With this draft and capers and co gone. I know the confidence here has taken a hit the past year. But, seriously do you think we could lose out on the draft this year?!

I just really don't think with the coaching change to a guy like Kubiak, who did a hell of a job in Denver, pass over here. Not to mention Denver seeming to always pick up playmakers and difference makers in the draft. The speculation is fun at this point and it passes the time. But I don't think we can lose in this draft.

Only time will tell. There are tons of thing that can happen like injuries and personality clashes. I admit it, I thought Ryan Leaf would be a better quarterback then Peyton Manning. Boy was I wrong. I thought Curtis Enis was the bomb and that Chicago was lucky to get him with the 5th overall pick. Enis lasted three terrible years. Does anyone remember Steve Entman (sp?) out of Washington? I don't think he lasted through his rookie season before blowing his knee out. Tony Mandrich is a greens keeper now at a small country club.

It reminds me alot of the old game shows where the contestant got to choose between door no. 1, no. 2 or no. 3. Everybody knew that one of the doors had a new car, one door had a dream vacation, and one door had 300 cans of tuna fish. But, which one!

there is always question and dissent....i would be one of the small voices whispering that reggie bush is going to bust out of the nfl in 3 years or less.....Matt leinart walks around in a brace, and vince young is raw....anyone of the presumed top 3 could bottom out...d'brick is questionable to some....talent laden, yes, but i would say this is one of the riskiest drafts in a while.

Unfortunately, we can lose big time in this draft/FA window IMO. While I understand and agree with some of your point..."how can we go wrong if we are drafting so high in a talent rich draft?"...here is my answer..."by not getting the most value from our draft position". This team has a bunch of holes on both sides of the ball to deal with before we are really a good football team and this could be year we do it "if" we play our cards right. :redtowel:

I think that any of us here could replace Casserly and still have a decent draft without any trades, just selecting using the picks the Texans already have. I would not use the #1 pick on a RB. period. Take a QB with the first overall- Vince Young I believe he can be developed with his potential to be a true franchise QB meanwhile we have a experienced QB in David Carr to run the show for a year while he makes that adjustment. Then assuming David improves with Kubiac & the offensive line solidifies he is going to be worth a #1 pick in a trade or elite vet in exchange at a need position.

But what I expect from the pros is a serious attempt to trade down and improve the future needs via more picks as it relates to the salrary cap and other long term concerns. Thats what Casserly is good at, now its time for him to earn his salrary, as of now your right the jury is out
