Houston Texans 2024 OTA’s and Mandatory Mini Camp

Texansballer74

The Marine
Ladies and Gents Texans football is about to kickoff today with the first day of OTA’s.

Let’s go Texans

On May 20, Organized team activities (OTAs) begin through the following dates: May 20-21, May 23, May 29-31, June 3-4 and June 6. This will include offense vs. defense drills with 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 practices.

Mandatory minicamp begins June 11 and proceeds through June 13 before the Texans break for the summer.

Puka Nacua finished 2nd in OROY with 1,500 receiving yards, and yet led the league in dropped passes.

Tyreek Hill had 1,800 receiving yards, and yet had the most dropped passes in his career last season.

I'm not fretting over a single tweet from OTAs.

No need to worry about WR 5.

As per usual, Tunsil staying home unless he is is forced. The lack of leadership for a guy paid like he is, and the undisputed king of the line is stunning. As the leader goes, so goes the line. Soft, undisciplined, not physical in the run game, do what you have to and little more.

Tons and tons of talent but I’m ready to draft his replacement in 25 or possibly look at Fischer, although I see RT with him. Tunsil loafs too much and lacks leadership. Your LT should be an absolute beast. Tunsil is a very good finesse player who is otherwise lackluster

Well, I can tell you’re in mid-season form. Did you forget that he had knee surgery, and that he’s probably rehabbing?

You'd think longtime fans would get this by now about OTA's and camp.

Everywhere I've seen that tweet people are practically calling for Metchie's head.

Read about a Derek Stingley interception off of Stroud today as well. Maybe we should start looking at 2025 QB prospects..

I dont think anyone is worried about a single drop.

Metchie aint Tyreek Hill or Puka Nacua either tho. Big time playmakers at the top of the depth chart can drop passes.

When youre competing to be the 4th wr at best, the fewer instances like that the better.

Because he's not healthy enough to participate, or he thinks he's above showing up for OTA's. He got paid.

Either way this isn't good and helps explain the Fisher pick.
Speaking of Fisher, he must be getting reps instead, so how is he looking?

It’s the second day of camp and I’m pretty sure Coach and company understands what’s going on.

Have to stop throwing the negative stuff around.

Assumption

Brother, you made a post explicitly about a single drop... in OTA's.

It could have been the only drop he had all day, but because it made it on social media, it becomes a narrative.

I was posting tweets and things i heard about the Texans as i found them. After the first couple of posts i decided instead of putting them in a single post id just edit the post and lump them together.

The only narrative is one you created in your head. No one here said anything over the top about a single drop.

Thats part of training camp and pre season though. Players will have 1 missed block, a missed assignment, a blown coverage, ect... Its going to get posted and mentioned. Especially about guys who are fighting for bottom roster spots.

OK, I clearly misinterpreted your "Metchie needs to lock in" comment. My bad.

Disagree. It's not assumption that he was injured and had surgery. Googling, there's plenty of information on recovery from this. Now it's a fact that professional athletes have access to the best rehab available, but still, football is a violent sport and there are, or should be, reasonable expectations by fans.

Did you read the part, “ saying he might think he’s above showing up to camp?”

As far as the injury part, that’s why I said the coaching staff understands what’s going on. They’ll bring him back slowly. It’s just OTA’s.

Fans just need to sit back and try to enjoy the game. Your expectations will get you caught up in your feelings about these things all the time.

If anyone knows how to pull that 18 minute Vandameer/Harris day one OTA vid off the Texans website and post it here it is worth watching. It will get you fired up.

Just watched the Cody Stoots video about the OTAs. He had high praise for Green's and Pierce's conditioning and the work of the WR group. CB2 looks suspect, but they're running 7 on 7s. He also said Marcus Harris looks like a LB in a DT body. Looking forward to the preseason.
