Interactive Mock 2.0 - Houston is OTC

DFlo

Practice Squad
Hey guys, we are running the Interactive Mock again due to popular demand. The fan forums of each NFL team get to vote for who their team should pick.

Last time Texans fans chose Robert Quinn and 18 people voted total.

You can cast your vote for who you want your team to pick this time around here:

Interactive Mock 2.0

And if you explain why with a brief short description, I will pick the best one and publish it along with the pick!

*For mods: This is not spam. I am just trying to get the right fans to vote for their respective team. We have done this already with most NFL team forums and have not had any issues. If you have any problems, please let me know.

Couldn't help but notice you had the Texans as a possibility to go OT.

That is a pretty unique view of the situation. What leads you to that conclusion?

Thanks guys! Keep voting!

Does anyone want to do a write-up for Watt and also I might need one for Bowers

Also, not sure why I put the tackles in. Usually it just so I don't get people complaining about so-and-so not being an option. I guess I thought the Texans were having problems with Duane Brown and might want a replacement. Is that the case Texans fans?

If any line spot needs improving it would be on the interior at G.

Brown isn't going to make any probowls but he is serviceable.

When you have the HUGE needs on defense that we have any offensive player is a luxury pick.

I think the consensus on the boards is that only Green or Jones would be considered on that side of the board at 11.

This wasn't an option but I would pick Justin Houston, OLB from Georgia. He played for a team that ran a 3-4 defense so he already has exposure to it and, he also had a solid campaign last season and put up some solid numbers.

As for Da'Quan Bowers being undrafted thus far, I can't say I'm suprised. He is a one-year wonder and hasn't been consistent. Looks like a tweener' with no true position as he isn't fast enough to be a speed rusher but isn't powerful enough to bull-rush linemen.

JMO...

The fact that Bowers is available is unrealistic, but that is who I voted for.

I agree with that .... somewhat and he was my choice in the poll as well because he's the best avaliable remaining talent.

If thats how it fell , I'd really be looking hard to trade down because I dont see DE as a value for the Texans at that spot. NT , OLB , S and CB are much more pressing needs but none of the players available present value for the pick.

I think Houston could be had in round two .... I also think Ayres is the better player.

Watt could probably be had in the area of pick #17.

Ah sorry guys, missed out on Houston and it's too late now, although I'm not sure if he would have been a real threat.

Going to let it run overnight and tabulate the results in the morning. Would anyone like to do a short 3-sentence write-up on JJ Watt?

He's a productive DE who is most likely going to end up playing for a team that runs a 3-4. Had some amazing numbers last season and reminds me of Richard Seymour.

I wouldn't be opposed to Watt as our selection, its just that we have many other glaring needs that need to be addressed. Whoever drafts Watt is going to get a solid pro for several years.

Awesome! I'm a big fan of Watt, but do agree with you T4E. All else equal I think OLB would be the best selection for us but we missed out on the top guys. I think Watt has a better chance of becoming a cornerstone on our defense, a Richard Seymore type than for the next group of OLBs to become the next Clay Matthews.

I know we all want starters with our picks, particularly the 11th overall, and It's unlikely that Watt would be termed the Starter on day 1. I do think he would see a lot of snaps and he would give Wade a lot of room to be creative and use our best players. I don't think Watt would have any less impact on this team next year than the other players that were available.

If Watt ends up being the pick at #11, I could envision Wade moving Smith to the NT position due to his succes at DT in the 4-3 & his quickness.

I'm willing to bet Newton goes somewhere before us which would mean some other player would be available defensively (potentially anyway). The way the draft falls like that is probably the least beneficial and we might be able to trade down with somebody with Newton still being available.

J.J. Watt is a decent safe pick that fans would like. Doesn't really excite me much though :/
