If you are buying Texans gear , McNair is pocketing some of the profits .... Until the bottom line is affected , I doubt we see significant change.

Have you seen these TV contracts? McNair makes money whether anyone buys the gear, tickets or anything else.
This franchise has as many 2-14 seasons as they do playoff seasons.
I stopped wearing Texans gear after the second 2-14 with the exception of when the games are actually being played.
And I stopped buying gear years ago...well, 'cept for the J.J. Watt "Thou Shall Not Pass" hoodie in the off-season (that thing is badass!).
But I didn't stop wearing gear to make a statement. I'm indifferent to this franchise, even though I'll be a fan as long as they have Houston in the name.
The truth is that this franchise has given us nothing to be proud of and has nothing great in it's history. They exist, and that's the only reason I've got gear and have been a fan. And the only consistent thing for 12 of the 14 seasons is that they have been a mediocre-to-really-bad football team. Today was as bad of a football team as I've ever seen in this town. Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe it.

Sure he makes $$$ .... the point is that it would cut into his profits , however small ..... They monitor all those income streams. It wouldn't go unnoticed.

Not buying their gear is the biggest way to voice your displeasure .... and you know darn well I aint no fair weather fan , Been here since the beginning supporting this franchise.
My thought process is that nothing else has gotten thru to them .... We've boo'd our way thru a couple 2-14 seasons and 10 more that resulted in us watching someone else's team in the playoffs .... we wont see any change in the philosophy of this franchise until it hits them in the pocketbook.
That means not buying their merchandise and empty seats .... As long as they keep selling out the stadium and selling gear .... same old same old.

"Wishy washy fair weather fans" are not watching this team right now. The very definition of that term means they are not tuned in. And they certainly are not posting on this message board.
This is an entertainment product at the end of the day and we are customers. This is especially true when you say a financial investment is required or risk being a "wishy washy fair weather fan".
Let me ask: Were you having fun and being entertained when the score was 41-0 and "our" team looked like a badly coached jv squad? I'm not going to judge you by what is fun to you, but today certainly didn't do anything for me.

Guys if you want to give up on this team go ahead. Count me out, I know we suck right now. There's no denying that, but when this team wins a SB I can honestly say I have been a fan through the good and the bad. I'm sure my dad is looking down watching, and I'm right there with him.

I've given up on them. The only reason why I even watched the game was because my wife wanted to. I've wondered the last couple of years if I would go to my grave before they go to a SB. But I don't even wonder that anymore, and with that I just don't care.

I'm right there with you, i still remember watching the Texans beat the Cowgirls in the inaugural season opener. Seems like ages ago now but i still have the same excitment for the team now as i did when they were a new team. Only difference is now we should be winning and we're not.

I'm sorry but I think this is stupid. There are better ways to make yourself heard and they don't involve shelving stuff I bought and wear all the time. The decal isn't coming off my truck, the caps aren't coming off my head (I rotate through a bunch of them) and my jerseys and t-shirts aren't going back in the closet.
I do see the point of not buying anything until this crap gets fixed. Vote with your wallet and don't buy anything. Makes sense. Things you've already bought are a done deal.
You really want to make people hear what you're saying? Don't go to the games. Drop that attendance and he'll wake up. several thousand fewer people buying nachos and ridiculously expensive beer and he'll get the message.

Was the market too large last time it happened? Pretty sure they moved to smaller market. In case you haven't noticed there are 3 teams pushing to move to LA, in theory leaving at least one other market open. Let's not forget the NFL's love affair with London.

It's a lot like the idea that fans being mad at you is better than fans not caring about you at all or bad publicity being better than no publicity at all (within reason). Apathy is the real enemy of any sports team.
A city full of Texans fans that aren't happy with the team at least tells the team that they have a bunch of people who want to love their team and just need a reason to come back.

Revenue sharing. It's one reason why teams like Cleveland and Oakland and TB can suck for so long and still turn a profit. Merchandise is licensed by the NFL, not by each team if I understand it correctly. A dip in Texans merch sales is going to take a little bit out of every owners pocket, but not so much that they are going to come at McNair. See: Cleveland and TB.

The tickets are always going to get sold. This isn't small market Jacksonville where a bad product on the field combined with a bad economy made them put tarps over half the seats in their stadium.

I bought commemorative t-shirts and hats when they won their division titles, it's the only direct money I've every spent on them. Since I voted against ALL the sports stadiums being financed with public money, my conscious is clear. I'll reward them with a small token of my appreciation if they do something to deserve it.

For me, it simply comes down to friendship. I post here because I consider many of you friends. Yeah, I'll admit a lack of "social life" in the real world, but that's by design.
My friend, I guess we have a difference in opinion about the definition of "stupid".
Wearing a team's gear is about pride for many people. I'm not seeing any aspect of this franchise to be proud of right now. Some are even embarrassed to be associated with perpetual losers and failure.
I guess if your Texans shirt is just another piece of clothing, then it is what it is.
I don't even advocate wearing or not wearing gear. For me, I tend to avoid wearing it because I don't even want to talk about the Texans with strangers. Wearing the gear just means someone is going to inevitably come up to me and ask "what's wrong with your Texans?", which is a conversation that is honestly a waste of my time. I'd rather it just not happen.

I can think of one loss that was definitely worse than the two against the Falcons and 'Fins, maybe two. Remember that 61-7 drubbing the Bengals gave the Oilers back in '89 and that "Stagger Lee" blowout by Denver in '87.
Casting my mind back to the early 80's, there were some teams as bad as this current Texans team. Not worse, mind you, but as bad.
Jerry Glanville's bunch was about as undisciplined as these Texans, but at least played with heart.

And this is where your argument always fails: This isn't the first sign of trouble. This isn't the second sign of trouble. This is the 13th year of trouble. OK, 12th year. The Texans legitimately had one year where they were truly good, and then Matt Schaub's foot got crushed. The following year was a mirage that you could see through early on with the blowout loss to GB, reinforced by the letterman jacket incident preceding the blowout loss to NE later in the season. I've spent 13 years waiting for fair weather. I've gotten one little eye in the middle of the hurricane. Was that the fair weather? Woohoo! Glad I stuck around for all these years since.
Yeah, I'm going to spend my Sundays actually enjoying the fair weather outside until the team shows me they aren't fair weather players.

Embarrassment by the owner of our fans HAS worked before. I believe it was a player who fell out of favor with the fans after being named to an All Star game held in Houston or other special event who was booed loudly. Perhaps Ensberg? I honestly fail to recall the specifics, but I recall the event. I recall being appalled at the fans, but it was effective. Perhaps it was Qualls after the Pujols fiasco. I just can't recall the details.

So, what IS the way you prove you are a loyal fan? To me it's not whether I spend money on stuff or not. It's about do I care about X team and yeah, I do care about the Texans a lot. I'm tired of people saying they have been there through the good and bad times. What good times lol? You mean those 2 anomalous years the team was worth a crap and earned the right to get beat in the playoffs? Damn, that's some low expectations right there I guess.
We're looking at yet another top 5 pick in the first 15 years of this franchise, I have to believe that is some kind of record. You know, maybe, instead of some people trying to wag their e-peens in the face of others about how much of a big bad fan they are, maybe they should step back and realize that some of us are still just as rabid but we can't take watching our team play like the worst team ever conceived anymore.
If a fan doesn't watch a train wreck and nearly have a heart attack on Sunday right now, then so what? This team is NOT going anywhere this year despite where Indy is. In fact, what happens if we do somehow get into the playoffs at an embarrassing NFL record of 6-10 or something. All that happened there is we lost ANY kind of top pick and we will get smashed by ANY team we face lol. But yeah, I guess we'll be able to beat our chests for a day and be like "yeah, I don't care, I support my team who cares as long as we make the playoffs that is all that matters".
I still turn on the game on Sunday, which I wouldn't do if I wasn't a fan. But once they start to get down..........................41-0.................yeah, sorry, doing something else. There is no nuance to this, there is no mine is bigger than yours. At that point it literally is just wasting time you could be doing something, ANYTHING, else with whether it be playing video games, house work, cleaning dog poop in the back yard (though that is similar to watching the Texans I guess) or hell even fapping. Any of those things are better than watchin..........................41-0!!!!!!! Enduring that doesn't put hair on your balls. It just means that you wasted X more time than I did....I went and spent my last day off before another work week actually ENJOYING myself.

Go to every game, go to one or go to none.
