I know this has been mentioned but

I just heard Cris Carter say he would trade Carr to the Saints for 2nd pick and get Young and Bush.

Now. Lets be clear here. My question is 'Do you think the Saints would trade straight up for Carr? Or would it need to include additional picks/people?'

Even if this were even thought to happen, no way would they do it straight up. I would think they would need Carr, and at least a third and a fourth, if not both our thirds. Or it might work with a second round pick next year. Lastly, it might also work with a trade of additional players. Gaffney? (if he was picked up), someone else. Who would you trade to the saints to complete this deal?

Now, for those who will say. 'I would Never get rid of Carr!' Fine. I am asking what you legimately think would be legit for a trade IF they would even consider this one.

Cap wise we would have to eat part of Carr's contract, pay the #1 and #2 overall draft picks in this year's draft and keep overpaying guys like Wade and McKinney because it would be too costly to cut them. Seems like it would be impossible to do cap wise.

seems like it work well for the Saints salary wise & maybe a neccessary move given their revenue base or something similar to a team who wants to trade up.

as far as the Texans probably not due to reasons you mentioned.

Carr's Cap Hit would be the full 8 million in bonus money he got recently along with his extension ... It would ALL go on This seasons cap number where as if he were on the pay-roll it would be pro-rated over the length of the deal .... That would probably mean McKinney and a few others would remain on the roster THIS season ....Next season would be a clean slate cap wise . Still the 8 million due to Carr's bonus and paying the top two players in the draft would be a tough pill to swallow .

And I seriously doubt the Aints would pull the trigger on this type of deal .... Carr is semi damaged goods , Menatlly more than physically .... No matter how bad they need a QB . Especially since they could sit at #2 and get Leinart.

You completely missed the point, not downgrading Carr or Leinart, with the Texans paying the majority of his salary plus the cap hit & not having to pay Leinart #2 overall money would be incentive enough for a cash strapped team like the Saints. meaning their return would be in dollars saved :money:

The Aints wouls still be on the hook for his yearly salary ... 5.25 next season I believe and just over 17 million total over the three years . The only thing they would not be on the hook for is the 8 mill bonus ..... But yes I do see they get a good QB (debatable) and not have to pay the #2 money for him which would likely be around $8-9Mill per + a signing bonus.....

If Carr is good enough to fetch the #2 pick, why would the Texans want to trade him?

If the Saints are in a position to take a player they think is better than Carr (not that big a stretch of the imagination), why would they want to trade for Carr?

Huge you haven't been following along with the program here. While Carr sucks and needs to be gotten rid of at all cost, he is at least as good as Leinart that's why there is no debate here between whether to take Young vs. Leinart.

Beat me to the punch. Strange question, isn't it? If Carr sucks that bad, wouldn't the Saints just laugh at our offer and pick up Leinart with the #2? We sure as hell aren't taking Leinart.

We didn'tthink the Saints would sell the Farm for Rickey "The sticky icky" Williams but they did.

The Saints as they stand today (current FO) didn't sell the farm for Ricky, Ditka did and last I checked he doesn't coach for them anymore.

While I don't think I need to see it, others may benefit from the use of the :sarcasm: thingy.

Unless of course I'm off base. :)

Generally, I kind of think figuring those things out is like Darwinism for the MB.

For me, the :sarcasm: thingy is sometimes like the subtext in a movie. Guess that Darwin guy's just way over my head.
