Texans Draft
2. None, traded out.
3a. Corey Webster, CB, LSU
3b. None, traded out
4.Jason Brown, G/C, North Carolina
5.Bo Scaife TE Texas
6.Timmy Chang, QB, Hawaii
7. Maurice Clarrett, RB, The Ohio State University(sort of)

Very interesting mock, but I don't think Scaife is going to be a very good NFL tightend. He just doesn't have the size, and I feel that he'd be abused when asked to block. If I was looking for a TE around the 5th Round I'd have several other TEs ranked higher than him. Just to list a few: Joel Dreesen Colo. St., Billy Bajema Okla. St., Jerome Collins ND, Adam Bergen Lehigh, Victor Sessay Mizzou, Anthony Curtis Port. St., etc. Overall it looks good, and I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into it. Nice job :thumbup

I dont think we do Keyfro. Interior linemen are the biggest need and we got Jason Brown.

I like that mock... that is one draft where I would not be disappointed if we got Williamson in the first.

we need an offensive tackle somewhere in there

I traded the second rounder and second third for a Playmaker like Ware. Thing is when you get to the third, the OT/interior lineman are not at starting level but a CB like Webster could be a nickle starter and slowl make hsi way into the lineup. When I got to the fourth, I thought that Brown would be a great value pick since he can play G or Center and can be a versatile pick.

Yeah, I agree with you. I thought about Scaife and thought he might get converted to a WR. Blocking is a trait that can be learned, plus he has a great pair of hands, so I figured he could be useful.

So if Wade or Wand were injured, you'd be comfortable with having either Garrick Jones or Chad Beasley starting?

Have you forgotten about Pitts & Wiegert?

When's the last time Wiegert played OT? If Pitts were to start at OT, that would mean we'd have to see Milford Brown on the field again, and that's an idea I'm not too keen on...

Uhh that would mean putting pobably a much worse tackle to protect Carrs blind side as well as giving Brown(horrible in pass protection) at one of the Guard spots.

Overall, I'd be pleased with this draft, but I would've taken Jerome Collins (5th round), Nehemiah Broughton (6th round), & the BPA (7th round) at the OL or DL positions (Larry Burt, Albert Means, Scott Young, Sam Mayes, etc.)

I doubt that Clarrett, will drop past the 5th round, & possibly the 4th. Also, with Ragone's respectable showing in the NFLE, I sure hope that CC doesn't use another pick on a QB this year.

So, you're saying that a rookie LT would be able to do better than Pitts, who has 3 years of NFL experience & played 2 years as a starting LT?

We,ve still got Todd Washington who can play LG & Weary should be much improved at the RG position. Add to that, if Jason Brown is able to hit the ground running, we could slide McKinney over to the LG position (his natural position). We've got other options. Besides, the odds of us losing both tackles is pretty low.

Oh man, just say NO to Timmy Chang. I'd rather bring in Leaf, Couch or Akili Smith than draft Chang.

You might not like him, but I figured that there would be a QB taken. He did throw for a ton of yards, so maybe we can trade him for a 4th rounder next year?

now I know its time for the REAL DRAFT this stuff is getting ridiculous :hairpull:

and why would the Vikings take two WR's with both 1st round picks?

the Texans trade up with NE & give up their 2nd & 3rd, not for Baas mind you but for a player that is similar to Peek, no wonder NE keeps winning Superbowl's :thumbdown

Chang threw for a bunch of yards in a wide open offense, which inflated his passing stats...If he gets drafted, it will be in the 7th and he'll likely struggle to stay on a team, much like former Texas Tech signal caller Kliff Kingsbury...

Yes, you are right, but there is always some team out there who will give a chance to a guy who can throw for a bunch of yards. My point is that we know that the Texans will draft a QB for extra picks, so why not a guy who threw for a ton of yards. We could work with him for a year then pick up some picks down the line.

Just out of curiosity, and I am not saying they are similar, but didn't Alex Smith also come from a Wide open offense where he threw for a bunch of yards?

hmmm Maurice Clarrett yeah i dont think that will happen, simply because he dont seem like the kinda guy who C.C and Capers would want on their team. No character and no class !

Smith did, but the reason he is considered a top 10 pick is that he has much better arm strength, better accuracy, more mobility, better size, and he led his team to an undefeated record last season...

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally a mock were the Bucs get BMW and the Texans either get DJ or Troy Williamson, in this case Williamson, best mock ever and I think that if the draft does go that way I'll be all smiles for the rest of April and maybe May!!!!

lol. That's what I thought. Not going to criticise anyone for doing a mock. It's a lot of trouble.
But those last three you musta been getting sleepy. Any ranked LSU DB is worth a third round sniff. They've worked out befor. Webster might be a good pick. But I'll write it again one more time, maybe it will sitck. This club has to fix one of the two lines for it to go any where next year. Ware might be the guy to bring the D line around. I still say Williamson is smoke. There are simply not enough targets to warrant first round money. Nor can the current line hold the blocks long enough to execute a fly pattern. If we could AJ would of had HOF numbers last year. First, I'm confused as to how Williamson is going to stretch the feild in a game with Carr on his back ? Secondly, what NFL d-coordanator is gonna believe it ? Oh well you could be right. JMHO.

I am glad you like it. Putting a first round mock together can take quite a bit of time, let alone projecting out to 7 rounds. Clearly people have difference of opinion, but it is nice to see a person beign very enthusiastic about it. It means a lot to me that you really like it! Thanks for your kind words. :)
