In order to gain my trust, David Carr must....

Impose his will on opposing defenses. Make the opposiion fear him on every play. Control the game and make it his.

i dont care his numbers as long as he helps us win, throw a td every now and then and hand the ball off to DAVIS yes i said DAVIS !

I really like where the offense went when he was calling the plays vs the Cards.

-Show a winning leadership ability and make smart decisions, sometimes the risky ones too... whens its sensible.

But for the Anti- Carr Texans fans:
Make the All-time all-pro madden team.

Wins are wins, no matter what the stats are. At the end of the season, someone can lead the entire league in stats or whatever, but the TEAM could go 2-14. In the end, if the TEAM doesn't peform, then the TEAM doesn't win. Will Carr have good games all the time?...no. Will Carr have some good games?...yes. Either way, each side of the ball is going to have to step-up.

Kyle Orton won games?????? or did the Chicago defense???? why'd he get pulled for Grossman???

How about a minimum of at least being as good as Trent Dilfer, a QB who might not win the games himself, but he won't lose them for you, either. :ok:

Although, for the kind of jack we're paying DC, I'd hope he rises to the top ten QBs in stats and winning percentage next season.

I'm trying to find half-season numbers, but they seem to be tough to locate on the internet.... ;)

The 1st half of '04 was against poor D's, but he was putting up goofy numbers. After 5 games the Texans had the 2nd or 3rd O on yards in the AFC. Thru the 1st 8 games Carr had a QB rating of 95.1, 64 % completions, 270 ypg and was on pace for 4400 yds of passing. In the 1st 9 games of 2004 he never passed for less than 200 yds--in the 23 games since then he has had 5 games of over 200 yds.

unfortunately, for carr, he doesn't have the luxury of a defense like the bears that can create turnovers and give the offense extra possessions. carr will have to make plays for the texans to win. adding bush to the mix will certainly take some pressure off carr but, ultimately, as carr goes so go the texans.

For lack of a better option I picked the one about already supporting Carr. I have supported him all along and I think he is our man at QB and will continue to support him, however the second part of that statement about his "failures" this next season being entirely the fault of the rest of the team is not necessarily true, I'll hold Carr and anyone else accountable for their personal shortcomings and hold the team as a whole accountable for their win/loss shortcomings.

I would really like to see his stats improve because its not all on the quarterback whether we win or lose or not but his stats could show me something that I need to see in him to beleive he's good enough to lead our team. Also he does need to show more leadership. The players reactions will dictate that

then we're on the same page.

I don't care if he wins or loses..... I don't care if he puts up probowl numbers, or go 15 games without throwing a touchdown.

I just want the boy to stop screwing up. Stop making rookie mistakes. I want David Carr to show a little poise in the pocket. Not get himself sacked. Not run out of bounds with the ball behind the LOS(I'd normally let this slide once or twice, but David's done used up all his "run-out-of-bounds-behind-the-LOS" card. If I see him do it one time........... oooooooooooo, I swear). I want to see him beat a blitz, and make them think twice before they comit so completely, so early...... how many times have you seen anyone check out of a blitz?? I want to be put in a situation where I have nothing to complain about David Carr.

Has Andre droped balls?? yes, one or two..... but the good outweight the bad. Has Dunta been beat?? yeah, but I'd take him anyday over most other NFL corners...... Has DD been caught from behind before?? I'm not sure, but maybe (:sarcasm:).... but I know beyound a shadow of a doubt, he'll be a star in this league.

Yep, that about sums it up.

Allot of fans point to the first half of the Cards game as an example of DC's potential. While I have to admit DC did look good, it was only one game and it was the Cards (not the most notable defense in the NFL). I want to see DC make better decisions on the field. Some of DC's problems last year can be traced back to the former coaching staff, while other problems appear to be shell shock related from all the sacks he has endured. In order for this franchise to start to move forward, our QB and O-Line will have to improve their play together. I believe they will have to start with the basics and small accomplishment to build up confidence in each other.

More like the first 1/3 although his #'s sustained thru the half-way mark.
Hasn't been the same since.
Right around the time he and his Daddy cut their locks. Hmmmmm.

I say grow it back, get a few tatt's, get those mudflaps with the chrome chix on them, start smokin' (regular cigs), spraypaint "David Luvs Melody" on the back of his local H.E.B., start jammin' to some old school MetallicA:headbang: , etc.....

Ben Rothlesberger does not put up outstanding numbers, but his team wins. People will not shutup about Carr's performance until he performs by winning big games and the Texan's are on their way to the playoffs.

DC and Vince must have a duel to the death. I am thinking katanas, but I am open to six-shooters. Since that would probably be too violent, I am thinking maybe some paintball or a game of Madden to decide who is the quarterback of our future.

The six shooter duel wouldn't be violent at all. It would go something like this:

Carr and Vince take their ten paces and turn around to face each other. Vince gets off the first shot but doesn't allow for Carr's tendency to scramble right early. He misses. Carr hasn't fired yet and continues running to the right. Vince reads Carr's route and aims carefully. Just as Vince is about to fire Carr runs himself into the side of a barn and falls to the ground. Almost simultaneously Vince fires his second shot missing Carr because of his fall. Young is unnerved as Carr lies unconscious. Vince doesn't miss, let alone twice. Vince throws down his six shooter and makes his way out of the state. Carr wins by default.

i guess for me to respect david as a real NFL QB he would have to stop taking sack wich are completely avoidable like 1.running out of bounds for negative yards. 2.throw a damn hail mary when the game is in reach not take a sack for the sake or QB rating 3.Not lock on to one target.4.win some games 5.show some leadership on the sideline on the field.

i dont ask for much just typical things that are expected from a qb.

Thank You. I appreciate your humor.

Leadership is key. If he would step it up a notch that would be cool. He could be like Keanu Reaves character in the Replacements - he almost seems like that character w/ his laid back demeanor.

If only Carr could slip pass rushers as Keanu dodges bullets in The Matrix...

I know, I know. Vince can.

True. Hopefully he can get over being sacked as many times as he has and do that.

The only way I could accept a fourth round quality performance from Carr is if he starts to take fourth round quality money. Since that ain't the case, it's not good enough for him to just slide on by, even if we did have a lock down D like Chi. And if you would support him as long as he's winning, regardless of performance, then you'd have to admit that the Texans would have to replace him at some point, u can't win like that forever...

yep sure does. His Superbowl passer rating - a masterley 22. something!!

There was also one game last season when the Steelers were leading at the end of the third/start of the forth they ran the ball 20 straight times!!!

At least he makes plays. I don't see him fumbling the ball or curling up in the fetal position in the pocket on a regular basis....I don't see big Ben throwing the ball in the stands on an extra point attempt instead of putting the ball up for grabs, looking for wr's downfield when the pocket breaks down, and he also makes tackles when he throws a pick. I'll never forget Carr chunking a pick and instead of chasing the player to make a tackle he starts to yell at everyone and throws a tantrum instead. Pittsburgh doesn't win without his huge play to Hines Ward on a busted play.

Hey, it's not like we're paying the guy $5.25 million plus $8 million dollars to play...... the way some of you guys R acting, you'd think we took him with the #1 overall, or something.....

I don't know why you guys expect David to act like an NFL Starting QB... sheesh.

(Poll coming)

Why would I want Dave Carr, when I could have Vince?

"So, what do I know about Vince Young?

I know:

He is taller than Dan Marino.
He is bigger than Terry Bradshaw.
He is faster than Brett Favre.
He has a stronger arm than Joe Montana.
He has a prettier release than Bernie Kosar (OK, that's debatable).
But more than that, he has poise under pressure, and that's the most important thing of all."
