I'll have to answer your question with another question, can Ross persuade Harbaugh to do it? If not, McDaniel is likely staying a Dolphin, win or lose. This is all about Harbaugh and Ross. Just a reminder, Miami had to forfeit their 2023 #1 pick because of Ross's tenacity.Again, my question is what difference does it make if McDaniels wins or loses?
if Ross wants to bring in Harbaugh who cares if McDaniels wins the last game?
• The big question in Houston is whether GM Nick Caserio will exit this season with the same level of power he’s had to potentially run a third coaching search in three years. There are a lot of internal questions on Lovie Smith’s viability as a head coach going into 2023, though Smith has made his case to owner Cal McNair, and with the team playing hard down the stretch. Still, I’d say the likelihood is he’d be gone, with Gannon, the Eagles’ DC, and Ryans, the Niners’ DC and former Texans captain, as top candidates to take his spot. Flores, given his relationship with Caserio, would be another name to watch.
Smith opened each team meeting in camp with a slide proclaiming the Texans would be 2022 World Champs. But their performance, even for a young team searching for a franchise quarterback, has been a disappointment. The roster is young and there is little high-end talent. But the hope had been to build the right way.
Lovie Smith II. another retread, has been that sucked with the Vikes, is ultra-conservative, that coaches the defense, and thinks 3 yards and a cloud of dust out of the single wing offense is innovative? You want that guy? No thanks. We already have him. What's the point of that move? 100% nonsensical. Why not?
I don’t think Lovie going to Cal is going around Caserio. Caserio didn’t hire him so Lovie is going to the guy who hired him to make his claim to stay.
Again, doesn’t matter if they win or lose week 18I'll have to answer your question with another question, can Ross persuade Harbaugh to do it? clickbait. If they want Harbaugh winning in week 18 should be of no never mind.Rumor only, but I am seeing smoke that if the Fins lose to the Jets this week, Mike McDaniel is on the chopping block.
Let’s judge the man on his own merits & not group people due to “similarities” they may/may not shareLovie Smith II. another retread, has been that sucked with the Vikes, is ultra-conservative, that coaches the defense, and thinks 3 yards and a cloud of dust out of the single wing offense is innovative? I think that is exactly what I said.Again, doesn’t matter if they win or lose week 18
We don’t know that either, for sure? Either way, they can make their case for retaining or firing, based on entire season, which includes last game!I think that is exactly what I said.
What? How does this square with me knowing what I said?We don’t know that either, for sure? Either way, they can make their case for retaining or firing, based on entire season, which includes last game!
We've seen Frazier as a HC.Let’s judge the man on his own merits & not group people due to “similarities” they may/may not share
It does matter in context every game is scrutinized, reviewed and matters. What? How does this square with me knowing what I said?
They should be out of the old coach sweepsWhy not?
The same guy who wrote a Mayo fluff piece that McClain turned down from Esterbe?Brian T Smith wrote Lovie will be fired
If Ross brings in Harbaugh it does not Matter win or lose. If Harbaugh is not on board then mcdaniels would definitely do better with a W. Might not save him but still better than loss.Again, my question is what difference does it make if McDaniels wins or loses?
if Ross wants to bring in Harbaugh who cares if McDaniels wins the last game?
I do not begrudge Mr. Smith trying to secure his position.
He’s butt hurt on how Lovie handle him weeks ago.The same guy who wrote a Mayo fluff piece that McClain turned down from Esterbe?
And they are making a big assumption that these teams would have drafted any differently. None of these teams knew how any of their draft choices were going to turn out, so to assume they would have taken a different player is pure guess work. And that is why, this last game is so damn important not only to Lovie (coming or going) but the future success of Texans franchise.
They got Trevor and a competent coach, we don’t
That Aaron Wilson article is extremely detailed and highlights the mutual interest remaining between the Texans and Gannon.
Lovie is gone and not just for the season record. @CloakNNNdagger and I spoke a while back and he told me Lovie is not a receptive person.

“Lovie’s job not safe,” a source said. “This has been a terrible season, but that’s not all that this is about.”
Among the concerns expressed by sources about Smith’s management style: not being receptive to suggestions and feedback regarding strategy, scheme, practice routines and the use of analytics and other data.
Smith, 64, has been characterized as an old-school coach who has been as advertised in terms of applying a hard-nosed and hard-working approach to the game.
The myriad of issues with the Texans have not involved a lack of buy-in from players, per multiple sources. The effort is regarded as being consistently strong, including solid performances in five one-score defeats that includes recent losses to the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Texans were steamrolled 31-3 by the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday and were not competitive on either side of the football as the offense struggled mightily to run or pass and the tackling was shoddy on defense. It’s the lack of consistency and execution along with a roster that still has obvious holes, including the all-important quarterback position expected to be addressed in the draft and/or free agency.
This was last year when Esterbe tried to get McClain to write a fluff piece about Mayo. Pancakes refused and Brian T Smith wrote it.He’s butt hurt on how Lovie handle him weeks ago.
That’s what we do. All pretty clear #1’s. Lost in the loser shuffle. And they are making a big assumption that these teams would have drafted any differently. None of these teams knew how any of their draft choices were going to turn out, so to assume they would have taken a different player is pure guess work.
From the article…
“Gannon could possibly assemble an experienced staff with his connections to former Colts coach Frank Reich and Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and Eagles quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson.
Gannon “knocked it out of the park” and “crushed” his meetings with NFL teams, impressing them with his knowledge, creativity, detailed plans about strategy and staff and his passion for the game, according to league sources.”
Cal: Lovie we are going to have to let you go. We're moving in another direction. The folks over at Texans Talk need something new to talk about. We need something new to talk about around here, getting a new HC would solve that.
Bum and his son Wade fathered a child together, I dunno but wouldn't that be some kind of biological precedent Texian ?If he can't, then hire Wes Phillips, Bum and Wade's boy. And of course, hire Eliot Wolf as the GM. I like those bloodlines and the football DNA for those two. At least the fan base would be excited to cheer for Bum and Wade's boy. Cal will have the luxury of waiting this out because Minnesota is in the playoffs.
DeMeco also sued the NFL. Yet, he still has a job in the NFL. Don't see this as an issue to DeMeco taking a big $$$ HC job in Houston.
I know that you are smarter than this.Bum and his son Wade fathered a child together, I dunno but wouldn't that be some kind of biological precedent Texian ?
Dude you are a wealth of info !
My question is has Hannah already made up Cal's mind on how the Texans move forward?
Likely yes. Because he isn’t the long term coach. My question is has Hannah already made up Cal's mind on how the Texans move forward?
Last year, would the Texans have drafted Hutchison over Stingley if they had the #1 pick? Being that they are the Texans, they probably still would have drafted the gimpy cornerback bECauSe hE wAS thE BeST aThelete In tHE drAFT...when healthy. And a little location on Kirby is where all dumb things go to die.And they are making a big assumption that these teams would have drafted any differently. None of these teams knew how any of their draft choices were going to turn out, so to assume they would have taken a different player is pure guess work.
I've posted an unpopular statement in the past.........that Demeco would not ever be pursuing the HC position with the Texans.................there are still too many unresolved hard feelings on both sides to make for such a relationship now.
Hannah is telling Cal that because he insisted on keeping Lovie he missed out on a better HC and the games show how bad the coaching is. Then that HC influenced the draft and passed on Sauce for Stingley. My question is has Hannah already made up Cal's mind on how the Texans move forward?
My dream coaching scenario would be for Demeco to come back to Houston as our HC and Kubiack to be hired as his OC.DeMeco also sued the NFL. Yet, he still has a job in the NFL. Don't see this as an issue to DeMeco taking a big $$$ HC job in Houston.
Of course you don'tDeMeco also sued the NFL. Yet, he still has a job in the NFL. Don't see this as an issue to DeMeco taking a big $$$ HC job in Houston.
