I hate saying this because Bush supporters will howl

I dont know if this was reported.

I was watching the Rose Bowl interviews of Matt and Reggie. One of the interviewers stated "The Houston Texans have the first pick in the draft, would you play for them if you were first pick". Reggie answered "Sure I would, I have no problem with playing for them. They have David Carr who is a really good Quarterback and they have Andre... Andre Johnson too."

All though I am against drafting him because we have other major concerns, he is a option.

I'm surprised he knew anyone at all with the way we've played this year. No big deal.
You think he hasnt done his homework on a team that was on a collision course with the No. 1 pick all season? From what Ive learned over the past month or so, this kid is way to smart for that.

im not quite sure i understand the point here.

Was that quote a bad thing or a good thing? if its a bad thing.. im not seeing it.

Once we have our new coach, hopefully the threads will become more of HOW Bush will fit into that coaches system.

We can argue all we want but Reggie Bush is going to be a Texan. The question is can he become one of the greats!!?

Jaworski on ESPN said that his sources say that if New Orleans, picks Lienart, that he will try to pull an Eli Manning. That suprised me, he never seemed to be that type before.

How can anyone NOT want Bush. He is a dynamic and can get even better with maturity. If we talk "what if he gets injured" all day, but that goes with anyone. The sheer possibility of DC, AJ, RB and others is enough to make me buy season tickets and I live in Kansas. Man, I can't wait to see the outcome of this offseason. Heads are gonna roll in the AFC South in 2006.

I think NO is going to take a chance on Adrian McPherson before they get a new QB. McPherson is supposed to be a better version than Vick, from what I've heard. Plus...I have always felt that NO was worse off than we were.

:homer: The Saints owner is the new jackass of the NFL . How can you talk about moving your team because you don't have a stadium right after the whole city gets leveled . He's also a cheapskate who's in for the money . I would not want to play for him either .

He's said that he's going to keep the team in NO. Someone had to have threatened him or his family, because he was so dead-set on leaving to LA. Don't be suprised to see him move the team shortly after Pete Carrols contract is over at USC.

Great, so the Titans might get Lienart and be reunited with Norm Chow.

Depends if McNair retires or not...and also depends on whether or not TENN wants to see how Volek would work out in a permanent starting role. I still have this funny feeling that Leinart is going to be a Raider. I doubt he will, but I can't seem to shake it.

I can actually not blame him for doing it. That team is in turmoil and its not going to get better anytime soon. Eli was a little b**** and had no right to pull his stunt but the situation in NO is so horrendous(sp) that it is no way to start your pro career. Those are way different circumstances and its hard to blame the guy. :twocents:

Reggie, and Matt, will go 1-2.

Even if both the Texans and Saints dont pick there, these guys will be picked there.

$20 says the Texans take Bush to get the fans back. And the Saints take Matt, or trade out to someone who wants him at #2.

Neither Trojan will be picked at #3.

He was wanting to move before the hurricane. It just makes it difficult now that this has happened.

I would have to say I would agree with the saints owner if he wanted to move. From his sight, he has a NFL team for the money it generates, and nothing else. If I have a team in a city that just got leveled, where am I going to get paid from. It great to have feelings for people who are hurting, but if it cost me millions of dollars as well, I think I would be concerned too..

Whats that ANdre... Andre Johnson thing about? He forget his last name or something? Or was he pulling a Bond... James Bond type thing or stuttering because Andre is so damn good?

I thought I saw on espn.com or someplace he said Davis before Johnson - let me go look.

Many people feel Lienart did this in a more polite way last year by not coming out for the draft when he knew the 49ers would be the team that picked him. The off-season surgery was an issue, but obviously it was not serious enough to hurt his performance any during the year with the Trojans.

I bet Lienhart is kicking himself right now for not going to play for the Niners. I would guess he would like to play for Oakland or Tenn. I would not want to play for NO either, the city was a craphole before and now it is just a nasty toilet now. Move the team to another city and let's be done with it. Do you think anyone in NO really wants to go to that cesspit of degredation, the Superdome, again.

I saw this in an article from our very own Chronicle. It was a kind of weird article where Justice was trying to be funny though.

"I know David Carr is a great quarterback," he said, "and Andre — is it Johnson or Davis? — Andre Johnson is a great receiver. They're a good team."

Well, he's never been in a position like this before so we're seeing what I think is very understandable behavior from him. Who wants to go to New Orleans? Why would anyone want to play there....ever?

It's like the poster city for NFL frustration. Their history is one of epic misery and losing. They're the team that wasted Archie Manning whose legend grows with every touchdown pass his sons throw. Tom Benson is like some kind of genetic hybrid of Bud Adams, Art Modell, and W.C. Fields. He's universally considered the worst owner in the NFL and that takes some doing in a world where Dan Snyder owns a team.

Now they're also the team that plays in a New Orleans that will have a population of what? 100,000? 200,000? Maybe?

I saw recently on a local news broadcast (so take it with a grain of salt) that there are over 130,000 people from New Orleans in this Houston-Galveston area and that a great many of them plan on staying. I don't honestly know if this is true but if it's even close to being true then I'll be shocked if New Orleans ends up with a population that's even half of what it was.

Eli looked a little bit like a spoiled brat refusing to play in San Diego. Matt Leinhart doesn't come off nearly so badly IMO. I wouldn't want to go to New Orleans and in fact I wouldn't hesitate to force the issue. If it cost me a couple million dollars then IMO it would be money well spent.

Hehe.. yes.. he forgot his last name. Seemed to be reaching for it.

I'm with COACH on this one. WHo in their right mind wants to go to New Orleans? I mean that city is in CRAP shape to say the least. Horrendous would be putting it mildly.

If I'm Matty boy I demand that Tenn. trade up and take me so he can re-unite with norm chow. Sit the bench for two years while Mcnair finishes up and take over like McNair did many many moons ago.

:redtowel: If Matt L goes 2nd to Bush who'll be 1st ... the big question is salary . A QB going 2nd will get paid fairly close to a RB going 1st I think . Tom Benson does'nt want either to expensive .

I'd like to know who might be available to us in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I keep hearing about Justice from USC being available on the OL. I'm hoping for some help in the linebacking and in the secondary.

The Saints have had stadium issues for years, mainly because of a weak corporate infrastructure. Benson did not up and decide to move the team once Hurricane Katrina hit.

i kinda feel for the entire draft class right now......forget having to PLAY for new orleans, its a game, you can manage a sunday a week....i wouldnt want to be drafted and have to go LIVE there with my family right now....i mean, yeah, the saints probably want leinhart, but if i was him, and they called my name, i would be sitting out a year and taking a shot at the 2007 draft.

OK...let's say we do draft Bush (which I hope we don't). What would he have to do not to be considered a disappointment?

I was just in New Orleans and will be back there in a few weeks. Some of the areas are not nearly as bad as they are making it sound or look. The areas where Matt Leinart will probably be are relatively unscathed compared to some of the other areas. By the time he is drafted to New Orleans and moves there, it will not be too bad.

With all this hype? He'd have to live up to the expectations that have (unrealistically) been placed out there - once in 40-years type of talent. Don't they have a bust in Canton for him already?

Anyone who realizes that a single PLAYMAKER is not going to turn this team around. We're hurting at many positions and getting extra players and depth would be better than a single guy with a ridiculous salary.

Well said.:ok:

This team was HURT when casserly dumbbun traded back into the 1st round to get babin and traded away our 2nd and 3rd for pburnt.

WE ARE NOT GOING TO TURN THIS TEAM AROUND IN ONE YEAR!!!!

I'm not for Bush but I'll be darn if i believe he can't add some playmaking to this dreary offense.

TRADE BACK GO DEFENSE.....1ST PICK MARIO OR JIMMY!!!!!

2ND AND 3RD GIVE ME SOME LINEMAN!!!!

What if we aren't hurting in as many positions as you think. Would you still want to add depth rather than add the most explosive weapon in the draft?

It depends on what you expect from him? I would be happy with leading us to several play-off years. Earl Campbell thrilled me to death and he never made it to the Superbowl. Bush aside, I would like them to get our team to where it could win on any given Sunday. It has been a miserable year and a half to be a Texans fan. I can only Imagine having to go out and play for this team for that long. I think Carr and the rest will welcome Bush and our other picks once they are on the field. So, since you dont want Bush, you are probably going to be looking for Gale Sayers type numbers and HOF. I am going to be looking for Gale Sayers/Earl Campbell type leadership and entertainment, which will probably produce some decent numbers.

Oh yes and Tony Hollings....thanks for reminding me Coach.

I mean our first rounders have been solid we just keeping getting KILLED in the middle rounds.

What if Bush ends up being a huge bust? There's a million "what ifs" you can ask and I usually get a headache when I try to consider them all. I think whether or not we keep or trade the pick will ultimately come down to how much a team offers us. If some GM decides to pull a Ricky Williams type draft deal, then we'll probably go for it. If not, then we probably keep him.

I just think that we aren't as bad as our record and if we had all of these holes on our team then Casserly wouldn't have a job right now. Obviously Dan Reeves believes that we have enough talent to be a successful team and that they aren't being utilized properly or motivated enough. Since that is the case, we should take the best player in the draft and build depth and fill holes through the rest of the draft.

I was very excited to finally get to see this super fantastic, all world, best college RB in 20 years, tonight in the Rose Bowl.

It's now the beginning of the 4th and so far I ain't seen squat. That fatso Lindell White is doing all the ground work. idonno:

I haven't seen one thing to discourage me about Reggie. The guys burst is incredible. He just hasn't touched the ball alot. They have thrown the second half. That TD of his was nice. The USC offense is opened up by Texas keying the guy

trade the pick and draft rondel white r whatever his name is.. Man he just ran over the best defence in the ncaa..With some hard hits to. He is a jerk but he is a man..Trade down draft this guy he will be great rb for years:challenge
