i admit that just before the draft, i was disappointed & not sure if today would force me to drinking, but i think we had an outstanding overall first day. picking mario, as i've said, didnt hurt my feelings. i however didnt like that once again the staff seemed to actively avoid the fans requests like the plague.
looking at the entire day though, we kicked butt. 2 linemen, the best defensive prospect, and an early "denver-esque" LB. i would've preferred d'brick first, and a DE in the third, but i trust that kubiak's a better talent evaluator than me. what we did though, is make our current players better through the draft, while adding great individual talent. by drafting "ugly" we've created a ripple effect that's going to boost overall performance. carr & dd get legitimate blocking (if DD survives a full season, i guarantee right now atleast 1500 rushing yards). our wr's & te's are now going to have time to run their routes and will be given more opportunities because of an improved running game & our qb wont be lying on his back. our secondary just got a big boost because of a monster pass rusher, and dont have to load the box as often because of our new ball-hawk in the front 7.
