Thanks for the post Charger... and nothing towards you, but if I hear the comparison of Pats last year to us one more time, I think I'll puke.

Ya know, the Patriots lost their first game last year and they won the Sugar Bowl.

Seriously though, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Patriots run the 3-4 D? I've been agreeing with those who don't like the 3-4, but I kind of felt different about it when I remembered that.

You guys are far from the Patriots! But close to the Chargers!

I dont think either team is in a position too far from the Chargers. There are just as many teams that fall flat on their face after a week one win as there are teams that start their winning ways after a week one loss. I do agree that the Patriots reference is making me sick. I believe they started out 0-2 right? Doesn't mean that the road to success starts by losing two consecutive games.

Ok, and where would you put the Lions, seeing as how the Lions and Texans are the closest teams in the NFL. And if you think different, why?

and the Texans at least have an excuse, although its starting to wear thin, Detroit has nothing, or are they still blaming everything on Barry Sanders retiring and the owners not getting sellouts every weekend?

No, and in fact that's the problem. The games *do* sell out, and the Ford Family runs the team like it's a business. It is a business, so as long as fans continue to fill the seats even with losing teams, why should they change? Is it any wonder why the Lions won 4 championships before the Fords bought the team, and none since?

On the brighter side, William Clay Ford is getting on in years, and his kid cares a lot more about winning. The changes towards where the team is going took awhile, but we now have most of the peices to win.

You need to put the bong down lion fan. the Texans or Chargers would kill the detroit kitty cats.Your division has been weak for some time now and you still can't win it.correct me if I'm wrong but it was the chargers as injured as they were last year played the pat's and was beating them until we missed a chip shot field goal with just a couple minute on the clock. Then they tied it up and the chargers lost in overtime.Wow! looks like they realy pounded the chargers....lol

Lions have 3 great components for a successfull team, WR, HB and a QB. I heard they're offensive line was horrid the other day though...they have to overcome that. I think it's time to stop smack talking the Lions and realise they are going to be a serious threat in the coming years. Not this year and maybe not next, but soon. Honestly when it comes to the AFC I believe the Lions and Texans will soon be two of the best teams. There is to much young talent on each...and both are drafting real well. Sorry for taking this off topic.

It's really nice to see opposing fans come to the board and actually discuss things about the teams, not just show up and throw down garbage.
Reminds me!... glad NE isn't on our schedule this year .. as a whole, the most classless fans to ever visit Texan message boards. :twocents:

I second that, I remember it was like a whole group of Jr High students were on the board; bad mouthing everyone and their mothers. It was really hard to have meaningful football discussion with them.

Yea I realised that after I typed it...felt so stupid for it. I didnt feel like editing my post though.

As for the opposing fan comment, well a little but not necessarly. Texans are my favorite team in the AFC. There are to many players on the team I like right now not to like the Texans. Carr, Davis, Johnson and then Robinson. I cant help get excited about this young Texans team.

You know i think your the first cowboys fan to come on here and actually be descent to us lol. You think Henson will be starting QB for dallas before end of season ???

Lions are not good. at all. Coming into the game our defense didnt really know what to expect from the texans offense. They burned us on 2 all out blitzes when they ran screens on both which is just great play calling. The texans can move the ball. Although if the Lions copy what the chargers did in the second half where we limited their offense to 77 yards after giving up 259 in the first half lions got a shot. I doubt the Lions D stops the Texan offense especially after the offense lost the game last week. You would think the texans would want to be more aggresive this week, but htats just not the way it works in the nfl. DC's just tend to stick to what they know, instead of doing the obvious. Although, our DC adjusted nicely last week.

I say it's texans 27 lions 21 with lions getting a TD in garbage time to make it a game with 3 minutes left. Then get shut down in the end.

Well as it stands right now, Romo has been named as the back up quarterback to Vinnie. Most of us Dallas fans were pulling for Henson to be the backup but it's obvious he's not ready for even that type of role yet. If Henson develops he has a chance to be the starting quarterback next year, he's got all the right tools...just not the actuall NFL expierence. As for Romo, I believe he should get used to the backup position because if Henson lives up to his potential then Romo will be backup to Henson here in a year or two. :thumbup Romo did very impressive against KC though, however it's doubtfull he'll ever stay consitent. I really hope Vinny doesnt get hurt this year because if he does we're left with one QB who really isnt very good and has had plenty of time to progress and another that isnt ready to lead a team. I really like Henson though, and I believe along with many other Cowboys fans that he was a steal...theres no doubt this guy has an arm. Hopefully his decision making improves and he turns into a top notch QB.

Come on man Half Back what good HB do they have ? Texans have all them components 5 good WR,2 really good HB and Carr and Banks QB !!!
But yeah henson needs a lil more PT before he's near ready to be the starter but i think in the future he will be a very good quaterback for yalls team ! Cause Testaverde(spelling) is getting a lil old !

Hey Im not saying the Texans wont be great either because if you have read some of my posts you'll see that I believe the Texans will infact be an outstanding team. I even hinted it in the post you quoted of me. Im also not saying the Lions will be better than the Texans, I merely said both teams will end up being real good soon. If you dont recall, the lions picked up Keven Jones in the draft...so yea they have a good halfback. Im just saying though the Lions have had a really bad history I believe a turnaround is being made. Thats why I suggest we be carefull of our arrogance towards the Lions because they will be a force to be reckoned with in 2-3 years.

I agree not long till the lions are a playoff team. Its just we try to make good points here in houston cause no matter what teams we do beat we never get any kind of respect from anyone around the NFL. I think some people arent even aware houston has a football team again lol !

The Lions do have some nice skill position players (Harrington, Charles Rogers, Roy Williams, Kevin Jones). The have a good pass-blocking o-line. Their offense just needs time to jell and Rogers to stay healthy. The defense still needs some work. I think this will be their focus in the next two drafts. I think 2006 will be a big year for them.

Well you have to expect that with such a young franchise. The Panthers have estabilished themsevles and so will Houston. The Houston bandwagon is growing though and when I think of Houston I think of a new age team. I remember watching Houston last year and although they were just in they're second year they were exciting to watch. Trust me, it's alot easier not being noticed and then surprising people than it is to be hated by millions world wide, hence the Dallas Cowboys. People tune in to actually watch my favorite team lose.

First Detroit gave us Grant Hill. Now they give us Charles Rogers, the Human Peanut Brittle. Maybe a few more hospitals up there are what's needed...? At least they dumped Hill and went on to NBA glory. Rogers' next season-ending injury will be in summer 2005, when his collarbone snaps again...this time while hoisting a Gatorade cooler onto his shoulder to celebrate a preseason victory. :hehe:

I was really high on the Lions all offseason, and told friends that the Texans/Lions game will be a really fun game to watch. Both Carr and Harrington recognize the spotlight will be on them, and there's a ton of young talent on both teams. I can't wait.

I expect high scores, way too many penalties, and a down-to-the-wire finish. That's usually not a good thing for the road team, but this is one ticked-off road team, so you never know!

Power to that we are just a LITTLE ticked off right now ! And i know a lot of people down here who LOVE dallas its not as bad as it seems.

I have seen this posted several times, and even though it looks to be an impressive stat, I think the Texans had as much to do with limiting their 2nd half production as the Chargers scheme did....they posted two sacks to put us long yardage situations that ultimately led to the two punts, but we had two other possessions ended with turnovers and the fifth of the half was DD's touchdown.

Again...props to the Bolts for taking advantage of the opportunities, but I think it was as much us shooting ourselves in the foot as it was D-Scheme from the opponent.

Another reason for limited yardage could be attributed to starting field position in the second half...by my rough calculation we averaged starting at our own 44 yard line... if we march down the field and score a touchdown on every drive, with no negative yardage plays, the Chargers would have only given up 280 yards in the second half...so maybe the 77 yards is a bit misleading.

Bottom line is still...Texans 0-1/Chargers 1-0...congrats to them.
