Tallying sacks isn't the best way to evaluate an offensive line. Quarterbacks cause many sacks by holding the ball too long. Teams that throw more give defenses more sack opportunities. Teams that get caught in lots of third-and-long situations expose their quarterbacks to more blitzes. And the schedule matters, as some passers face much better defenses than others.

The fangio's still have their jobs, and someone pointed out that we have the worse defense in the league, no turnovers, and a hand full of sacks. I smell something and it ain't fried chicken.

Football is no different than any other orgainzation; politics plays its role. It's just more public in pro sports; you'd hope that winning would be more important, but.......

Thanks Bckey, that's an excellent article. And that analytical tool used to
measure OL performance is one of the more technical methodologies
I've seen applied to football lately. Perhaps some of our Board's OL gurus may have some insight on its usefulness.
For a long time many people have been complaining about what they perceive as a too conservative philosophy for the offense. According to this,
its gonna be even more conservative in the future. Given that our 2 highest
Draft picks ever are a strong-armed QB and a stud WR, calls into question
again how our offensive philosphy could have gotten so out of synch with
the strength of the teams offensive personnel.

I've said it before, that I don't know if Cass has lost his eye for talent or if the players he draft just don't fit in with what Dom wants to do. How much say does Dom have when it comes to the draft? Is it 50/50 75/25 or 100/0 edge Cass?
