From the Saints board...

Quotes from the Saints message boards:

"If that is true, the Texans must be even more stupid than previously presumed. You're having someone with no accountability control possibly the most important draft of your franchise to date."

"Even if you don't take Bush at #1, why Williams? He's a solid player but to take him at #1 would be the ultimate reach! Either trade out of there or take a chance on hitting a home run with one of the QBs. Williams is a fine player but I thought he was a reach for the Saints at #2. #1 is just flat out ridiculous!"

"You would have to think that they simply would not be that stupid but if you saw that team play last year those guys earned that 2-14 record...it wasn't an accident. So, you have to wonder about the acumen of the guys putting the team together. Methinks that they are about to seriously "out clever" themselves on this one..."

"I just pee-pee'd my pants in excitement"

"Houston just picked Sam Bowie!!!!"

"if we pass on bush i will kill myself"

"If Houston passes on Bush, it would be VERY foolish.
If we passed on Bush, it would be EXTREMELY foolish."

A lot of the draft "experts" have Mario Williams ranked as the #2 BPA in this draft. I could care less what Saint's fans think.

Let's not forget they are Saints fans.

Who dat, say they gonna beat them Saints?

Remember that when they are a better team than us...Wait, they already are!

They're just bent out of shape they wont get him. If I were a Saints fan, I'd be drooling over Will Smith and Mario Williams anchoring their defensive line.

I'd rather the 2 time pro-bowler Drew Brees and the potential pro-bowler Ladanian Tomlinson clone Reggie Bush in the backfield instead:)

I say it all the time because it is cool. Have you ever been to Saint game and hear that line thrown out a thousand times? It's great.

Bottom line, we drafted what is best for the team as a whole instead of what ever thought is the best player available.

Maybe McNair couldn't just pass on another high prospect DE again at #1.

Didn't Belichick catch flak for picking Seymour? All he has done form the heart to Pats defense.

Also, I've no reason to beleive Casserly is behind this. Surely Kubiak and McNair felt this was the way to go. Given Kubiak's expertise, I can understand him wanting a DE over a RB.

There are gonna be alot of suicides when the saints trade out of the pick, or draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson..

Did Belichick pick Seymour w/ the #1 pick in the ******* draft? I don't think so...

it was the 6th pick over all in 2001 Draft. If the PATS had the #1 pick over all they still would have picked Seymour.Facts don't lie Defense wins Super Bowls! You really think Belichick would have taken Vick? Just look what he has done in the draft in 1st round. Either a TE or a Line man!

People are going to be saying a lot worse than this. Merrill Hodge is going to have a fit.

Personally, if you ask me, you can thank all the "Bush Bowl" fans.......

the dumbest thing the Texans could've done in this situation, was to pick REggie Bush.

The cruelest.... Pick Vince Young.

The smartest...... D'Brick

The best....... Mario Williams, or whoever the best defensive player available.

Just wondering, who's #1?

I think I have an idea.

I feel like I was just in a carwreck and I keep saying to myself, "this didn't happen". Mario had better be the next L. Taylor.

Why would the Saints be laughing. If we hadn't taken him at #1 they would be pissing their pants to get him at #2. So the Saints can trade out and get some additional picks, that's great but exactly what is their FO's track record???? Just imagine San Antonio Saints fans, your FO just may have more opportunities to screw up.

2-14 record was upsetting, but this is the tip of the ********** iceberg here.
I could see if they thought mario was a better player than reggie, but they passed on him because he wanted too much ********** money!!!!!!!!!!
How much revenue will Bush bring back to this organization. Way more than the difference between him and Mario's contract i bet!!!!
This makes no sense
You don't pass on greatness because of 10-15 mil in a draft, especially with bush's marketability and popularity

What was it about? Football and what the head coach and owner of this team saw was best fit for this team.

How would you know so sure?
especially w/ what the media has been giving us

Well you are just makin up b.s. that you have no factual basis for.

What are you talking about? Have you not read/heard what was said about the office being split on who to take but that Kubiak and McNair were the deciding guys, and McNair told the others to take care of football stuff and he'd handle the PR dilemma

Of course they are some ignorant saints fans looking to rub it in...but can you blame them?

We have been a joke as a professional football team longer than you guys have.

I'm so excited that divine intervention has happened...the city of New Orleans needed something like this!

Reggie Bush is going to be a superstar! :yahoo:

that has nothing to do with whether the decision was based on money, football, or the teams best interest

okay so you're "info" is factual and mine is b.s., yet we're getting it from the same medium? okay buddy.....

HOUSTON--Southern Cal running back Reggie Bush has been the consensus choice for the top pick in this year’s NFL draft since the season ended in January. However, the Houston Texans, who own the top pick, are balking at Bush’s asking price. Reports out of Houston indicate that they may do the unthinkable, and use their prized pick on some nobody defensive end from North Carolina State.

“We are looking at Mario Williams of NC State as a possible alternative to Reggie Bush,” said GM Charlie Casserly. “Williams was a very productive player in college and we believe he is the top defender in the country. He can be a real difference maker. Right now Reggie Bush is being unreasonable in his contract demands, so we think this is a viable alternative.”

You got to admit....the Sam Bowie comparisons are pretty funny.

Mario Williams is going to be a superstar too. So I really don't think that you guys lost out in that regards....just hard to fathom that you would pass up on such a weapon considering how bad your offense has been since you've been in the league???

I agree with this. Now the Saints front office gets to negotiate with Mr 201. Gonna be fun. So if Prince Reggie wasn't worth 3000 points is he worth 2600 ?
We'll find out tomorrow.

yea charlie casserly blatantly proving my point
you want more sources?

"10 teams are in negotiations with saint's to move up" if the Texans don't trade for Young they will proved they have no idea how to run a draft.

This is Kubiak's pick, he knows he can build an offense with #1 parts, the defense? Not so sure. Casserly is gone, so he had very little hand in this. Looks like Kubes is using the Denver model more than people thought he would. Bottom line, there are numerous other backs who can run and catch, there are not many DEs who have the ability to demand double teams...

NO fans seems bitter. Cause you know they wanted Mario

Please, let's not be silly.

The rationalizing really doesn't make all that much sense. Just shoot yourself instead.

Mightymike said:

They made the same decision everyother team in the NFL made this year.

When no one wanted to trade up to get Reggie, they all said he isn't worth the $30 million gaurunteed that he thinks he deserves.

Well said. Especially the last sentence. :thumbup

Considering what Denver has been able to accomplish with their running game over the years, this decision really shouldn't surprise us.

And I'm sure there are just as many Saints fans crying in their beer tonight because they won't be getting Williams. And since they have the Deuce, I doubt very seriously that the Saints would be taking Reggie Bush. After all, Ditka isn't there anymore and they remember how they killed their entire draft over one RB from Texas.
