True, half the battle is finding someone who actually wants to trade up! Hopefully someone picking afew spots after us will scare someone into thinking they'll take someone someone after them wants. IE 2005 when Carolina (picking 14th) tricked New Orleans (originally picking 16th) into trading up with us (picking 13th) because they made NO think they'd pick the player they wanted.

Whatever the Texans do, after fumbling the 2006 draft, they better hit it out of the park. Maybe the new GM won't let Kubiak make stupid rookie head coach mistakes ala Charley Casserly.

1) Mario has looked fine considering he's playing injured, tons of potential
2) Ryans is probably the DROY, maybe pro bowl
3) Spencer is our future LT and is a badass
3) Winston has looked good, should be a starter for a while
4) Daniels is the most productive rookie TE
6) Lundy is keeping up with the rest of the rookie RBs
7) Anderson is still learning, not bad considering how many 7th round picks do nothing
So howd we fumble the entire 2006 draft? And please dont use the "we screwed up the 1st pick and thats most important" ideology becuase this could be one of the best draft classes we've EVER had and your calling out everyone we drafted . . .

A quick case-study of our past draft with Kubiak or any past draft in Denver will tell you that RB top 10 is a no go. Hughes is looking at a second round grade right now, and Hall is sliding a bit with all the Juniors being physical guys.

I say we take a DB. We would win more games if our DBs didn't get burnt every game.

Detroit has the 1st pick "If the draft were to happen today" they would draft Brady Quinn, so would Oakland if they have the #1 pick. picking #2 & Quinn off the board Oakland should trade down or take Calvin Johnson. Tampa would pick 3rd don't need Peterson, would consider Gaines Adams. Arizona is picking 4th, with Joe Thomas still on board he would be their pick. That leaves the Texans picking 5th selecting RB Adrian Peterson . Kubiak takes a RB this high because both McNair & Kubes promised to MAKE Carr a winner & Peterson is the best weapon available or means to an end resolving this matter.

NO, based on history of Kubiak/Denver/Gibbs. They don't draft RBs in RD 1 and the oline philosophy is draft 3 RD and later. Go with other skilled or specialist in RD 1.

That logic has nothing to do with VY and a lot to do with Reggie. Of course how quickly we forget that DD was active and there wasn't 3 oline on IR. But as a beerlover you know how beer can cause memory loss.

no amount of beer has yet been found to wipe the memory of who & what the Texans passed on with the 2006 #1 pick, but I'll keep trying

i think you take peterson. carr wont be back next yr...thats just the feeling i have. draft kevin kolb in the 3rd round and maybe sign plummer. if plummer sucks, let kolb have a chance. i see something in kolb that i think will make him a good NFL qb. the rest of the picks need to focus on the secondary and a BEAST defensive tackle.
I like Kolb also, but high yardage does not necessarily transfer into the NFL. Such as some BYU QBs and Texas Tech guys.

I'm not quite that radical. Just want decent Spencer insurance. If the guy beats Spencer out for OLT, I think the tallent level will be such that they'd have a credible chance at being a top ten offense. Saw Brady and the Dallas phenom look pretty ordinary yesterday. It's a wonder what an extra half second or two will do for a mediocre QB. I'm with you beerlover on Carr. But whoever the QB is in the future...you gotta have a base. Three third round guys a fifth round center and a grey beard...judging by this season...isn't enough. No matter who the QB is they have to upgrade the tallent in the o-line. I agree DC is toast.

No, I dont expect an All pro line back ups, but a solid line with 2 decent back ups would be nice.
Heck any O-lineman who wont get a false start AT HOME would be nice.

You Draft Daymeon Jackson the #1 DB propect with your pick unless we land a top tier CB in Free Agency. Im sorry but the Buchanon project didnt work and Faggins is a nickel back at best. We need another big play corner that can play with the likes of Jacksonville's receiving core, Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison, and keep our LB in to spy VY next year.
We wont go any higher than Round 2 for a RB. best way to help DC now is to put a defense on the field that will get us the ball back without the other team putting points on the board.

The 2006 Draft for the Houston Texans was the best in the history of the organization, and it very well may have been one of the top 5 best drafts for any team in 2006.
Saying that we fumbled the draft is ignorant.... you obviously meant to say "fumbling the first pick". Even that is highly controversial.
Unfortunately we will have to dig deep for some talented O-lineman once again in this next draft, and some Secondary help.
. We have so many holes that I don't think one draft will solve all of our problems.

If DD can be healthy next year then take a RB(Bush) later in the draft or sign one(Duckett) in the off season and get Landry, sign Samuel/Clements, get a d-line and o-line and an OLB, K and P along with Kolb and Plummer and we will be fine.

As long as Arizona stays ahead of us we have absolutely no hope for drafting Thomas. I haven't seen Lynch play much but I have hard time imagining any one better then AD at collegian level. Only person who is at the same level is McFadden from Arkansas but he is true Sophomore and will be Junior next year.
Houston needs a running back who can carry the load 40 times a game (like Earl during LUV YA BLUE Days) and I just don't think Lynch can be that guy but I may be wrong.

lynch has better speed and gets to the cutback lanes faster, they both have been banged up this year and cant carry the load by themselves.
