Final Mock(s) 2019 NFL Draft

OptimisticTexan

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
Thought it would be interesting to compile everyone's final draft in one thread. Include one draft with the picks as they are and one draft with trades, to include players and/or picks.

Texans currently possess the following picks:

RD1-23

RD2-22
RD2-23

RD3-22

RD4- **No Pick(s)**

RD5-23

RD6-22

RD7-06

I just posted my final mock, but I'll put it here as well.

1. Andre Dillard-OT
2. Amani Oruwariye-CB
2b. Elgton Jenkins-C/OG
3. David Long-CB
5. Hunter Renfrow-WR
6. Shareef Miller-Edge
7. Ryquell Armstead-RB

I don't do trade mocks, they're so arbitrary.

I could live with this. Would prefer to see another tackle, but all in all its ok.

Glad to see I'm not alone in rating Oruwariye so highly.

For all of his measurables, he just looks like a natural at corner on tape.

Opto, is there a particular mock that you using ? They have grown a little closer .... but still pretty widely scattered.

He does look like a natural out there. Some guys look uncomfortable on the CB island, Oruwariye looks like he belongs there. I was impressed with the way he was always spying the QB as well. He did look like he avoids unnecessary contact when assisting on tackles, but doesn't avoid contact when the tackle is his to make. Walter and CBS both have him being available to us when we select in the 2nd round, but I think it'll take a little luck.

In just this last week alone I have noticed so many players move up in the rankings.
What this means is that a lot of good players are going to slide back.
I think we are going to see some surprises falling back to us at 54 and 55.
Another pick or two in the second would be golden.
This makes me want to trade back in this very deep draft because it is deep with players at pon.

Media is trying to catch up to what teams actually think

What would Texans have to give up to move up to #8?
The schrager mock states picks 23, 55 and 86

Not sure how I feel about that given the rest of our needs. I'd prefer to give up maybe 23, 55 and a 2nd next year if something like that could be done.

I'm still hesitant with a trade like that, given we really need 2 CBs (and I'd love to add RB help too) it's difficult to see how we hit all those targets in this draft giving up those picks.

I'm not trading up for a defensive player that's scared to death to even come close to making a tackle.

Unless it's Deion Sanders ... and Deion ain't in this draft.

1. Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma
2. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
3. New York Jets: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama
4. Oakland Raiders: Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Devin White, ILB, LSU
6. New York Giants: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa
8. Detroit Lions: Brian Burns, OLB, Florida State
9. Buffalo Bills: Jonah Williams, OT/G, Alabama
10. Denver Broncos: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
11. Cincinnati Bengals: Devin Bush, ILB, Michigan
12. Green Bay Packers: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida
13. Miami Dolphins: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson
14. Atlanta Falcons: Cody Ford, OT/G, Oklahoma
15. Washington Redskins: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
16. Carolina Panthers: Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State
17. New York Giants: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke
18. Minnesota Vikings: Chris Lindstrom, G, Boston College
19. Tennessee Titans: Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Byron Murphy, CB, Washington
21. Seattle Seahawks: Montez Sweat, DE, Mississippi State
22. Baltimore Ravens: Erik McCoy, C/G, Texas A&M
23. Houston Texans: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Houston needs help at offensive tackle, but with Dillard and Ford gone, I'll move to defensive back. Williams is a polarizing prospect, but he is very talented. The Texans should use their two second-round picks on offensive linemen.

24. Oakland Raiders: Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama
25. Philadelphia Eagles: Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma
26. Indianapolis Colts: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
27. Oakland Raiders: Darnell Savage Jr., S, Maryland
28. Los Angeles Chargers: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson
29. Seattle Seahawks: Justin Layne, CB, Michigan State
30. Green Bay Packers: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
31. Los Angeles Rams: Garrett Bradbury, C/G, NC State
32. New England Patriots: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

Watch for Houston to try to trade up on Thursday night. But considering Houston allowed 62 sacks of Deshaun Watson in 2018, the fact that Dillard allowed just one all season for the Cougars might also be of interest. He has excellent feet.

A LOT of mocks today have Greedy falling to the 2nd. If he can lock down a receiver I don't have an issue with trading up for him.
If Greedy has an issue with being a hammer, then he could be exposed in other ways. I'm all in on some big physical guys who can cover and supply the lumber in manner that could make receivers think twice about catching the ball.....so I'm good with Trayvon Mullen and Isaiah Johnson to be exactly those type of players. I still think Joejuan Williams has a future at SS. He has the size and demeanor to make this transition. With the majority of the DB's that have been signed to start next year are only here for 1 season so stacking the depth chart with potential starters would be vastly important come 2020.

Also, since we are talking about all the mocks coming out today, it appears the Texans (according to mocks) are going to take Cody Ford at 23. Thoughts?
Would not suck for me. He is one of the top chances to be a Texan after tonite.
Plays with a mean streak which is essential for an OL.

Drew Dougherty mentioned that since 2013 the 2nd most mocked player has a high rate of ending up a Texan.

Hopkins was 2nd behind Hunter.
Fuller was 2nd behind Coleman.
Watson was 2nd behind Mahomes.

This year the most mocked player is Cody Ford and the 2nd most mocked is Andre Dillard.

Let's hope it works like that again!

huh if you eliminate trade ups I thought Greedy Williams had more mocks than Dillard at #23 especially last few weeks.

Brian Gaine has nerves of steel blue. I would have traded up 5 times by now.
