and the schrimage against the fins i can already see a change in wand...during the schrimage he looked a little un-prepared for a pur-speed rush...this preseason game he looked ready to handle it...although ellis is more of a technique pass-rusher rather than a speed guy wand handled himself for me not to worry about him being our starter...this upcoming weekend should be a little more interesting seeing that we play the steeler's who run the same defense as us...i'm interested in seeing how he handles rushers like bell and porter

Didnt see it, so...
The Texans believe OLT Seth Wand is one of their five best offensive linemen, and we hear he has yet to shake the coaching staff’s faith in him. Wand, who replaced Chester Pitts as Houston’s left tackle, got an early test when he faced Dolphins DE Jason Taylor in the recent scrimmages between the teams. On a handful of occasions, Taylor proved a little too quick for Wand. At other times, the young left tackle didn’t get out of his stance fast enough, but a source close to the team reports Wand acquitted himself well overall. We’re told that if Wand were to falter, veteran Marcus Spears, not Pitts, would fill in at left tackle. Pitts currently starts at left guard, and the team is committed to his development at that position.
