That's bad news about Wells, at least it's just a sprain for Wiegert and nothing is broken.
High ankle sprains are bad, and can linger the whole season...he will probably miss the rest of the preseason. JMO

Actually its the same kind of injury suffered by Wade last year and he was never the same the rest of the season. High ankle sprains, if that's what it is, are very bad news. It might be worse than that and require surgery.....

I actually would hope that its not as bad as that, but that's what others in the know are saying. I was simply passing on what I'm reading and hearing on this issue.

Wiegert would probaly be better off if he had broken the ankle, very bad sprains usually take longer to heal then broken ankles; espically teh dreaded and feared high ankle sprain. This is by far teh worst thing that happen on Sat night.

Dom gave Riley the start and he drove the defender into the back of Weigert's leg. This is all Dom's fault. lol

Let's just hope there wasn't any serious ligament damage done.

I don't give thought to Ibar's posts anymore. No objective balance . . . always takes the gloom and doom Chicken Little viewpoint.

If you want negativity, eat this one. We will probably lose one or two more players next week to injury, probably another OL player. Then, the following week, there will be another couple players hurt . . one of which will buy now, be lost for the season. Then, in the final preseason game, we will probably lose one or two more of our 1st team starters to injury, as the team gets ready for Buffalo.

Injuries are part of the game. But the extent of the injuries will determine the W-L record this season, more than any other factor. But you never take that into account when you make your predictions

Now, how's that for negativity? :challenge

While you are being satirical, you might actually be right. The problem is we do not have any depth and any injury to a starter is a real negative for us. We generally have not been lucky in the injury department for what ever reason. Lets hope we really don't get any more.

Kris Krikes, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Dom Capers said backup QB B.J. Symons (shoulder) will be sidelined for an indefinite amount of time after suffering a sprained clavicle in his shoulder. I wouldnt mind Wells not being out for long either.

hopefully it is just minor surgery for Wells.
Aug 15 Wells, who severed a tendon in his right forefinger during Saturday's preseason loss to Denver, will see a hand surgeon on Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Recommendation: Once there is a prognosis for Wells, we'll report it.

Sounds like a good candidate for IR to me.

As I posted in another thread, I am of the opinion that we still need to find our eventual replacement for Banks. I know it was only the first preseason game but Symons and Ragone both looked atrocious to me.
This after having applauded the Ragone pick.

I hope Wiegert is back to normal after 2 or 3 weeks. There is no question we can ill afford his loss. Not only is a he one of our best linemen, I believe he's one of the team leaders. Having said that my concern is what others have pointed out about Wade when he had the same injury last year. He was never the same the rest of the season. I'm hoping the difference is we are in TC and they can completely rest him and let it heal without having to play him at all. Its harder to do that during the season. The high ankle sprain is not an easy one to heal and longer times are normally required. :)

And the hits just keep coming:

Texans | Mathis Being Checked Out
Sun, 14 Aug 2005 22:59:50 -0700

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans WR Jerome Mathis (groin) re-aggravated a groin injury during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 13. He'll be re-examined to see how much he can practice this week.

Texans | McKenzie Being Checked Out
Sun, 14 Aug 2005 22:54:17 -0700

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans CB Chris McKenzie (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury that's requiring an MRI to determine how badly he's injured.

Texans | Replacing Wiegert
Mon, 15 Aug 2005 05:58:06 -0700

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports OG Fred Weary or OG Milford Brown is expected to replace injured OG Zach Wiegert (ankle) in the team's starting lineup while Wiegert is sidelined.

In case you don't recoginze the contetn teh above is from kffl

Brown is a person we had some high hopes for who has never stepped up. Mr. Weary has been a bust by most accounts. May be this is an opportunity for Mr. Brown to show some potential. Don't be surprised is we make another offer to an unnamed lineman from Cleveland.
