Three weeks ago, the Texans embarked on the most difficult stretch of their 2006 schedule. It had them finishing five of six games away from home, including their first three. The trip began with a giant thud in Nashville and ended with a tenacious victory in Jacksonville that represented their first triumph on the road in nearly two years. It could also serve as the turning point in the team’s season and quite possibly, the franchise’s future. This Sunday, the Texans look to keep the momentum going when they welcome the Buffalo Bills to Reliant Stadium.

Fresh off a season sweep of the Jaguars, head coach Gary Kubiak and GM Rick Smith had little time to celebrate. Three players were lost for the season last Sunday including RT Zach Wiegert, CB Lewis Sanders and DT Travis Johnson. DE Antwan Peek will miss this week’s game with a sprained knee ligament and FB Jameel Cook (knee) and SS Glen Earl (dislocated finger) will be limited in practice but are expected to play. Toss in QB David Carr (shoulder) and DE Mario Williams (foot) as two more key players fighting through injuries, and it’s a wonder how the Texans could even hold a practice this week.
