There's a lot of negativity this preseason. I've done my part. But has anyone seen any positives thus far?

I liked what I saw from the secondary. Roby looks like he has speed and can run to the ball. Lonnie Johnson looks the part of a physical press corner. Addai looks like he can help at SS. That's what I've got.

Not really.

Not one single new player, draft choice or free agent stood out.

Rumored trade of Clowney + draft picks to Miami is disgusting.

Going to be a long season.

Despite all the negativity, I like the improvement we've made in our OL, which should produce a middle of the pack performance increase.

Our New Orleans starting 5 may not be our 5 best players, the coaches' stated objective, but represents a veteran lineup. If Kalil falters, he'll be replaced by Johnson.

I believe Scharping is one of our 5 best players. But I also believe Fulton is one of our 5 best players. You can't play Scharping at RG without moving Fulton to OC, who I believe will be more effective than Martin. The question remains whether we'll see this lineup.

But to return to the topic, I think our OL has improved and this is good.

Ta'amu. The little I saw last night made me wonder why he didn't start the whole game yesterday than Webb. Webb should have just been in the sidelines.

Agree. Secondary was upgraded responsibly this preseason...which has a long way to go between now and Sunday. I say responsibly because Jags are rumored to be cutting Bouye to avoid a 15 million cap hit this year. Our draft turned up several keepers with big upsides. Our run defense is pretty damn good again. Blackson could be set for a breakout year. Want to see more Tim Kelly but he sure looks the part. Te’s should be a physical plus. DW looks more serious and focused this year. It’s his year to earn a big contract. Who knows about R Johnson but he may surprise as may Bellamy. Finally Anger was pretty awesome and should replace Daniels. Overall roster is going in the right direction with cap space to sustain it for a run.

Positive post. Hope you are right. I do agree about Anger, overlooked him.

I’m going to agree with O’Brien on something. He suggested the fans would be more interested watching scrimmage practices, one on one drills (he used Watt versus a lineman from Green Bay) than preseason games.

I don’t pay much attention or hold much stock in activities like the NFL combine and preseason games. I’ve seen too many times over the years players excel in those activities and totally wilt under the bright lights of regular season play. The opposite is true as well.

My opinion hasn’t changed at all from post-draft to now. I think the o-line and the secondary is going to be awful this year. It’s going to be really tough winning games like that. JMO.

I'm really surprised he wants that considering the reports that the defense always dominates those

We used to have night practices where we could see that. The Texans pretty much shut that down.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure a whole lot really stood out this pre-season. Yes, Lonnie has made a few plays, I think Huggins has made a good case to make the squad, but not too much more than that stood out.

Buddy Howell had that nice game against the 3’s and 4’s, but never saw him again, or against better competition.

You just really don’t get to see enough of them in the games to make anything out of it. And when you do, most times it’s against lesser talent.

Yes & no. All the RBs looked good in pass pro. That's good, I think. The bad is why'd it take so long to replace Blue?

I think a decent (not great, but decent) OL can be fielded if 'Chin realizes who the top 5 are. I'm worried about the secondary and fear the attempts to improve it won't be enough. RB corps will be surprisingly better. ST play should be the brightest spot on a mediocre team.

Once regular season starts our offensive line will be identified and as they come together we should see better results than 2018.

Game 4 left tackle Rick Leonard number 72 looks good to me of course that was against Rams.

I also like Blackson, Steven Mitchell wide receiver, tight end Jerell Adams, running back buddy Howell and both Corners Lonnie Johnson and Brad Roby.

I’ve been fairly impressed with Leonard all camp. Texans have played him a lot all preseason. Mostly LT, a little RT, but he seems more suited to LT. Was a Saints fourth rounder last year.

One thing I noticed this preseason, the cheerleaders are extremely hot this year!!! Damn!! Whomever held the tryouts and selected this years group should be commended and given the 2019/20 Viagra cup for sure!!!

Agreed, I hate the pre-season games. You have a bunch of guys that are desperate to make a roster so they go out there and play recklessly getting themselves and others hurt. They don’t think about being healthy a full season like the starters do because there is no tomorrow for them. I mean look at how many key injuries we suffered and for absolutely zero gain. Even if we won all 4 games and only had 1 injury it’s still a loss because winning those 4 did nothing for us.

Leonard isn't the one that completely whiffed and gave up a sack yesterday is he?
Didn’t see that play or the circumstances. Are the standards for a first year PS T perfect execution or you get a snide remark? In the preseason I did see some athleticism, no motion penalties...very few penalties of any type, and several run blocking plays where he cleaned up his assignments. Who knows his status on this squad but he has some skills. Seriously, it’s important to rag on a rookie getting his first chance? I was just enjoying watching a young man trying to make an NFL team and knowing his assignments.

I really couldn't care less what you enjoyed watching.

I asked if that was the guy that whiffed because... I wanted to know if that was him. The way you interpreted or felt about the question is irrelevant.

"I dont know" would have sufficed. Thanks.

That's encouraging thanks Lucky. Getting some help in our #2 problem area is progress.
