With Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, Charles Spencer and Eric Winston, how do you think we did?

I would give us a B+. I wish we had chosen Simpson or Youbouty, but the way this draft is going, there will still be a pretty good guy up there tomorrow.

A

I dont know how else I could rate it. We addressed needs.. we got great value at every pick.. I dont see any reaches or real "projects".

Regardless of the Bush/Mario BS.

We could have not done any better IMO.

Four studs will be in camp is areas that were our weakest positions.

Based on who was available an A-. I would have liked a defensive back instead of OLB but I guess the available ones weren't graded that high.

I dont see any reaches or real "projects".

I think Mario was a reach at #1... Way too inconsistent in college to be worthy of that pick, IMO.

If we had picked him up in the 3-5 range I would have been exstatic.

Overall I say a C+ or a B-...

Demeco was just too good of a value at that spot.. and we really were lacking in true 4-3 LBs. By addressing needs in our front 7, we are also addressing weaknesses in our secondary.

I think for the exception of the last 2 in the 3rd round Casserly intentionally ruined the draft. I wish Mr. McNair could see thru it. Carr is never going to be able to get off a pass and as long as Davis and Johnson are covered the only other options are intereceptions. I am sad that Carr has invested his career here. Hope our new GM does better with next years #1 pick.

I've liked every pick, except Williams. I know he's solid, I'm just not convinced he's worth a #1 pick, especially with Bush on the board.

B (I voted B- since B isn't an option)

I rate it an A. We've complained for years how they would wait until the 5th round or later to address our o-line. This time we got two very good players for our line in the 3rd at a great value.

Addressed that terrible defense that gave up TWO 200 yard rushing games.

I too would have liked a DB but it seems like the way things are playing out there will be a very good safety at the top of the 4th for us.

I agree with you on this.. I admit watching that sunday night game against Seattle and we gave up so many points back to back.. I was embarrassed, I do hate losing but I hate more getting blown out on national TV

Passing up on Reggie Bush, maybe the greatest RB in college history, is not going to get you a high grade but from a Texan fan who is blind:wacko: .

Pretty much agree with you here. I would have liked to see Reggie and secondary instead of two OL, but no terrible picks and two great ones.

Do you remember Ron Dayne coming out of college? That guy was amazing in college. That guy is not so amazing in the NFL.

Ever hear of a guy named Moulds? Putzier ring a bell? How about the name Kubiak: the guy who is going to be calling real offensive plays? Denver sure sucked without Reggie Bush last year. Talk about seeing through things.

I rate it a B+, simply because I'm not excruciatingly fond of the Demeco pick.

I gave it a B+. I was hoping for Deuce in round 2 and a TE in 3, but the picks we made will help our team in the long run IMO.

So far i will give an B grade to the organization soley because I thought we should have picked up a Cb earlier. As long as they add some CB's and a little more depth to the O-line then they will grade out with an "A".

b- because mario was a really good pick for the texans struggling defense but the 2nd round i thought they should of picked justice, on account that the texans o line is terrible

I would give it an A, but had to give it a A-.......Most people that did not like the Mario over Bush pick will not give it more than a B, which is sad!

1st round - Mario - enough said - starter and stud!

2nd round, they got a 1st rd talent/value. He will be a starter!

3rd rd - OT and OG. Winston should start/compete to start early at RT (with Pitts at LT). Spencer will be a bit of a project (nothing negative, just some technique work, Wand was opposite - he hand solid technique, but was not very agile/athletic). I think these two will be the future RT side of the OL!

Offense and Defense much improved via Draft and Off-season. Could be the best off-season and draft in team history!!! And there is one more day in the draft!!! Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow. I just hope Cass does not give the picks away!!!

B-
I didn't like that we passed on 2 good CBs in Jimmy Williams in the 2nd and Youboty in the 3rd. I was very happy that we got Winston and have no idea how he fell to us in the 3rd. I thought we'd get him in the 2nd. I could have lived without an OLB but Ryans seems like a good one.

F i bet you guys will say im not a tru texan fan well idc theres no way in hell you pass up on the next barry sanders for a DE thats a really really dumb move

I don't know how anyone can grade them an "F".. 5th round we "drafted" a probowl caliber WR for our offense.. not many teams can say that.

Championships Barry won = 0. Conference Champs won = 0.

A RB can't carry a team. Defense carries a team.

As for the grade solid A.

Love the picks, looking to grab a CB or FS in the 4th and I will be leaning to add the + to that A.

1. Mario Williams (B): Should have traded, and not feared anything. Tamba Hali looks great along with Daryl Tapp

2. Demeco Ryans (D-) Horrible, Horrible, Horrible pick at this point. So many other TOP Round 1 Caliber players that we could have used before this guy. Horrible.

3. Charles Spencer (B+) Great pick, big guy (yet does he fit our system) good Senior Bowl.

4. Eric WInston (D-) looked absolutly FREAKING horrible at the Senior Bowl, was embarassed. Injury prone, and converted from TE so he has little experience. Horrible pick.

C-

I went w/ A-, simply because we addressed 3 needs (not 4) with our 4 picks. Even for the whiners out there, all will be forgiven if our picks PRODUCE! :yahoo:

I would've given the team a F but picks #33, 65 and 66 were solid, so it's a D. If they go with Ko Simpson at #98 then they'll get a D+.

simple for me:

A+

addressed your biggest needs on both sides of the ball and took FOUR players with first-round talent. wow. excellent first draft for kubiak.

B+ Mario is gonna make our DL much better against the run and improve our pass rush. Ryans is going to be a good Lb for us....most of our LBs are former college DEs. Spencer and Winston for our OL....could be our starting RS of Texans OL. If we get Simpson in 4th....maybe McNeal in 6th....This is our best draft in our short history.

2002: Carr, Pitts....not much left over from so many picks
2003: AJ, DD
2004: DRob,Babin?
2005: TJ

this is a damn good draft year and the Texans out of all the teams where set to have A+ draft but faltered by not leveraging the strength of all their picks, however getting Winston and Spencer in the 3rd. did calm me down a bit :whew

Then you might as well rename Houston to "The city that is blind and proud of it!" and I'll be walking into walls with the rest of them.

A to A+ hands down.

I give it an A+. I'd probably go with an A, but that wasn't possible and I'm an optimist.

Williams will anchor this line and instantly improve the rest of the defense with his ability to rush the passer. You know, that thing that constantly puts Carr on his back. It turns out that the rule book states that the Texans can indeed put pressure on the other team's QB.

Passing on OLine in the 2nd was risky, but Ryans can play any of the 3 LB spots and is an upgrade over the players already on the roster. He led a very good Alabama defense.

Winston fell to them and they were able add 2 good players in the 3rd round. Great value picks here.

With Ko Simpson available I'm hoping they add a playmaker in the defensive backfield to finish this draft off.

Maybe I have Steel Blue glasses, but this team is going to be much improved.

I cant trust any of your comments from now on...

I gave it a B+, but Buffalo had the worst day 1 ever. Donte Whitner at 8 was a major reach. He's good, but not that good. And John Mccargo at 26 was also a major reach. Mccargo will be a bust.

Alot of interesting WR's still on the board probably a good one or two in the group. That will be solid 3rd maybe 4th WR.

Also agree with another post the Ko Simpson pick would be fun to start day 2.

I happen to be a huge Darnell Bing fan but don't think it fits. But would make at least this Texan fan very happy.

Anyone who thinks one pick decides the value of your draft needs to wake up. There is more to the draft then the first round. Also if we never get to Peyton Manning do you ever think we are going to beat the Colts?

My grade was A-, We did grab some solid players without having to reach for them. I cannot truely grade the draft until its over though :twocents:

I gave them a C+, but I'd have given them a B (not available, really B+) if I'd known that Spencer could play OT. They'll be up in the A's if they take Ko Simpson with this next pick. :redtowel:
