Any thoughts on this big game? It appears the state of Arkansas is in a frenzy with the Horns coming.

I'll go out on a homer limb and say the Horns roll 31-17.

It seems the Hogs lost a ton of players from last year's team and I expect a big game from Young and Benson. If only the Horns D would show up!
 
Too bad the SWC had to blow up years ago. I miss the regional nature and feel of the old days.
 
If the Horns don't pull out this game it's going to go down as another disappointing year. They're still ahead but barely.

I just don't know what to make of the Texas team every year. They should be vying for a national championship every single year like Miami, Oklahoma, etc. Instead it seems we lose a game we shouldn't and lately we get blasted by OK. I just don't get it.

Holding out hope for this game though!
 
Texas won, but it definately wasn't the best game of the night. That honor goes to Georgia Tech vs Clemson. Wow that was a great ending.
 
Young looked very inaccurate tonight. With the young recievers they have, he will have to make alot of perfect passes this year.
 
The Longhorns tried and tried to lose this game with Arkansas. Vincent Young made some foolish moves...He needs to tighten up his passing game. I certainly didn't see a championship caliber team. Arkansas' offensive line was controlling Texas' D-line. I wasn't impressed with this victory.

A win is a win...I'll take it. With the way Tech is looking, losing to them would be brutal.

But neither matter. Still gotta beat OU to accomplish anything.
 
Honestly, the defense didn't really impress me that much either. Jones broke contain just about every time he would run and the secondary looked pretty poor at times too. Huff needs to practice holding onto the ball since he dropped 2 easy picks. That's one game and hopefully it will only make them better.
 
Texas didn't look like a smart football team. How many times does the end have to lose contain, before he figures out what to do, or gets fired. Also Benson and Vincent should know when you are trying to run down the clock and the end of a game, you don't run out of bounds.
 
You can be the most skilled football player in your league, but pulling bonehead stunts like Young running out of bounds when Arkansas had ZERO timeouts...is NOT very smart. This could have eventually given Arkansas just enough time to return the punt and set up for a field goal for the "W".
 
I think in that situation the coach should have the team down the ball. That takes 45 seconds off the clock and you lose 1-2 yards. You then punt it and leave them with 10-15 seconds to do something. Young made a bonehead mistake, but why even give him the option?

I'm more and more under the impression that teams need a time management coach. Mike Martz seems like the poster child for it.
 
The Horns did not look good. Greg Davis is still the same Greg Davis. Same offensive problems they have had for the last few years. Mr. Sunshine Pumper (Mack Brown) has not taken over the offensive as he has said he will do. If the Horns play like that against OU....they will get spanked!

That being said...hopefully they will work on their game the next few weeks...and it was still a "W" in the win column.

Of course, I will be there supporting them NO matter what!!!
 
Actually the style of play from the Texas offense is more of a reflection of Mack Brown than Greg Davis. Davis only calls what he's told to...and that comes from Brown.

Not defending Davis but it's not entirely his fault.
 
The offense was fine for the most part (couple of missed routes, and little poor time management at the end). My concern after the game is the defense. It is still the same, we have all the supposedly great athletes, and the corners still play 12 to 15 yards off the ball. If the met in the middle it is still a 7 yard gain, one a first. Let's get in someone's face and make them beat us over the top, we got two pretty quick safties back there to help out. As i mentioned earlier, our defensive ends or outside lb you have outside contain, stunk it up again. You think after watching last years tape they would know Jones is quick and will boot outside you if you are not playing good technique
 
The offense looked great in the 1st and 3rd quarters. We ran the ball and then stretched the defense with play action. We got away from that in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Young's strength is not flat and short routes. He is more adept at throwing the ball down field. While I think he needs to eventually work on his shorter stuff, we need to play to his strengths the majority of the time.
