Interview with the GM of the Titians on Sirius NFL Radio

LBC_Justin

Rookie
Anyone else hear it!!

wow.

Not sure if he is playing those complicated smoke screen mind games but I got the impression that the Titans want Leinart and they want him bad. He basically said that picking a Junior is like fishing, you have no clue what you are getting and the money as a bigger impact on them because of their maturity. (This is major paraphrasing since it was a long interview and it happened a few hours ago.)

Bottomline if the guy was speaking the truth...I would not be surprised if the Titans try to trade up to our pick and grap Matt Leinart. Or they may scare the Saints into trading up to grap Leinart.

He spoke nice about VY but if you read between the lines you can tell Leinart is the guy they want.

If you heard this interview feel free to jump in and add or correct me. Even the John Riggins(the Interviewer), thought it was enlightening and could see the Titans targeting a QB, mainly Leinart. I got the vibe that they may pass on VY. Who knows maybe that is what they want us to think (Insert evil UT homer laugh)

I didn't hear it, but I would be interested if there is a way to download the entire interview.

Obviously this GM is a UT hater, because everyone knows that Vince Young is not only the best QB in the draft, but the best player in the draft.

I'll believe it when I see it!There isn't a GM in his right mind going to tell you who his real target is.Its a rouge,he would never say that sitting at number 3 unless he has a stratagy.I think the stratogy is to get alumi off the board to reliese Chow from feeling obligated to draft draft USC!I think they know that if Young makes it out of the top 3 they can possibly get him at 6 or 7 and pick up a quality pick in round 2.If thats the case why would they even wait to get a deal done to lock into the top pick?

He was very subtle about it.

He didn't say..."We want Leinart"
but you could feel it.

I bet he was! Now, how much are you guys cutting him in on the royalitys from Leinart getting the top spot!!::yahoo:

Its getting ready to get wild in the top ten this year....

this what some people would call a smoke screen but i if it is true i dont blame him i think we should draft lion heart also if not young we need a good field general. to bad we aint going to be able to capatalise on having the number one selection thanks to dumb ownership. of letting the word get out that they are locked on bush.

I just stuck my neck out on the other thread on VY, I think you're correct.

Anything that fans the flames and get a brush fire started for the one I'm all for. End up with Brick or Mario and a boat load of picks.

Or they could be thinking about staying where they're at and draft the backyard senior QB from Vanderbilt. You know, the one Jeff Fisher coached in the Senior Bowlidonno:

Me doubts Houston is willing to help Tennesse get better before them, and me doubts Tennessee is willing to give Houston so many draft picks they could use to fill holes that they won't be filling in free agency just so they can trade up.

I mean we are talking about a 4-12 team that is still $10 million over the cap, who's starting QB is unwilling to take paycut.

When I read between the lines, I get the feeling New Orleans has nothing to worry about. And IMO, I do not believe the Titans or Jets will trade up, and I believe that their in a good position where they're at cause one of the top 3 rated QBs will fall to them.

Hilarious..No but seriously, I bet they do want Young. The Saints have the pick right before them. The Titans hope the Saints take Lienert. Therefore, they will comment as little as possible on VY and talk Lienert up as much as possible, hoping the Saints bite. I mean after all, isn't Steve McNair VY's mentor or daddy or something.

But hey, we can at least entertain the thought that maybe, just maybe the Titans do like Lienert as much as they say. Remember, Norm Chow is their offensive coordinator. Damn, that'd be sweet if we traded down to number 3, picked up some extra picks, and still got Bush or Young.

Thu would make that Big B Texan Fan guy look loke a genius now wouldn't it!!!

There is only one sure way to guarantee that you get your man if you are not picking #1. - TRADE UP. It will just be to tempting for some GM/COACH out there to sit on their hands and hope their guy falls. Someone will pull the trigger. It's just human nature. Last two drafts have been kinda of quite so it is time for a flurry of trades and chaos in the first RD.

If we have the #3 pick and Young is still on the board, don't be surprised if the Texans take D'Brick or Super Mario and break the hearts of many UT fans.
