Heard back from Gary @ KEYE re: Monday Night game in Austin

DiehardChris

You betcha!
First reply from Gary:

As it stands right now the game is not being made available to us (but
only to the Houston's primary and secondary markets = Houston, Beaumont,
and Bryan).

I am lobbying CBS/NFL to allow us to show the game, if not on our
primary channel, perhaps at least on our secondary channel (42-2).

Follow up:

The NFL has nixed our request for Monday night.

So there you have it. Gary - for all the crap we give him about the Titans games - did all he could to get this game for us - but getting the NFL to budge on something like this can be likened to moving mountains.

Man, this really sucks.

It shouldn't be this complicated to watch a game. I haven't missed ONE Texans game since their inception, whether it be on TV or going to see it live. I am not about to now.

I wouldn't worry about this. I think the odds of actually having the game in Houston on Monday are pretty low. There is a good chance they will go with moving the off weeks for the teams so the Ravens and Texans can play each other later in the season.

Edit: If I was Bob McNair, I would be stressing strongly how playing the game Monday night would be incredibly unfair to the team. They have houses and families in town also and are going thru the same stresses and anxieties all Houstonians are right now. There is no way they can be prepared to play on Monday.

That would be even worse - that would mean our home opener wouldn't happen until what - October vs. Indy?

Gah. This could really hurt the team. (I'm of course removing all thought about the hurricane in this post and just talking purely about football... I know the 'cane is much more important.)

Money is the root of all evil. In 1980 if you told me I could listen to air traffic control towers, track planes, look at traffic practically anywhere real time, have sports sites where I can talk to fans, look up anything as it came to my mind on a computer, yet I can't watch a Houston NFL football game on TV in Austin I would have laughed.....until you said the "M" word.

Direct TV will show the game, on channel 717 or 717-1 so head over to the sports bars.
