Gary Kubiak

McClain is on 610 right now, he just said he envisions Kubiak as HC and Jerry Gray(Grey?) as DC, Longhorn and Aggie, both from Houston, working together. Sounds good to me.

As long as Gray is Kubiak's choice. The coach should select his own staff. I am good with Gray personally.

John McClain is coming on 610am at 4:30, probably will have some useless information.

Not so.
Kubiak can't go anywhere, or declare, until Denver is out of the playoffs. A little patience is needed.

Yeah, it could be a few weeks before we hire a coach, depending on where certain teams end up in the playoffs. It would be really cool to end up with Kubiak after he scores another Superbowl ring. :thumbup

how was it that everyone knew charlie would be leaving the pats after the superbowl?

that is what makes me think he can still agree but not become the official HC of the texans yet.

Didn't everyone know that Romeo Crennel was leaving too?

Maybe it can be leaked who the coach is going to be, but they can't officially declare until they are out of the playoffs.

This is Kubiak, he is a football guy. He will not reveal much because guess what he does not care, he is all about winning games. Do not get me wrong the guy is sincere and has much respect for the organization and the city, but in truth he wants to keep the real information in house.

This being said, I think it will be leaked that Kubiak is being hired sometime next week once all the interviews have been conducted. This is assuming Ferentz does not interview, which I do not think he will. Ferentz is just using us for another job and/or a raise.

Combine this rumor thread with the John Elway as Texans OC thread and I think I could be a very happy fat man.

Kubiak HC
Grey DC
Elway OC

Bring back our ST coach. Sounds good on paper and I think Carr could end up with some of the best teachers in the game instead of a deffencive HC and an O-line coach as his OC. Bring back Carr. Bring back DD and take some suckers entire draft picks.

a good football player does not mean they are a good coach. Id rather NOT have Elway as OC. I want an ACCOMPLISHED coaching staff.

Even Gray at DC makes me wary... the Buffalo defense only finished two spots above us this last season.

The rumor is that Elway would be a consultant not the OC. I doubt even that would happen as he has 6-7 auto dealerships that he owns and manages along with an AFL football team. Sounds like he is pretty busy to me. Might be willing to do it for a while to get Gary off the ground and to a good start. I think they are pretty good friends.

I wouldnt be against him consulting.. maybe if he just came in for training camp and preseason to advise Carr... help him iron out his technique. I dont think Carr has had a truely great QB to advise him in the past.

Gray is from Lubbock.

I saw a commercial for his new furniture line too. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a quarterback consultant just like Jim Fassel was with the Ravens.

The year before they were second in the league in total D, first in sacks and top 5 in sacks. I think we'll be okay, this was a weird year in Buffalo...

Just read the transcript on the interview and was very impressed with this language. I would be very interested to see how the delivery was.

A Lion's fan just told me Kubiak will be interviewing with the Lion's later today. I thought he was only interviewing with us, guess I was wrong.

ive heard hes interviewing with quite a few teams. But ive also heard that he will only take a job either in Houston, or at A&M. DUnno how factual that last part is though.

He wants the job in Houston whether he is hired or not is still in question. Also, the Elway situation is not likely true. The thought is that if Gary gets the job he takes the QB and OL coaches from denver, at least that is what Shanahan has stated. Elway would come in in a QB coach position for the Broncos not the Texans.

I sure wouldn't want Elway here. Anybody coming out of college that refuses to play for the team that drafts him doesn't deserve the privilege to play in the NFL much less coach in it.

That is quite a grudge. A 23 year old one at that. Anybody know what the statute of limitations is on grudges? :)

Being up here in the great state of Kansas, I don't get to here much in regards to team info. Any nice tidbits you can share regarding Kubiak and others.

It's all in the way you pronunciate it...Just sound it out, Ga-rudge. Man teaching a fellow southerner how to talk hick...thought it would never happen.

Hey, Broncos fan here. Personally I hope you guys get Kubiak just because he has been due for a long time and the Texans are well respected amongst Broncos fans. Many of us here wish your season had turned out better than it did.

If you get Kubiak you will be getting a brilliant offensive minded head coach who has worked with the best and for the best. I am eager to see if he can suceed once he is no longer under Shanahan's shadow.

The Broncos loss would definantly be your gain.

Adam Shecter said on the NFL Network this morning that Cass, McNair, and Reeves met with Al Saunders for SIXTEEN hours earlier in the week and they met with Kubiak for 5 hours yesterday and both interviews went great. Supposedly according to him, Kubiak is the frontrunner and the job is "Kubiak's to lose".

What about as a QB coach.

Geez, I wonder what they were discussing for sixteen hours. That seems like quite a lot and not be the front runner.

Go to the front page and watch the video of Saunders...I was looking for sharp sticks to poke into my eyes listening to Saunders ramble and babble endlessly. If we hire him I'm jumping off the nearest cliff.

Not really. Kubiak has already had an interview back when we 1st got started. No need for a sixteen hour intv. Beside, he's got a playoff to prepare for, Saunders doesn't.

It would seem that the rumor of Elway is a play by the agency that represents both Elway and Carr, Octagon. Would not be surprised if they would be representing Kubiak at the table either as a HC candidate.

Very likely. I VERY much doubt that Elway is even REMOTLY interested in being our OC. I have heard, and give more creedence to, that he might act as a consultant and sort of QB guru to help Gary get David up to speed. He and Gary are pretty good friends and I could see him giving Gary a hand getting started. I am like 99.9999% sure that if Elway was going to take an OC job (never happen) it would ONLY be with the Broncos.

Lions fan here. He sure sounds like he wants to go to the Texans. I'm not sure how he feels about the Lions but who knows. The Fords are known to throw the big bucks out there. If you guys get him and he fixes the Offensive line and you guys draft Bush, watch out! You guys may have a 2500 yard back in the future.

I completely agree. If Elway has any role on this team it will be as a QB consultant to help David Carr like what Jim Fassel did with the Ravens after being canned by the Giants.
